Well, here's an idea: maybe they use the force to keep lightsabers on/switch them off? I mean, if it was how they were trained then maybe using the force to keep a switch or a pressure sensor on would be easy, almost second nature. This is sort of an imperfect idea, I know, as I'm not sure how great Luke's force abilities would have actually been in ANH/ESB, but if it were easy enough then he might have been able to catch on quickly? It would certainly account for lightsabers staying on/going off at a user's will even when not in said user's physical possession. Thoughts?

That would make sense, except in ESB, Han uses Luke's lightsaber to slice open the tauntaun, and as far as we know, Han has no Force abilities.

I guess we're getting off topic. I've got another question about ESB:R:

Is it possible to fix the white soles of Chewie's feet that are visible when he is running from Cloud City with Leia and Lando?

Here's a bit of an odd question, and I don't think it's been addressed previously:

When Luke's hand is cut off, his lightsaber shuts off as it (along with his hand) falls out of view. However, shouldn't it stay on? I don't think his severed hand shut it off on the way down the mine shaft. lol

If you look at Vader, His cape is on his back and not on his shoulders like it usually is.

This made me notice a continuity error. When Vader kneels down to speak to the Emperor, his cape is on his back with his shoulder pads exposed. However, in the next shot, his cape is over his shoulders. This change occurs in a matter of seconds.

Here's the opening of Jedi that I'd love to see. It's quite close to what Possesed is working on for his edit, but still different. I'm no good at posting pics to show exactly what I'm talking about, but I hope you can follow.

Opening text would have to be altered to mention that Luke has returned to Dagobah to continue his training.

After opening text, we pan down to Darth Vaders Super Stardestroyer near the uncompleted Death Star

Cut to Darth Vader in his mediation chamber talking to Luke telepathically through the force urging him to join him on the darkside.

cut to the deleted scene of Luke in the cave working on his new light saber. Edit the exterior of the cave to resemble Dagobah. Luke shakes the voice in his head and continues working and then igniting his saber.

Cut back to the Super Stardestroyer and we see Vader's shuttle leave for the Death Star (why was he leaving from a standard Stardestroyer originally?) continue to the original opening scene with Vader and Jerrod.

After that, cut to Yoda's hut on Dagobah for Yoda's death scene. After Luke says "So I am a Jedi." Cut Yoda's line about having to face Vader again and just cut to him saying "When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be." This way we get the idea that Luke has continued and now finished his training with Yoda. Yoda dies, the conversation with Obi-Wan is had and then cut to the Emperors arrival on the Death Star. That scene plays out like normal and then cut to the droids on Tattooine and continue from there.

This would give the beginning of the film a more menacing tone with Vader still haunting Luke and more of a build up to the action at Jabba's palace. Agree? Disagree?

 Enthusiastically agree.

What can be done to make Yoda's dialog in ROTJ clearer? I showed the trilogy to a first timer awhile back and she couldn't understand a word he said in Jedi but had no problem understanding him in Empire. I had to put the subtitles on for that scene. I've been watching it since it's release, so I guess I'm accustomed to what he says, but listening again with fresh ears, she's right, it's very difficult to understand. I dunno if it's the DVD sound that makes it hard to hear or if it's always been that way and I've just deciphered it over the years, but it really is horrible. Anybody else have this problem?

Agreed. I also showed ROTJ to a first time viewer, and I realized how difficult it is to understand Yoda, particularly during his dying scene.

well you must have been watching it frame by frame to spot that one. It isn't visible when watched at full speed because the blink it too quick. I've fixed it anyway

I actually wasn't watching it frame by frame, but I'll take that as a compliment of my eyesight. :P Thanks very much for fixing it! :)

Holy hell......how are some of you even catching stuff like this? Is it really enjoyable to watch a movie under a magnifying glass like that?

Oh, the only reason I caught that was because I thought that one of Yoda's new blinks looked slightly odd, and it took me a while to figure out why.

