Idea: Revenge of the Sith: Extended Edition
Time
If the backstory of why Liam Neeson failed to be involved with 'Sith' is true, it's a real shame, because I agree that that could have been a pivotal scene in cementing the PT together. It would have dovetailed nicely with the other films and been a potentially emotional scene for the characters and fans alike.

I'm surprised it hasn't been included based on the positive fan reaction the scene had received.

Oh God...someone should stop Adam from going to MF. They're gonna rip him a new one.

As for an Extended Edition of ROTS, I'm all for it, provided I can still get the original theatrical cut which I thought was tight and well paced. I actually really, really enjoyed ROTS the way it was. I mean, that's why we're all preservationists, right? I'd watch a fan edit though, don't get me wrong, I'd just be dissappointed if I couldn't watch the original cut of ROTS, just as I was with TPM and AOTC.

But this is originaltrilogy.com, so I digress...

Oh for fuck's sake get off it - there's no way anyone from LFL looks to the internet for ideas on how to make a 'better' film. Prove to me once and for all that Lucas reads any message board and works some fanboy idea into a scene in a movie.

If anything the only thing they pay attention to is the "Hey, I'd like a 9-titted Jabba's Dancer action figure" posts.

COME ON! If they really listened we'd have the OOT on DVD and this site wouldn't exist.

TFN and LFL are one big happy family. Once Paul Ens got hired by LFL it was downhill from there for TFN. Now they got bought out by Wise and they are worse now than they ever were. Hell, the very fact that he has a monopoly on the SW autograph industry is enough of an LFL connection right there. But it is a small one overall. Who knew that I would ever miss the days of Josh and Nicole? And I HATED those a**clowns.

Yep Jack - that's exactly what I'm saying.

Just that you have amassed an insane amount of posts in a short period of time and you seem very eager to 'spread the love' to other Star Wars forums around the net. I mean, over 800 posts 3 months? Do you have a job? (kidding).

Sorry, I don't want to come across that I'm out to get you and criticize everything you do, it's just an observation...

Wrong again. Did they credit you for sending them the 'tip?' Nope.

I'm not sure where you're getting a tie with starwars.com from, if anything TF.N profits more from fans. You see, certain members of the 'management' team over at TF.N have strong business connections with companies involved in the merchandising of Star Wars products.

What immediately comes to mind is the autograph industry. If you don't know what I'm talking about I'm not going to spell it out here, look elsewhere for the story. Needless to say, you probably won't be buying that Kenny Baker 8X10 any time soon.

What is with you and TF.N though? I'm not trying to start anything here with you, just point out that it seems you're trying to make a bit of a name for yourself in the online Star Wars community, and as a fellow fan, you may be going about it in the wrong way. Sorry.

Hee hee - I bought 2 boxes of the 'Clone Wars' cereal for EPII so I could get that ridiculous helmet thing.

The helmet didn't fit and I got the shits from the cereal. Of course I ate 2 boxes in one sitting, so I deserved the shits. The helmet didn't fit on account of my big head. I didn't deserve that. Damn parents and their big head genes.

Don't bet on it. Glow in the dark? Saber igniting sound when...uh...nevermind.

I'm holding out for the Dianoga toilet bowl brush.

Naw, Adam - I don't really think there's a connection. However, LFL does watch all of the major Star Wars sites on the net (more about protecting intellectual property than anything else) and does gauge the fan climate. None too well if you asked me based on their questionable decisions.

As far as TF.N goes, they are guilty of being perpetual 'Yes-Men.' They are the Rick McCallum's of Cyberspace, if you will. They never post anything negative about Star Wars, they always shamelessly plug themselves, they seldom credit their sources, they post news items days after everyone has already heard, they are a bunch of sychophant suck-up elitest snobs who pride themselves on being the 'premiere' Star Wars fansite. I also am aware that there has been falling outs between them and other site owners due to their attitude and policies.

You're shitting me, right? I'm not checking the validity of your report because I refuse to type that website's name into my browser.

I get what JackLucas is saying though. It's been a sad reality in Hollywood for years now. Ever since movie studios were bought up by mega-corporations which also owned TV station, magazines and what have you.

A few years ago I was a subscriber to Entertainment Weekly (I know, I know, I've since atoned) and I noticed that when Scooby-Doo came out there was no review of it. Every place else I looked I saw 'Scooby-Doo sucks,' or 'Prinze Jr. is a dick in a kerchief,' etc. But not in EW. Opening weekend passes, new issue arrives. Scooby-Doo #1 at box office, EW reviews it at a C+. Hmm...so I checks it out, and sure enough EW is owned by Time-Warner and Scobby-Doo is distributed by Warner. So I cancelled my subscription. I always knew that companies cross-promoted and played this game, but I never really payed attention to it until then. It was disgusting to thnk that the average moviegoer maybe wouldn't have plunked down their hard earned money to see that steaming pile of shit had they seen the review. But they couldn't as it was printed after opening weekend and it made back it's budget. It's definately a possibility.

Now, I never thought this would spread to Star Wars. I knew that Star Wars was all about Chewie bath mats and Jar-Jar underwear (turn 'em inside out!) but to see Lucas squirming on the OC (which I am a fan of, but certainly not that episode) was laughable and saddening as a Star Wars fan. Yeah, the trailer was cool, but fuck! Did they really need to do that? Star Wars has built in box office, what the shit was Fox thinking?

Now this Apprentice crap is happening to tie-in with 'Sith' on DVD. C'mon! Do they really think that the average fans of the OC and the Aprentice are going to rush out to buy into the Star Wars machine? I accuse Fox and LFL of not knowing their market and demographic. We're a fickle bunch, Star Wars fans. They know they have their hands in our pockets and it's a gold mine for them - it's time we put a stop to it. No more 'Lava Vaders' (seriously, WTF?) no more bubble-bath, no more M&M's, no more at all!

Give me movies and maybe Star Wars beer and I'm good to go.

Sir Ridely Scott is one of those things that can change. I only put the 'Sir' (which he is, BTW) to evoke the formal-ness of the Criterion folks. They tend to take film pretty damn seriously so they always have this really proper way of writing...that's all. I wasn't trying to be elitest or anything.

At any rate, my efforts have sort of de-railed because I didn't realize there were a lot of these out there...maybe I'll finish it sometime and post it here, maybe not.

What are you talking about? Merchandising?

Star Wars has always been about the merchandising my man - are you old enough to remember C3PO's?

I agree that I am sick and tired of endless waves of...stuff. I mean, what kind of world do we live in where a Yoda costume for a dog is available, but not a set of the original trilogy on DVD. And I swear I'm not making that dog costume thing up. It's scary...in a cute kind of way.

Now, if there was a pirate or ninja costume for a dog I'd be all over that like Star Jones on a butter croissant.

Really? BASTARDS! I'd not seen that on. Everyone I saw had some variation on the poster art.

Oh well, I'll still finish mine and post it here. It's shaping up nicely. I'm using the UPC code and original Criterion catalogue number just as a cool kind of design thing...It should be done later today. I am kind of bummed they used the same pic of Deckard on the front.
