Apart from that i found out we still had the millenium falcon, a big imerpial starfleet and part from the ewoks treehouse. Fuckin' big lol.

All those prequel trilogy figures and sets look horrible. Ours were worth so much more.

But man, we will never forgive our brother for what he done lol. We had them all. Fuckin' Boba, darth vader, emperor, Greedo, Luke, Obi wan, yoda, R2, Tarkin ETC ETC! =(

Dude, what's with the "fuckins'?"

How much better? Probably still worse than 99% of all DVD releases

They look awesome.

They're grainy, scratchy and saturated with color. You know, the way Star Wars is supposed to look.

It's glorious. Dark Jedi's discs are the only Star Wars ones I watch now, because they are as close as I'll ever get to replicating the theatrical experience I had as a kid. And that's what this is all about, right?

How much does it cost Lucasfilm to make a DVD?

I bet Lucas outsources most, if not, all of the manufacturing of his merchandising and the things he sells only cost him pennies on the dollar of profit he makes off the stuff.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I'm not sure if this should go here or in the General SW thread. I have come here often and decided to join because I don’t believe a question like this has ever been asked.

I heard that you should get a job and buy the DVD's, then download a preservation of the originals, then change your avatar to something other than what was trendy in 2004.

Not to come down too hard on you, but I've had it with negativity.

If you do happen to have a 62-foot HDTV, then I apologize, dark_jedi. And even if you don't, don't take this message the wrong way. I'm not trying to call you out or anything. I just had to say something after having seen this several times on these boards by various members over the past few days.

What? So all this time I've been telling chicks I've got a 10' @#!%? Son of a bitch.

Including the builders and the grave keeper and the running man. Please tell me they just did that for fun and none of these guys are in Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. Are they? Or did they come up with totally new models? Man, I have got to get a GameCube.

The characters don't show up exactly in WW or TP, but the archetypes certainly do.

****SPOILER*****

Am I the only one who was upset to see what had become of Kakariko Village in TP? It was kind of sad to see the town in shambles, I mean, the windmill was gone, Dampe's hut was just a pile of rubble...almost as bad as seeing what happened the Hyrule in WW...

I always have some very fond memories about this Walt Disney production. Alas, there are still no decent dvd available. I bought the uk zone 2. Image format is 2.35 but like Star Wars OT, it isn't an anamorphic transfer. The picture is very grainy too. And zero bonus, not even a trailer.

Does this film has been aired on tv recently? Is there any hope to get a better copy somehow?

I would love to see this...I wonder if Dark Jedi could help you out with the steps necessary to convert this to NTSC Anamorphic...not sure if he's done that with any other projects though...

Thanks. I never knew that that line was for ANH.

Since when was that line for ANH?

Where in the film would they use that?

I thought it was recorded especially for ESB SE.

Huh??

It's bullshit about that line being recorded for Star Wars. I'm not sure what Ben Burtt was thinking when he said that. And it's easy to prove that it's not from a cut Star Wars scene on several counts. First of all, there is no scene where Vader boards an Imperial ship in Star Wars. A scene where this occurs isn't even in any of the scripts.

Also, in Star Wars they are "Imperial Cruisers". The term "Star Destroyer" was not used until The Empire Strikes Back.

And now about Adywan's project......

I didn't join originaltrilogy.com to advocate more changes to the movie. The whole point was to try and get a classic film back to its original form. This micro-managed, "It's better because now 3PO is seen in the macrobinoculars" is the same sort of garbage Lucas has been doing to the films (both old and new) for over 10 years now. It's the story that counts, not how many creatures blink. Adywan, you're demonstrating a talent for effects, but your efforts would be far better suited to screwing around with your own work and not worshiping the heels of Lucas.

Neil

Calling someone's hard work garbage is being a dick.

Saying "screwing around with your own work and not worshipping the heels of Lucas" is being a dick.

I call it like I see it, Neil. As I said it before, you seem like a cool guy but your comments were uncalled for, and you were totally out of line.

Lucas @ The Oscars

The screenplay for Annie Hall is golden. The screenplay for Star Wars is a blueprint.

See, for best screenplay, I think Annie Hall deserves, cause the writing is second to none in that movie. I still think there is a debate between Best Picture for SW & Annie Hall, cause they are both considered classics today. As for Best Director, I still think Lucas deserved the award over Woodie Allen, because SW was revolutionary at the time, and the fact that it made it on screen and was such a great movie, Lucas had to credit for that.