And I definitely don't watch movies like this, I was just scrutinizing Ady's amazing efforts. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! :D

I've two questions:

As seen in my picture below, Yoda has three ridges of skin on his eyelids. However, in one of the newly added blinks, he has four. The blink should look more like Yoda's closed eyes that are in the end of the scene, with the three ridges more stretched out, because in the newly added blink, the fourth ridge suddenly appears from out of nowhere (this is visible in motion). The first added blink, when Yoda says "No! No different, only different in your mind!" is perfect, because the eyelids actually stretch over his eyes, but this one looks a bit odd when you look at it closely. Can you fix this, Ady?

Also, Ady, I don't remember this being mentioned, but are you planning to change the red coloring of the bacta tank in the shot where it's visible behind C-3PO? It was clear when Luke was swimming in it...

Thats it! I hate it when something bothers you, but you don't know what's bothering you about it, so it bothers you even more. If that makes any sense.

I understand. But why does that bother you? It's not necessarily a mistake, Yoda could just have a (asymmetrical) crooked back.

Is it just me, or does Yoda look a little "off" in this scene? It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is... I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Is it because Yoda's hunch isnt in the center of his back but more to the right?

Sorry, but i really don't see it as a problem so i'm not going to reconsider. The ship could easily have sunk in that amount of time. Showing signs of it sinking that early is unnecessary. In the scene you're supposed to be concentrating on Luke's training and if you showed something happening to the X-wing, then your attention is shifted. And again with Yodas eyes when closing them. Yoda's really old. there are a lot of old people who have one eye that doesn't close as quick as the other, or even close fully. So i don't see this as a problem

The jerky camera movement recently mentions i'm not going to touch. It isn't something as simple as just stabilising the video. Look closely and you can see that Yoda doesn't move, but the background shifts due to the camera. Now if i stabilized the background then suddenly Yoda would move for no reason. I don't see things like this as a problem, so no work to do on that.

Okay Ady, it's your edit, do your thing. :)

What about this suggestion?

Ady, I have one more suggestion regarding Yoda in the clip. Right after Luke is unable to raise the X-Wing, Yoda sighs and shakes his head. When he shakes his head, his entire upper body shakes along with it, and it looks puppetlike, as if the head isn't articulated separately. Now I don't know how hard it is to do, but would you be able to stabilize Yoda's body while he shakes his head?

I said this on the FB copy and want to see if I'm just crazy: am I the only person who thinks the X-Wing should be starting to slip into the swamp as R2 to turning to watch it? 1. Why would he turn to look if he didn't suspect something and 2 I think it goes from perfectly still and all the way out of the water to the last part of it sinking rather quickly.

I completely agree. Ady, what do you think?

Also, in the shot directly following the part where Luke fails to raise the X-Wing, Yoda closes his eyes in disappointment. When he closes his eyes, his right eye closes much quicker than his left. Is this going to be left in, or will you fix that?

I actually prefer not knowing that there is anything wrong with the X-wing until R2 goes nuts and puts Luke off his concentration. R2 could just be sensing something that we are unable to see or hear. And i don't think that Yoda's eye needs fixing

Ady, I respect your decisions but I urge you to reconsider. The X-Wing couldn't have possibly sunk so much in such a short span of time when it was fine just a moment ago - making it start to sink in the first shot would make it more believeable. And about Yoda's eyes, it looks odd to me that Yoda's left eye takes about 2 seconds longer to close than his right eye, why would he close them separately? What's more, he never actually fully closes his left eye, which I believe was a puppeteering mistake. Also, in that same shot, the camera makes a jerky motion after Yoda closes his eyes and before he lowers his head, can this be smoothed out? This happens at 1:56 in the .mkv video.

I've never seen this fishing line. Can anyone circle it for me? I've looked and looked!

Here it is. I raised the brightness and contrast for it to be visible, but it is much more visible in motion.

Ady, I just realized that the shot where we see Yoda after he fell off Luke's feet is a flipped shot (the bump above his eyebrow is above the other eyebrow, and the ears are mirrored). Will this shot stay flipped or can it be fixed? If it can't be fixed, it's fine if it stays flipped, it's not too noticeable.
