No, MY thoughts on the state of OT.com

I find my personal canon to be Brian Daley's Han Solo Adventures. Other than two characters from the NPR Star Wars, they're a completely separate entity from "The Franchise". They feel right to me.

Anch, I know you're a SW77 man all the way, but I'm curious if you've ever checked out the "Lando Calrissian Adventures?" I've read one, "Flamewinds of Osseon" and thought it was a hoot and a half, very much in vein with the "Han Solo Adventures."

[Article] "It's Time to Forgive George Lucas"

For those of you who feel he missed the point, his email is at the bottom of the article: joel@gizmodo.com. It might be a good idea to properly inform him so that the real issue might get some proper exposure.

I read some of his comments.

"I hate Jar Jar!" and "The PT suxxor" were among the more intelligently put.

Maybe WE'VE missed the point. Maybe being an enraged wierdo who can't get over that the Prequels weren't particuarly good is the natural thing to be, and maybe someone concerned over the continual existence of one of the watershed films of all time is the real wierdo.

[Article] "It's Time to Forgive George Lucas"

What I can say now, after rewatching the best film of the series on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, The Empire Strikes Back, is that George Lucas is directly responsible for one of the things that has given me the greatest, most quantifiable joy (if by "money spent" alone) in my life and no one—not even George Lucas—can sully the goodness that he created.

(emphasis mine)

Except by stealing the original versions of the films from those that loved them.

Dang does this dude miss the point.

... So freedom is an empty and ill-defined notion, and we bomb countries cause we think they have bigger dicks huh? wonderful. Here I thought that things like 911 and Pearl Harbor had something to do with why we bomb countries.

You have to admit that "freedom" is term whose definition is tricky when in America we celebrate the Cost of freedom ("tree of liberty... blood of patriots" and "Freedom isn't free" bumper stickers) and at the same time invade countries and "give"/force democracy on them and wonder why it doesn't take.

And when it comes to why we go to war, Self Defence, Retaliation, or "Whatever Reason We Invaded Iraq" aren't exactly the same as "Freedom."

But the good thing is that you can now finally see just who this douche is as he has posted videos of himself listening to DVD audio tracks

And , as he is ignoring most of us, he will never know he's been discovered. lol

Dude sure owns a lot of speakers.

Perhaps it's funny that in a video all about sound quality, I don't understand a a damn thing he says.

But he does have a self describer "golden ear" so it's hard to argue with him

I dislike that our national anthem (Star Spangled Banner) is all about war. "America the Beautiful" is a much more fitting anthem, with a much more positive message.

seeing as we fought a war to obtain our country, I think its fitting.

True, but not THAT war. The War of 1812 was a meaningless debacle for all involved.

And it has only been our National Anthem sense the 1930s.

I think "The Star Spangled Banner" isn't a very good National Anthem at all.

The lyrics are obscure, and refer to a battle in a war that doesn't much matter. My guess is most people don't understand them at all.

The tune is an old English drinking song.

It's too hard to sing, so we have to stand silently while someone else sings it, usually adding way to many notes in an effort to sound like a pop star, and the high note in "freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" usually gets applause, which drowns out the last line.

There are so many other good songs that could be the National Anthem. "God Bless America" "America the Beutiful" "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven. We need to change.

It's not supposed to be a blast on just McDonalds, its more about how Americans eat so much food that is so bad for them. I can see dozens of people eating 5k calories a day, no problem.

But blasting McDonald's is overwhelmingly the content of the film (the lawsuit from the two fatties, the crying ronald Mcdonald art, the title) and McDonald's is the primary victrim of Spurlock's shock tactics and pseudo-science.

Just covered a coworkers class. Health, they were watching Super Size Me.

The movie makes some decent points about commercial culture and school lunch programs....

...but the science is so bad as to just be lies. If someone force-fed themselves 5,000 calories a day of any food and took no exersise, they would have similar health problems. Can't believe it got nominated for an Oscar.

Season? What are you two talking about?

Firefly was an epic miniseries, like Root, or The Thornbirds, and it was awesome how the final episode was released to theaters. What a great mini-series.

Oh, you mean like that 23-episode Heroes miniseries? That sure was great, wasn't it?

LOL.

I have totally said that exact thing many times. Great minds...

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Last week I lent ANH:R to a couple pals, film dudes, but not HUGE Star Wars fans. They have a giant flatscreen and surround sound.

They just called me and the first words were "Tell me this dude also remixed Empire Strikes Back!!!!" Then there were a string of expletives expressing their approval of the video quality and the changes they noticed.

Just sent the link to the ESB:R trailer. Waiting for a response.

We're in season 3 somewhere of Buffy now. Are all the seasons of a quality, or does it get better/worse as it goes on?

They definitly vary.

I think it grew out of the "monsters as a metaphor for high school" schtick and got better. I thought 4-5 were the most fun. It seemed to be a bit darker 6-7, so a bit less fun for my tastes.

If Lucas doesn't restore it himself in the next eight or nine years, someone will after he dies. Even if his will says "don't release the OOT," mark my words the second the dust settles from his grave there will be a squad of fans, professionals and corporate executives trying to find a way around it, and eventually they will succeed. It's essentially a waiting game, one way or another.

It's a little sad that Lucas, for whom his fans would have once sprinkled rosebuds in his path (and I'll count myself in that) has given them a reason to actually anticipate his eventual death.
