Sorry, but I spoke too soon. Could somebody else please help DJ out with the US release of Birth of the Living Dead?

*edit, Does anyone have the US DVD of Birth of The Living Dead? it has extras where the UK BD has none.
Yup. I'll make it available to you shortly. Are your PMs turned on?
The Shout release certainly has a punchier look, but it does come at the expense of certain detail. You'll find one example in the following comparison with the Anchor Bay release where, in the Shout version (top), the X-ray photo is blown out.
While the French release is far from ideal, it would seem that it has the most picture information (no cropping, no clipping, no squashing and the least DNR) to work with. I am concerned with the relatively low bit-rate, however, and hope the compression isn't too detrimental to the PQ.
Try this:

What's wrong with the latest Shout Factory release?
To my eyes:
Oversaturated colours. Boosted contrast. Blown highlights. Cropped.
And it seems to have the exact same amount of fine detail as the pre-existing AB master - only it appears softer due to the cropping.
I have to wonder if it was truly a new scan.

I have a very nice quality SBS Version of Friday the 13th part 3. It utilizes the Blu Ray for One Eye and the DVD for the other. For all intents and purposes it's HD and looks great.
I would LOVE to see this. Did you make it yourself? Or is it out there, y'know, for the taking?
Nyeah, I once left out the "-" when referring to BD-Rs, here. Big mistake. It was jumped on immediately. I've hated myself ever since.

Hello,
Could someone be generous to provide me a link to get the mono track?
I thank you in advance.
Sorted.

Does it happen in the other 2 movies any where?
Yes, on their respective title cards (e.g. "1935 - Shanghai").
Would anyone be interested in taking a crack at the video for DAY OF THE DEAD?
The Anchor Bay and Scream Factory releases have their pros and cons and I think the ideal presentation would lie somewhere between the two (ie. the AB transfer, minus the DNR + something a bit closer to the Scream colours, minus the contrast boost).
Fortunately, the French BD seems to use the Anchor Bay transfer and without the excessive de-noising or squashed (to 1.85:1) presentation.
I have it and would gladly fix somebody up with a copy should they wish to pursue such a project.
Anyway, you can check out the various versions here:

No matter what I try (Nzbclub, binsearch), I only get two complete files using my astraweb account. Even the pars, which are many in number, are all incomplete. I've downloaded the files twice and left quickpar to do its thing for 30+ hours but, ultimately, it said it didn't have enough blocks.
Has anyone, besides dlbsyst, had any success in downloading this?

Thanks to the link provided by dark_jedi a while ago I was able to download both the Theatrical and extended cut versions of this project, but before I could find the time to watch them, the Hard Drive I stored them on corrupted, and unfortunately lost them both.
Wondering if anyone might consider sharing them with me again, I would be be willing to upload them on my seedbox to share with others.
Thanks
Hi, sorry about the belated reply but I only just saw this.
I am willing to fix somebody up with these movies as long as they are willing (and able!) to share them with the community.
If I can burn a single copy of each disc and mail them to somebody (at my own expense), safe in the knowledge that others will benefit, then I will gladly do so. Because I'm a nice guy, see?
Sadly, I cannot help out with individual requests.
So, feel free to PM me to get things rolling.
I would love to see the MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE disc but I must've missed the post explaining how to obtain it.
Last I recall, DJ was still trying to determine how to make these available online. I've had massive problems obtaining Team Blu's stuff from filehosts in the past (despite paying for a premium account) but myspleen came to the rescue in the end.
But ever since Team Blu's releases were all torn down from myspleen, it seems they've become the privilege of a select few.
I'd gladly fall over some of these releases - if I could only get close to them!
Try myspleen.org (I've sent you an invite). I know they have a few KS related things over there.
These are finally back up on myspleen. Get 'em while they're hot.
Good question. Unfortunately, I can't remember the last time that I watched the movie in anything but an exceptionally inebriated state. And by that I mean totally shitfaced.
I think 'Chase The Ace' plays as the kid is making his escape from the baseball field on his bike and later, for much longer, when the newlyweds are being chased by the truck.
I'm thinking that 'Sink The Pink' might be the song that plays on the jukebox (before it commits suicide) in the Dixie Boy.
Oh, and I don't know which release of 'Who Made Who' had that booklet but it definitely wasn't an early one. AC/DC put out a lot of deluxe remasters oof their albums about 10 or so years ago.
Yup. Got a scanner if need be but won't be able to do any scanning for a week if you need it, I'm afraid.
Oh yeah, I'm not a fan of that version of the song at all but it is unique to MO so it is interesting from that perspective.
It'd be nice if we could find high res versions of these booklet scans as they might make good background images for the interview:

Okay, I got my AC/DC bluey back today afterall and extracted that file.
When you watch it on the disc, you just get a gallery of all their albums which are selectable and, when done so, play the relevant sound bite - so only the audio is really of any use. Anyway, here's the 'Who Made Who' bit (which is a healthy 5 minutes - some album reflections only last 30 seconds) in its native AC3 format:

Do you have the Fangoria #56? and I would like that audio file you have from the LIVE blu-ray if you can rip it, what form is it in?
I actually never knew there was 2 versions of that song You Shook Me All Night Long, now I will have to see\hear what the differences are lol.
Thanks
Yep, I own that issue of Fango but I also have it in .cbr format which I've uploaded here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/h2jk5p
Lemme know if it doesn't suffice.
I can rip that audio file from the AC/DC blu ray but I don't have it on me at the moment and I'm going away to work for a week in the morning. Happy to do it when I get back, though.
Here's the alternate MO version of 'You Shook Me All Night Long':

OK so does anyone here have any good stuff or ideas for Maximum Overdrive extras? if so please fire away, right now we have the trailer and that is about it, I have a great idea for the music but we will see if it pans out.
Thanks
Nope. Not really. But I just wanted to say that I love that movie. I'm looking at a framed vintage MO poster as I type and have a MO t-shirt around here, somewhere...
Dunno what your great idea for the music is but I know that the Anchor Bay DVD actually used the version of "You Shook Me All Night Long" from the movie for its menu. I think it plays in its entirety. For some reason, the 'Who Made Who' soundtrack album just used the 'Back in Black' cut so the DVD is the only source for that version that I know of.
Oh, and Fangoria #56 had an article on the film - but I'm guessing you already knew that.
EDIT: Just thought of something! In the extras on the AC/DC LIVE AT DONINGTON blu ray, the Young brothers talk about (audio only) meeting Stephen King for the first time and agreeing to do the soundtrack to the movie. Lemme know if you need it.

Well, that sucks.
Apparently, this MOD release is in 16:9 widescreen:

If this presentation is correct, it suggests that the full screen release was open matte, not pan & scanned.
And here's a recent Q&A with the star and director:
