Our Night Of The Living Dead 1990 project (Released)
Time

Good luck, fellas. No one was even willing to share a password with me for THE WILD LIFE (another Team Blu release). It seems its every man for himself around here, nowadays.

If my internet were good enough, I'd help you out.

I could mail a physical copy out, but I can't do it for everyone that comes along as the postage from Australia ain't cheap and its not a real solution - people will be discovering this release for years to come.

If someone were willing to create a torrent and help others out, however, I'd be happy to provide them with the necessary goods.

Good luck.

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

So you're planning to keep it that way in the final release?

Harmy said:

Yes, definitely. Not only because I like it - and I do - but also because the despecialized shots have already been rendered with the matte in place.

Even if one were to convince Harmy otherwise, the "damage" is already done. Let's move on.

This is neither a "preservation", nor a "fan edit". Its a recreation.

A preservation is impossible, at this stage, and a fan edit implies the liberal use of artistic license.

The only artistry here is in the intuition Harmy employs in his stunning work and the level of compromise he feels is acceptable in trying to reproduce the artistic choices of others.

As for the "corners" issue, I had to go back and look at the screenshots to even see what people were referring to. My thoughts?

If they're seriously enough to sully one's joy in this project, I'd suggest they see a therapist and have themselves professionally diagnosed.

Info: Hard Boiled and The Killer
Time

Has anyone got the Criterion commentary for HARD BOILED handy?

I'm putting together a custom-subbed BD of KILLING ZOE and the director, Roger Avary, has expressed interest in checking it out.

I was thinking of throwing in a copy of Matt's HARD BOILED and thought it would be nice to include the commentary that Avary himself appears on. Assuming that it syncs up reasonably well, that is...

Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to add optional letterbox bars to a project like this using blu ray's subtitle function?

There is a "possibility*, using a secondary stream with black bars and transparent layer inbetween it, to do so, but I need further tests... anybody has done/seen it before?

I've seen it done on DVD but not BD.

I already have HD DVD projects in the plan, these are what I am tossing around,

Feast Unrated (Bonus feature having both parts 2 & 3 DVD video)
The Dukes of Hazzard Unrated
Black Christmas Unrated
Midnight Run

I'd really be interested in the BLACK CHRISTMAS remake (aka BLACK XMAS). I thought it was a hoot, even though I'm a big fan of Bob Clark's original and consider it a minor classic.

The remake was lots of fun and enjoyable in its own right, even if it favoured over-the-top thrills over the original's more subtle chills...

I did a casual comparison between the BD and PDB's Temple of Doom LD audio and, from what I could tell, the dialogue panning from the LD was still present on the BD (Willie's panning during the opening music number, from centre to right and back to centre, was smoother on the 35mm-sourced LD mix, though - whereas it almost jumps from channel to channel on the 70mm-sourced BD remix). Can you recommend me a scene or two to check out?
