Reasons to hate the Special Editions
Time
While I prefer the 77-80-83 version, I can still appreciate the Special Editions for what they were. Anyone who saw them in the theatre can attest to the fact that the comraderie of fans was amazing.

The SE's revitalized Star Wars fandom, for better and for worse, and they deserve their propers for that. I think that they may have been looked upon more favourably were it not for the Prequels and Lucas' reluctance to release the originals in a modern format.

Was that really the first Death Star in ROTS?

Whoah pardner - I never said I didn't like any of Kubrick films. I recognize the greatness of his early works, but I merely stated that he is overated. Many people are quick to praise his genius without backing it up, and I'm calling AWK out on it. I am interested in a provoking dicsussion with AWK regarding Kubrick's filmic legacy.

I have my reasoning, which, I would welcome a discussion of but first I'd like to hear from Adam on the subject.

Perhaps this isn't the place though...

Info Wanted: Changes in the Prequel films?
Time
Welcome Pittrek.

Numerous changes were made to both Episodes I & II from the theatrical versions to DVD. Episode III had one minor change which doesn't amount to much.

If you look around here, you'll find several of our esteemed editors have already attempted this process with great success, and the threads can offer you vauable insight into not only the alterations that were made, but also the process which the editors went through.

Again, welcome and good luck.

Don't think that the blood was shed in the creation of your country makes it okay for one. damn. second.

I will respect your wishe despite my feelings on the subject to mention it no further.

Just so you know I deleted my other posts directed at you. I will keep my comments related to Star Wars, but it's for the sake of the board, not yours.

And the quote above came from someone that works for Lucasfilm, not a self-proclaimed obsessed Star Wars fan like Nathan Butler.

How much more clear would you like it?

Lucas himself acknowledged the EU's canonocity. That's about as clear as you can get. And BTW, what's all the hatred in this board everyone seems to have with EU? It expands on the story. Star Wars would be pretty boring at times without the EU.

I don't hate the EU. I hate miserable little twats who insist that the EU belongs in the same league as the films. Boba Fett is dead - deal with it.

Verbatim from Lucasfilm magazine, AWK:

"Gospel, or canon as we refer to it, includes the screenplays, the films, the radio dramas and the novelizations. These works spin out of George Lucas' original stories, the rest are written by other writers. However, between us, we've read everything, and much of it is taken into account in the overall continuity. The entire catalog of published works comprises a vast history — with many off-shoots, variations and tangents — like any other well-developed mythology."

Quit confusing canon and continuity, and quit getting all of your information from wikipedia.
