I'm not sure how you necessarily figure that. Just because George wants it to be shot on a medium he prefers doesn't mean he'll have any more control over the editing than he would if it were shot on film. Spielberg would still have control over who edits his film, and, at this stage in his career, I'm sure he has right to final cut that even the studio wouldn't override.

Quite frankly Michael Kahn will be calling the shots with Spielberg, so stylistically the film is in good hands. With Marshall & Kennedy producing, Lucas has little to do other than raise the money for it and negotiate the deals with the studio, in this case Paramount.

He has some artistic control over the storyline, but Spielberg isn't afraid to tell Lucas when something stinks.

I have the utmost confidence that this picture will please longtime fans.

Now, onto other business. Douglas Slocombe retired after Last Crusade, so this film is being shot by Kaminski.

what look would you like? Would you like it to fit with the rest of the films, or prefer a look similar to Private Ryan or Munich? Spielberg and Kaminski have been using a bleached, colourless palette for a while now, apart from Catch Me If You Can. What look would suit Indy?

Have you seen Dark Alex's new homebrew firmware? I swear, the PSP in the right hands could be a hell of a great handheld system - as it is the PSP is plagued by constant firmware revisions designed to thwart the very people who are making it "cool."

If Sony would just embrace the homebew crowd, they could appeal to such a broader audience and maybe even tap into some of Nintendo's market share.

So, in other words, the Star Wars films have become ghettoized, in the sense that mainstream audiences have shunned the series and its' multiple revisions, so that the only people who seem to care anymore are hardcore fanboys?

Time was it was "cool" to like Star Wars, I swear this hobby is one pair of Vulcan ears away from being a total joke.

Mandatory Tipping Poll
Time
A general rule I live by is to reward good service, and punish bad. None of this 15% shit.

If someone gives mediocre service, they get a mediocre tip.

If someone gives good service, they get a good tip.

If someone gives bad service, they get ratted out to the manager.

As an aside, you can get some really great stuff in the mail if you legitimately complain about bad service/product.

For example, one time my wife & I went into a Timothy's Coffee House because she really wanted a hot chocolate. The managersaid they were too busy to make it, and when I looked around there were literally 4 people in the coffee house.

Next day, I call up the public relations office (*hint* skip the customer service line - they're usually patronizing knobs) and told them how my experience soured me on the chain, and that I would be letting my friends, coworkers and family know exactly how much the corporation values their patronage.

Within a week I had over $100 worth of coupons in the mail...I think I drank free coffee for like, 2 weeks.

The big February Nintendo Blitz is going down this Saturday at Toys'R'Us in Canada, and apparently Sunday in the States.

Don't take my word for it, but I was told this by a very informed TRU employee yesterday. He knew numbers, stock information...everything. I'm definately "camping" out. He said the last blitz saw people there about 4 AM, so I don't think it's necessary to be there any earlier than that, but I still have that feeling in my stomach that says "Go earlier..."

I'm so pre-ordering next time...The PSP had so much buzz that I camped out for it for 5 hours, and then I was one of 4 people with 45 units to choose from.

The 360 I camped out for in -35 degree weather from 12AM till 9AM...I'm still kicking myself for not camping for the Wii at launch. This stime, she will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine.

OT Chaltab, when is the best time usually to catch you online for some Mario Kart DS? I always check and you're never on, it seems.

Star Wars Unified DVD Covers Project
Time
Well, it's an admirable pursuit and I like the overall design, but here are two pointers, since you asked!

1) Assuming you are using Photoshop, move the brushed metal layer to the bottom. The way you have it between the text layer and the borders is kind of strange looking.

2) Get a better brushed metal texture. The one you're using looks like a small jpg stretched to fit the cover template, and you're losing some detail in the top of the image. If you can't find a higher resolution one, it's easy as hell to make your own using Photoshop's native filters, and using some simple brushing techniques to make it look all destroyed like that.

But good stuff, so far. Keep it up.

Love the cover artwork that Cassidy keeps making too. Keep up the great work the both of you.

I have all of DJ's HD2DVD projects, klokwerk, drop me a PM wish list and I'll see if I can hook you up.

Ah, it's not a hidden agenda if she doesn't know she has one. Take my meaning?

Movie Help Needed
Time
This is a chick we're talking about guys, so I don't think something like Tremors & Dune would go over too well!

Just because a girl says, "Pick whatever movies you want," she doesn't actually mean that. What she's really saying is, "Pick the right movies and I'll be impressed that you were thinking about me and you listen." That's the secret.

Here's what you're going to rent - films that will impress your girl and not make you feel like you've sold out. Watch in this order, and I'll give you one reason why it will blow your mind and make you seem like the best boyfriend ever.

1)The Graduate

For guys: What man hasn't been frustrated by not knowing what to do in life, or attracted to an older woman? Smart, witty dialogue.
For girls: Character makes the ultimate romantic sacrifice at the end.

2)The Insider

For guys: Holy crap is Pacino good in this.
For girls: Like the middle act of a play, save the darker one for second. She might get bored, or she might love the story and amazing script, depending on her personality. Doesn't matter though - you're going to end on a good note.

3)Chocolat

For guys: Juliette Binoche is hot, and the story is whymsical and engaging.
For girls: They seem to dig Depp for whatever reason.

The winter months are great for movies like this. Stay away from explosions, foul language and 4 hour epics, and you'll be thanking me later.

Cheers.

I liked Episode I enough to see it in the theatre 13 times, but even I have my limits. I was heavy into SW collecting for the first time since I was kid from 93-02, and I used to see half of that shit and just shake my head.

I was a vegetarian at the time, and I even ate fucking Taco Bell just to get some of the harder to find promo toys, which are worth shit all to me right now.

If any good came of it I'm no longer a vegetarian - Save a cow. Eat a vegetarian.

Also, I would strongly recommend re-naming your HD2DVD projects, because he came up with the name, and it's not cool to copy him.

I didn't see any other post about somebody else doing Night of the Creeps.
I have the very most upright respect for Dark_Jedi. I didn't try to copy or clone or take his "hd2dvd" title.
I just used that because everybody else on this forum is used to seeing that phrase or title.
I guess I can totally scrap doing this since it is already in the works.

I realized just now I sounded a little harsh, so no disresprect is intended. I just thought you should be aware that he was prepping the project to save you some time! Sorry!

Quick question. The cover for "Great Adventurers" is #5. What DVD was #4?

Hasn't happened yet

I love your work DFNYC, I really do...but you are one cryptic bastard.

Nahh...not at all.

I have a bunch of Spielberg interviews from 84 that I want to put on another Temple disc. I also want to try and find the Today Show interview footage from around that time as well.

There will definitely be another Last Crusade disc (or 2 or 3) considering the amount of material there is from that release...and then at least 1 disc for the trilogy. So more Indy will be coming.

Have you heard of the legendary Lucasfilm Archives Walkthrough DVD? Basically it was a couple of guys let loose in the archives at LFL and allowed to videotape all of the props, wardrobe etc, including everything from Indiana Jones and Star Wars?

If you are interested in it as a supplemental material, let me know, I might be able to get a copy and send it to you.

Not just that but the 3 Anthologys and Let It Be Naked and more.

Should've qualified that, then. You said "every fucking album they ever made that was on cd." By my count, that's twelve (UK releases).

Everything that came after that was marketing...
