That's the sad reality of it. I'm optimistic that Lucas will at least strive for quality, for however low of an opinion I have of the YIJC I at least recognize that they were ambitious and had great production values.

Will everyone here watch it? Of course. What else will there be to bitch about?

As the original poster on MF said, and I agree - cropped hi-res cropped McQuarrie is better than no McQuarrie at all!

Several sources are available for the non-cropped versions, just not in as high resolution. Until something better comes along...

I'm encouraged by this new Star Wars poster book coming out. I'm sure some intrepid individual will makes hi-res scans and the DVD cover madness will begin anew!

Hey - I realize that BR should pretty much have it's own forum by now, but in the interest of Fan Preservation I started making this Criterion style cover for BR - the original cut from the Criterion Laserdisc that was posted at MySpleen. This is just a quick preliminary pass at it to see if it's a worthwhile project. Any suggestions? I'll post the final version when I'm done and if any others are out there, let's see 'em!

Just to put some of this into perspective for people:

Hales also wrote the majority of the horrid 'Young Indiana Jones' series, and started off as a writer on 'Dallas.' Yep.

Huyck & Katz wrote 'Howard The Duck' but also 'Temple of Doom' They haven't worked for 10 years.

Fisher wrote an episode of the aforementioned 'YIJC' and did a rumoured script doctoring on AOTC (right? or was it ROTS?).

Kasdan was responsible for a re-write of 'Empire' & did 'Jedi.' He also wrote 'Raiders.' His track record lately hasn't been all that good though. 'Dreamcatcher' anyone?

Brackett wrote the first draft of 'Empire' and then...died.

Geez, Star Wars really is a career killer...sometimes literally.

I think we REALLY dodge a bullet with Episode III. (read inside..)
Time
I heard that Han was a mysterious smuggler and a star pilot who met up with Luke & Obi-Wan in the Mos Eisley cantina and then set off on one crazy ass adventure...

I'm pretty happy leaving it at that.

It's like suddenly somewhere filmmakers decided that the public were morons, and needed to have every little detail penciled in for them. What ever happened to using your imagination? That's also why I'm not particularly fond of 'Last Crusade,' because it de-mystifies everything about Indiana Jones, and takes away some of the character's charm.

Same thing if they had of filmed the Han scene. So, yes, Jay is right in saying we dodged a bullet. And until we know who nixed the scene, it's all just conjecture. Who knows? Maybe Rick 'Yes-Man' MacCallum is more responsible for some of the bad stuff about the Prequels than Lucas.

Which also leads me to another point, how come the prequels have next to no backstory?

The 'Prequels' were the backstory, which is why they don't really work.

Any good screenwriter will tell you that backstory is best left at just that. It gives charatcers and plot depth and meaning, but never really ahould be delved into. The Godfather II is an example were it did work, though.

pay close attention to some of the covers in here, and then look really closely at yours and you should be able to see what you need to work on.

Whoah dude - I think people are being a little bit too harsh on Cato. The whole Princess Leia mini-skirt thing was 'orrible, to be sure, but even though his DVD cover kind of sucks I've seen worse.

Cato, there are many excellent resources on the net which can help your design sense and give you insight on how to use filters better to achieve your vision. Keep at it and maybe we'll see great things from you someday - just not quite now.

Help with EditDroid covers...
Time
Hey - what are the odds someone would be kind enough to post the hi-res versions of the EditDroid covers here? Maybe even a yousendit link for Rixter's cover template and CoverXP?

I was about 50.5% done downloading his covers torrent and something really strange happened to it - plus there's only one kind seeder right now and my DL rate was 3 kbps.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, isn't "fan" a shortened form of fanatic?

Semantically, yes. However, I think the word fan has a sort of...casuallness to it. The word fanatic seems more like a zealot to me.
