I have some questions, please.

  1. Will there be a version with the original lightsaber colors? Like having Obi-Wan’s remain blue and not green, for example?

  2. I know this is YOUR edit, and I don’t want to sound controversial, but would it be possible to have a version of the PT Revised that includes the parts about Midichlorians? Because personally, I have no problem with them.

  3. What kind of alien/droid voice dubbing will be done?

  4. What scenes are you planning to cut out completely?

  5. How are you going to make the DVD deleted scenes look more presentable, since they were never released in true HD?

Yes as stated in the Op post, there will be different versions due to saber coloring. One a purist cut, preserving all colors. One to be in line with Adywan’s Revisited Trilogy, and all blue except for Luke green one in VI. And my version, in which Jedi Masters have green, and padawan have blue. Mace may still have purple in mine due to him being the leader of the council.

Probably not on the Metachlorians. Though maybe. I’ve considered doing a total purist cut, with only new vfx for those scenes, and no new scenes.

Itll be an actor recording lines into a mic and ran through some effects and eq, and compression.

Like FreezingTNT2 said, Hal9000’s scenes are the best ones available right now. So im using some of them for the few shots i want. Trying not to use too much. The scene of the droid following Ani and Qui-gon though is kinda of needed. I still have more work to do on them though, but i’ve already tweaked some of them. It would be nice if Disney released the 4k versions and included the deleted scenes (hopefully looking better for the 4k disc). We shall see though.

No i have no plans to do the 4k versions if they are released. Not yet at least. I would need a much better computer to handle doing it in 4k. Plus the effects would have to be redone on somethings. I dont know if i could tolerate a 4k Jar Jar. To redo JarJar completely in Blender or something though, i would need a 20k$ computer. I am hoping though i can meet some one good at cgi models and wants to team up. There is a lot i would like to do, but just depends.

To be fair, there is only so much you can do.

Yes, but if that is the case you might want to ask if you can pull it off or if it is even needed. I’m always wary of the “to be fair” defenses when a shot can’t be pulled off. I tried to do a force vision reusing footage and many in the community let me know it didn’t hold up, so I eventually axed it because I didn’t have the skills to pull it off at that time. One problem I have with the prequels is that they show way too much and over explain themselves. I’d have to agree that the current scenes are noticeable at the moment and I view it as a workprint/proof of concept. Hope you can pull it off.

I completely agree. If they can’t be pulled off, then they shouldn’t be done. Definitely all a work print, nothing you are seeing is done. So hopefully i can figure out a way to pull it off in a way that satisfies. Would be a nice scene. I also agree about the prequels over explaining them selves and trying to fix some of that. There are some shots from the attack of Naboo that will be tricky to pull off too. I didn’t even include them all in the trailer. There are a few ambitious shots id like to try and pull off, like maybe a scene of Maul on Mustafar or some similar dark planet as his first establishing shot. I don’t expect to be done though for another year or two so there is time to learn and try things. Rotoscoping is by far the longest process, and there is alottttt of rotoscoping to pull off what i want.

I already like many of the ideas for this edit… Peronally I only use Sony Vegas, so that’s not enough to make radical changes other than color correction and new music tracks.

I use after effects for the vfx and Davinci Resolve for editing. There are other programs that work with after effects to do 3d models that i need to get into. After Effects is really cool and if your familiar with photoshop, it’s an easy leap. Also a lot of tutorial videos out there for after effects.

Considering that in a previous ROTS edit of mine I tried to add rain in the background of the Obi Wan/Padmé scene (and failed), I like how it looks.
The lightsabers actually look somewhat similar to Anakin’s lightsaber in the sequel trilogy, so IMO they look really cool.

The one where he tells her about Anakin? If so that would be a interesting look. Im curious to see that. And i was trying to get the look and color from Empire and Force awakens. I haven’t added flicker to the sabers yet tho. Still so much to do

Yep, that’s the scene. But it looked soooo bad. I love that scene, I think the acting is quite good, the score is a wonderul crescendo, etc. But despite the emotional weight, it’s set during a sunny day. It kinda breaks the pathos.
In my previous edits I just changed the colors to make it look like it’s set during evening/night, but that’s all.

