Iron Man 3
Time

LOVED IT.

Loved the 'Dies Erie' for the Extremis theme. Loved the effects. Loved Loved Loved Ben Kingsley.

Only thing that got me was that the lovely Rebecca Hall has a very similar on screen presense to Gwyneth Paltrow. They sound a lot alike as well. Tiny beef though.

If it's the last we see of Downey's IRON MAN, it was a great ending.

The Enderverse (WAS: Finally! Ender's Game emerges from Development Hell!)

I like how Ender is the tallest kid now. They basically miss the entire point of the book.

This movie might be entertaining to the masses but I think the book lovers are going to hate it.

I put that on how hard it is to get good performances from little kids.

On the other hand, could they digitally shrink him like they did to Captain America?

Speaker for the Dead is an absolute must.

I challenge you sir to a duel.

I've said in other threads, but my distaste for SFTD borders on mouth frothing hatred.  Every character is overwhelmingly stupid. The "scientists" are the worst.

Let me summarize every exchange in the novel.

  • CHARACTER ONE: I know something pivotal, but I'll never tell you!
  • CHARACTER TWO: It doesn't matter, because I'll never ask!

There's a couple of interesting sci-fi concepts hidden behind the layers of stupidity, but if the characters weren't all knuckle dragging cretins there simply wouldn't be a plot.

ps.

But I did like the first couple Bean books.

Well, they've moved on to their second southern white guy with questionable past. They did such a brilliant job with the first. They'll have everyone trained like Pavlov's Dog to think of their "ENEMY" when thinking of the events of this period. I wonder if they are brazen enough to go ahead and present their designated southern white christian male for the "Waco" op.

Somewhere in that swirling nonsense post, are you saying you think that you think the guys is innocent? Am I translating you right?

What is up with French people?
Time

So I've been spending a lot of time working on the David Eddings Wiki, about the fantasy author. A lot of it has been collecting images of international covers of his books.

What is UP with the French? All the covers are weird, random images. Cat people, surreal Dali-esque landscapes, naked duded. Nothing to do with the very standard sword/sorcery novels they put these covers on.

Stupid frenchies.

I think any adult who wants to ignore medical care has that right, based on any reason they so choose.

I think denying medical care to a child should be illegal, even to a child old enough to say "No, you can't save my life with a blood transfusion!"

The parents in that article should be locked up and the key thrown away. There children should be taken care of by someone who won't piously watch them die.

Well, It looks like it boils down to one of three possibilities.      1) Exactly what we are supposed to believe. Chechens and New Elvis and... ... blah blah... jews... ...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The media producers and conspiracy nuts have 1 and 2 well covered. Let's take a look at 3.               ... illuminati...        ....                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ..   ... ...    feces...    Obama and his gang... manifesto...                                                                                                                                                                         It's the immediate emotional response of the sheeple that matters. It blocks or overwhelms anything rational for a majority. New Elvis and "Waco" distracts from the catastrophe and failure while making it about his enemies.

Here's the reason I know your a crazy (or perhaps a troll).

The evidence you present has no bearing on what you believe, and yet to you it is iron-clad proof.

If the Boston Bombers had been Arabs, or Right-Wing Extremists, or Angry Fracophone Quebecer Liberation people, you'd believe the same conspiracy nonsense.

If the Waco explosion had happened tomorrow, or last month, or if the ricin had been sent by a Portugese college professor in Seatlle, you'd believe the same conspiracy nonsense.

If Texas and the ricin hadn't happened, you'd believe the same conspiracy nonsense and act like all the pieces fit.

That's why there's no point talking to a loon. Every single thing is evidence for what they believe in, and everything that DOESN'T happen is evidence that the conspiracy is successfully pulling the wool over our eyes.

People have such short attention spans nowadays that the annual dose may be in the franchise's best interests.

Do they really? There was four years between the last two Bond flicks, and it's not as if people forgot who he was.

It will be 13 years since the last Star Wars movie, and I think people recall the basic plot.

I don't understand. He was really great in that show that only lasted one season, but got cancelled before it could get really really really really really really really really really really really really stupid.

Are you talking about that great mini-series Heroes? I'm so glad they never did a sequal miniseries, or even worse, spun it off into a weekly show.

...it became clear Lucas wasn't lying when he said the OOT wouldn't be on VHS, I bought a bootleg DVD of the laserdisc rips from eBay.

Does this mean that the Original version isn't on any of the VHS releases?....or does it mean you made typographical boo-boo?

It was a typo, which from now on I will always refer to a typographical boo-boos, or TBBs.