Absolutely, but try and get in the mindset of the film community at the time. Lucas was an upstart Director, operating on the peripheral of the Hollywood system, practicing the very antithesis of "serious Hollywood filmmaking."

Let me say this as simply as possible so I'm clear - Lucas haters aren't new. He's always been held with a certain level of contempt by the very people that vote for the Academy Awards.

Pre-child molester Woody Allen was seen as a smart writer and director, perfect for the self-indulgent "Me" generation simmering in Hollywood, and Marshall Brickman was pretty hot at the time and would go on to write several more Oscar nominated films.

Star Wars not winning Best Picture or Best Director or Best Screenplay makes perfect sense to me given the attitudes and social mores of the time. Think of another escapist fantasy film not starting with Lord or ending in Of The Rings that won Best Picture. It's just the way it goes. Films of no substance, despite popularity, don't fare well with Academy voters.

^ Especially since they took their time getting it out there.

Perhaps it's the re-used character models and music? I thought they worked well within the context of the game's parallel universe.

So guys, I was just looking on Nintendo's Japanese website for the heck of it, and look what I found in the virtual console section:

Any guesses what might be coming down the pipeline?

Now that would be a treat.

I would much rather see a new Nintendo handheld which features an internal flash drive that you could use to communicate with the Wii - complete with a new 'Gameboy' section for the old classics which could be then transferred to the DS2 or whatever the hell it's going to be called...Since Mii is already taken

Uhhh, yeah. I fired it up around 4am this morning (I usually don't sleep through the night) and played in the dark. Wow. What atmosphere...emphasis on FEAR. I played the original RE on PC and RE2 on the PS1...not even close to this thing man. This weekend's pretty much going to be a gaming-thon for me. I want to have made serious Wind Waker and SMSS progress by the time it's over.

Chalts, do you think because TWLP was a launch title that they will come up with another Zelda game within the Wii's lifetime? I've heard about Phantom Hourglass for the DS and am looking forward to that one as well...

Oh hell yes, RE4 has so many pants shitting moments it's amazing. The first time I played through it and that crazy ass bastard with the chainsaw and sack over his head rushed the house I thought I was going to have a stroke.

Congrats on the Wii find, and I think you might want to re-evaulate your earlier comment on the Wii's market share. All reports thus far have indicated that the Wii is outselling both the PS3 and 360 combined - which is awesome.

If I may chime in on another of your points, you've aluded to the fact that Nintendo's track record with their first party titles isn't exactly...expedient.

Two things come to mind when thinking about Zelda. With the exception of the SNES (and perhaps DS - although Tingle is getting his own spinoff), every Nintendo system has had at least two Zelda games. NES had the original two, N64 had OOT and MM (albeit late in the consoles' life cycle), Gamecube had WW, 4SA and TP (again, late in the console's life cycle) so I'd be willing to bet that we'll see another Zelda game on the Wii.

However, based on their track record, I think it will be another 3 years before we see it - maybe even 2 years before we get news of development. I'd love to see a new Zelda that implements DS/Wii functionality.

I've been using the official Nintendo brand USB Wi-Fi connector with no troubles, other than the fact that my Firewall has to be disabled for it to work.

Did you need to configure it when you plugged it in? For example, I understand it supports WEP encryption (CRAP), so did you configure it with keys, etc?

Also, I don't think you have too much to worry about with people piggybacking off of you. I don't think the range is significant enough to be a problem, unless you live in an apartment or dorm or something.

It's a quick, easy solution, and the Wii/DS is already configured to connect to it, so I'm 100% happy with it.

Also, downloading games is a cinch - N64 games took about 2 minutes, SNES 1 minute and NES games less than 30 sec.

This is how it looks next to a USB drive.

Yeah, dude - that's the one I bought at Best Buy - it was DS branded and they've since changed the box with a picture of the DS and the Wii, but the actual USB adapter is the same.

I believe it's just like a USB "thumb drive" that you plug into an internet-connected pc. It then acts as a Wi-Fi access point for the Wii. Supposed to be very easy.

Oh, it is. The range is decent, too. My PC (the Official Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter is not Mac compatible) is upstairs and the Wii on the main level of my house, and I have never had problems going online. It's pretty cool, actually - and only about $30 (works for the DS, too).

I have to go back to work, irony of ironies, then to my parent's house for dinner tonight. Will hook it up when I get home...ARRGHHHHH! This is going to be tedious...

Thanks to all for the tips and for listening to my venting!

How awesome is that? I'll tell you! VERY awesome.

Have you guys all shared Wii codes yet? Can I get in on the action?
