The vocalizing in the PT.
Time
All things considered, I'm just glad that John Williams was alive long enough to realize the scores for all 6 of the Star Wars films. What is he? Like, 90 or something?

The concious decision to make the scores more "vocalized" to give them a regal, ancient feel is questionable, but I still enjoy them on a certain level.

C'mon - the opening music from ROTS was great though, wasn't it?

Nope - I played through it about 12 years ago, and just forgot where everything was. That game is all about the memorization, which is partially why it is so good.

As I said to my wife, this is one of those games I can stay up till 5 AM playing and not even know where the time went!

Sean, I used to like you, but lately you've become nothing more than a troll.

Go start another one of your useless threads, and unless you have something valuable to say about video games, stay out of here.

Sorry to be blunt, but you're pissing a lot of people off lately and doing yourself a great disservice.

Imagine playing Donkey Kong or Pac-Man and being able to constantly save the game and reload it if you loose a guy. Kind of takes the bit out of them.

Pfftt...I just finished playing DKC for about 2 hours, of which 1 1/2 hours was spent on the first mine cart level. Let me tell you, I said a lot of things, but two of the words were not cake or walk.

- You might want to steer clear of Majora's Mask for a while then.

^ Cool...yeah, Dragon Roost island was sweet, and the Boss Battle at the end is really cool.

I'm still stuck at the part in TP where Link has to escort the wagon with the sick Zora child back to Kakariko Village - I can't seem to multi-task enough to shoot the riders, the bomb-dropping bird things, and put the wagon fire out with the Gale Boomerang. It's really frustrating me, actually. I'm a gamer of moderately above-average skill, and I can't get past this part for the life of me. /rant.

If you're liking WW, Sage, and you don't own a Nintendo DS yet, you might want to get one when Zeldahantom Hourglass ships - it's being previewed right now and most reviews praise it for capturing the look and charm of WW.

If you guys haven't seen the new trailer yet, here it is:

And, just for the hell of it, here's one of many new screenshots from the SOON TO BE RELEASED Super Mario Galaxy...

Well, I know very little about the C64, and Im sure that there were a lot of good games. But let me ask on another topic: what will be on the VC next monday?

Well, Starfox 64 got certified last week by the ESRB, so it's a safe bet we'll see that within the next little while.

Am I the only one who hasn't downloaded Sega games because I consider it a sacrilege? Man, if you had of told me 20 years ago I'd see a Sonic game on a Nintendo console...

Well I don't know how you could believe it if sonic didn't exist back then.

Sorry - 16 years. When you get to be my age, son, you'll learn to round up.

This sucks. I just typed out a big ass message to you guys chock full of pictures and goodies, to show you how today Sony outlined why they're going to win the console "war."

I'm just going to link to where I got my info, but let's just say this - I own every major console from the last 25 years, with the exception of anything branded Sony - that's how little of a fan I am of theirs.

But now? They're going to destroy Xbox Live Arcade and Nintendo's Mii's. Holy shit is this huge.

Sony's Key Note GDC Address @ Joystiq

I'm so pissed...my post was awesome and it timed out when I went to post. Oh well, you'll have to hit the jump to read all about it...

Oh yeah, I also had mentioned that Commodore is bringing back the Amiga name to high-end gaming PC's, thought you C64 fans would like that.

More than hate really, most people would be amazed how much it has to do with Muslim eschatology. As much as we want to consider religion as merely a side activity and not a deeper part of our lives, this is not the case over there. Over there religion is an aspect that is very active in their lives and dictates the way their lives play out. So much more than hate is in the picture, or perhaps it is better to say that hate is based on something deeper, their religion. You can get free Korans sent right to your door, I wish more people would do that. It is a very interesting read, very enlightening.

Except that there is no more "over there," as you put it. It's in your midst, all of ours. Look at what is happening in Birmingham in the UK, for example. There are nationalized citizens born and bred in the United Kingdom that are committing radical acts of terrorism, based soley on the desire to disrupt Western ideology.

I think the point needs to be made that the majority of Muslims are a peace loving people who condemn the perversion of their religion, but there are some basic tenants there that non-Muslims have to be very, very cautious of.

Fundamentalist or not, they take their religion very seriously and their mythology is rife of violent symbolism and practices. It's something we in the West need to wrap our heads around. Islamic extremists don't understand tolerance, democracy, freedom and personal rights. They understand two things. Life and death. You are alive alive, or you are dead. They can't be reasoned with, it is a truth to them.

This is why people need to realize that this is not an "over there" problem, in this case I assume "over there" is the Middle East. In every major urban centre in the World, is a radical extremist group, Muslim or otherwise, who want nothing more than to see us all suffer.

^ Love 'em or hate 'em, you've got to admit that Microsoft have done a fantastic job of courting game developers in this current generation versus last.

They've definately proven that they are in this "to win" and won't back down from Sony, who, let's face it - are their real competition as far as they are concerned despite what the numbers say.

When you think of all of the developers like Capcom, Konami, Square (!!!) and so forth who are developing games for the 360 it will be extremely interesting to see how it plays out.

My first inclination was to think that developers would steer clear of system exclusives this round, due to escalating production costs, but that hasn't been the case. Now we're at the point where all 3 companies have such strong exclusives that the choice for gamers is amazing - so much so that the prediction is that many homes will see 2 of the 3 competing consoles installed. That's incredible to me.

Now that Microsoft has upped the size limit for XBLA games, ultimately paving the way for a service like Sony's where we will see more Symphony Of The Night's than Geometry Wars they've sent a signal to the industry.

Do you believe in aliens?
Time
Yep - our culture tends to think big. Some micro-organism in some Martian sess pool is life, any way you want to define it.

Just 'cause it isn't stranded on Earth, befriended by 3 children and builds a communcator out of a fucking...Speak and Spell, doesn't mean it's not alien.

I define alien as anything that does not naturally occur on the planet Earth, like extra-terrestrials, Taco Bell, and Jessica Biel's ass.

I was hoping this topic would take off a little more, I would have liked to have heard some more opinions on this. Anybody else think there was a conspiracy invovled? Or at least that there was more going on that we know about?

Plain and simple, North Americans love a good conspiracy story. I can't think of one major event, be it war, famine or celebrity death in recent memory that didn't have all sorts of theories pop up surrounding it.

Then it's propogated by the liberal media, who insist that any calamity befalling the human race is part of some subversive conservative agenda. That's the real conspiracy, my friends. The "truth" is muddled by political ping-pong, back and forth, back and forth until honest, hard working folk can't tell the difference between up and down.

9/11 happened for one reason, and one reason only. Radical Islamic Fundamentalists hate Americans with a seething passion.

As old as it is, Gauntlet on the 360 nailed that one pretty well. The constantly ticking down health meter + frantic action made it really arcade like...now if we could just get 4P Coop Golden Axe we'd be off to the races.