Just got to search around for some good effects over lays sometimes. Long as they are high res or used small enough for the res they are. This is how i got the finger print smudges on the Theed Pilot in the daytime shot. (Though im still smoothing those scenes out). When ever possible, i prefer real things filmed against a green/blue screen, or put to black so that you can use it as a screen. Then mixing what you can do in after effects on top of that. Some things i just can’t do. Like a new Jar Jar with more modern effects. Some one out there knows how to, I’ve seen thins done for Thanos. I dont know what programs to use or where to get started there but im working on it.

Ep I Revised Trailer so far.

Personally, I don’t think Dooku looks that bad. It still needs some work, but the lighting behind him helps…

To be fair it’s obvious that his face was inserted onto a random Jedi

To be fair, there is only so much you can do. Just throwing him in with his ATOC duds and look would be equally as obvious or more. Especially if its just just a still image of him sitting there. Also it’s 10 years earlier so he should look some what younger. The levels i can adjust and mean too. His hair should be darker in the scene. Only way to get him in with jedi duds on though is to replace the original guys head. The fact you know this will ruin some of it no matter what. That’s the nature of seeing behind the scenes or seeing previous versions. I will try some other iterations or attempts though if and when i can. Sometimes its just a matter of getting really creative and resourceful. If you or anyone have any ideas or suggestions though i am open to them. I would like these to be the best versions they can be. Even if that involves working with others. I welcome it.

Where can I find the new trailer with Jedi Dooku? Also, do you plan on re-editing the sequel trilogy films?

Ill just update those links at the top when i update the trailer to make it easier. And i’ve considered it. I know ill do the original trilogy from Adywan just to bring some effects together with mine, namely just the saber flashes, sparks and steam. Though i’ve considered altering the ending of ANH. The sequel trilogy kind of just depends on how it ends and if i can find a good narrative thread to salvage some of it. Im trying to keep all of the movies i edit at least 2hr10min (About the length of ANH). So i have room to cut, but only so much. So we’ll see. I’ve considered doing Mandalorian into more of a movie too. Im sure others have too.

Jedi Dooku looks surprisingly well, IMHO!
And I’m in love with the new Coruscant balcony.

Thank you! Im still tweaking it a little bit but glad its coming out good. He almost looks like Qui-gon now, which is kind of a nice touch since he trained Qui-gon. Was trying a rainy scene for the balcony scene, to add a little more mood to it. Any thoughts on the steam and sparks added to when the sabers clash, block laser fire, and to the blaster when they fire? Still have to tweak some scenes, but i really like when they’re entering the generator room and maul whips qui-gon’s blade to the right of the screen sending qui-gon into the wall. When that happens theres a streak of steam. I thought it along with when sabers clash helped add more power into their swings. (Also originally wanted to do it to replicate some of the look of when Rey fights Ren in TFA. Really loved the visuals of that scene. Which is why you see purple when Obi’s blade strikes Maul’s. To replicate some of that TFA look. Red and blue coming together for purplish flashes. Red and green creates more golden yellow colors. So for the versions preserving all normal colors, you’ll see a few different flashes. Like Sidious vs Mace, which will be more red with just a touch of purple.)

ray_afraid- Right. That’s why he included prequel droids in the trash compactor. Pretty sure his intention was the same as the special edition, just to do it better. Which the special edition was to bring the originals closer to the level of the prequels.

Edit- Not really suggesting here for Ady to do this to his movie either. More just loosely discussing the idea.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>

Well the Emperor was mentioned in ANH. So not a lot of spoiling there. And i wasn’t suggesting using the throne room song at the end either, i was suggesting using the imperial march. Which Ady already included into Anh. Im not opposed to less is more so to say. You can cut the emperor and run it at Roccondilrinon says. The idea is to wipe the throne room scene completely and not end it as a one off film. End it as the first of 3, with a slight cliff hanger. Cliff hanger being, that they only destroyed the death star, and not their entire fleet. So more is to come.

Which yes, im pretty sure every knows the first Star Wars was a one off. There’s a lot that was changed moving forward. Some of which caused continuity errors. Like Qui-gon training Obi. The idea with fan edits is to bring all the movies together into a more cohesive story. Just an idea though i was wondering if i was the only one.

Am i the only one that doesn’t like that ANH ends in an awards ceremony? Ever since i was young it bothered me how much Anh feels like an independent film. I’ve always thought it would/could be cool if they celebrated in the hangar. With some how Leia’s line “Its not over yet” maybe appearing. Then cutting back to Vaders ship that we last see leaving the scene of the Death star. Now arriving at the fleet of Star Destoyers and possibly his super star Destroyer from ESB. (Could even use the unused footage of Vader leaving cloud city and boarding his ship with replacing vaders fighter ship). Vader boards his destroyer. We see him enter the hologram room. Sidious’s face pops up, no words spoken. Then the fade out and credit music.

Maybe a nice way to tie it to the next 2 films?

dgraham414- There will be those for sure. Like i said tho, ill look at it and see what’s up. He only has it for a couple scenes (Speeder chase, and fighting Jango), and working on that movie is still a little way off. If it’s do-able, it wouldn’t clash with my idea. It would just mean that at first becoming a Jedi master, he used Qui-gon’s till losing it. Then using his Anh one in Rots and Anh. Would also show him being too hard on Anakin as he loses his own too.

dgraham414- I may have to leave that to some one else’s edit. My plan for my version, is Obi-wan is a Master in Aotc, Rots, and Anh. Meaning his Anh blade that he has since Atoc is green. Though i was leaving it blue in the alt version for every one else and the version meant to be watched with adywans. Though we’ll see.

Edit-That’s also very hard to pull off very well. Most versions i’ve seen are alright but still kinda of obvious. Just all the angles of the hilt you would need to really pull that off is a lot and hard to do.

Jackpumpkinhead- I agree and those are all still being worked on and tweaked. I still have to add the glow/lighting on the buildings, fix fire elements/use new fire elements, better smoke elements, and lighting on buildings when explosions happen. Then some more tweaking to get all the levels right, blending, etc. Pretty much nothing in the trailers are finished. Just wanted to convey the general direction. I also jump around on the work to different parts of the film. Helps me get an idea of where the film is going. Also if one idea affects another, i can make adjustments easily.

@MisterBenja1977- Masking is the slowesttttt thing about redoing these haha but getting as many elements as possible and a lot of tweaking settings takes a lot of time. Elements have to all be blended properly. A lot of work going into scenes that may or may not be able to be used too. New scenes though, so if i can’t pull them all off it’s not the worse thing. I would love to figure out some new scenes of Maul on Mustafar. Like maybe that balcony scene is on Mustafar too. Im including Jedi Master Dooku, 10 years younger on the council in TPM. Which is actually pretty much done. The Federation connection to Maul and Sidious will be cut. The realization of Sidious controlling them will be revealed in ROTS when they’re explaining it to Anakin before he kills them. Dooku will be with them in ATOK but im likely going to remove the scene of Dooku with Palpatine. Not fully sure on that scene, may just leave it and improve the visuals of the bad cgi.

If any one has questions as to how some of this was done, feel free to ask. Many are working on their own edits and may want to make different changes in their own edits. I use Adobe After Effects and Davinci Resolve. The light sabers for instance are completely re-rotoscoped along with all blaster fire. This is not co-pilots saber app. The dual tone was achieved in the sabers by creating two layers at different colors and strengths. Just rotoscoped a white solid layer. Gaussian blur, with multiple layers at different levels. Precomposed over a black solid and turned into a screen. Using curves allows you to now apply color and brightness strength. If you are changing colors though, you must duplicate main video layer and mask out the saber after using the change color feature. Otherwise your screen will be a mix of the base color and your new color. So change base layer to the color you want. For the dual tone color. Duplicate your final composition layer, with your bottom layer set to darker tone and set brighter, while the brighter tone is on top and not as bright/wide.

Some comparison shots of some of the changes. Washed out, see through light sabers. Sabers passing through body parts it shouldn’t be. Bad cgi backgrounds. And much more. I will try to make a complete list of changes.

Test concepts for completely new scenes, such as actually showing Anakin be a good combat pilot. The Escape of Naboo, and the Attack of Theed will all have new scenes to help support the intended narrative.
