Adywan, or anybody making an edit of ROTJ, is free to use these:

If for whatever reason these two particular takes of the line aren’t up to snuff I’ll add more.

Wow, this sounds great.

That guy with no name said:

ady already said he has a darth vader voice actor… he never said anything about ai.

I know he didn’t, I was saying other users brought up AI software and editing in JEJ’s voice from other sources. Didn’t see that Ady already has a Vader VO actor, that’s good.

Hey Ady, I know there was a lot of discussion a while back around using clever edits or AI audio to tweak certain Vader lines in the Revisited projects (changing “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” to “Your mother once thought as you do” in ROTJ, among other changes), but all of those attempts sounded a little unnatural to some degree. I just came across this voiceover artist whose Vader dubs are the best I’ve ever heard, he absolutely nails the OT-era JEJ voice.

Here is his channel:

He openly offers his contact details for using his voice in production in his video descriptions, might be useful for any dialogue edits you’re trying to make in ANH or ROTJ Revisited.

Ady, random question. How much of ANH:R is going to be Native 1080p, or is there some upscaling required (I.E. from Topaz)?

Adywan posted this on the Revisited Facebook page two days ago:

“For the past couple of weeks I basically locked myself away and worked solidly transferring all the work I did for the 720p HD version over to the 1080p footage. Many shots have been pretty straight forward, just altering the composition resolution and replacing the 720p footage with the native 1080p footage and adjusting any effects to the new, higher resolution. Not all shots are as easy as this though, so quite a few are having to be done from scratch. But shutting myself off from the net for a couple of weeks worked wonders, and I can now inform you that I have already completed the first 56 minutes of the movie. This doesn’t mean, however, that this will be finished any time soon. I had completed about ¾ of the film in 720p but the remaining ¼ was shots that require a hell of a lot of FX work, rotoscoping etc. I should be able to post a short 1080p clip this coming week sometime.”

EDIT: I just realized this doesn’t quite answer your question. But, unless I’m wrong, it sounds like so far there’s been no upscaling per se, but maybe there will be some in the remaining one-fourth of the film Adywan has left to do.

Just curious, is this issue where Vader’s helmet is messed up going to be fixed?

Agreed, this needs to be fixed, not only because Vader looks silly in this shot, but also because his helmet is established one film later as being hermetically sealed, so it doesn’t make sense for it to be flimsy/tilted back here.

Yeah, I like the line too. It’s the first crack we see in Vader’s resolve, furthered by his stare at the gantry window. I was kind of spitballing, as a lot of us seem to be torn about some of the dialogue choices in ROTJ. I saw that line appear on a few cut lists and was curious about where we stood on it. I’m glad we’re in favor of keeping it!

The Luke/Vader stuff doesn’t really need any dialogue trims.

I’ll agree that we don’t need to trim that particular line, but I do think that some of the Luke/Vader dialogue needs to be trimmed or altered. Vader repeating the line “You don’t know the power of the dark side” from ESB is lazy and doesn’t give us or Luke any new information, it’s an empty taunt at that point. “I must obey my master,” I’d argue, is a line that telegraphs Vader’s turn at the end in a more on-the-nose way than the “too late for me” line, and I think I’d be okay with its excision.

Yes, R2?

That’s all right. I’d like to keep it on manual control for a while.

(Untranslated beeps)

Was that creative license or did you have a source? Because I always thought R2 was saying something like ‘it’ll take me some time to calculate the jump to light speed’, like Dagobah is really out of the way, and R2 isn’t really prepared for such a journey. Then Luke’s reply is like he doesn’t mind the wait. Otherwise how do you ‘manually control’ a hyperspace route? Doesn’t really fit with what we know about Star Wars space travel.

Even so ‘would you like me to take over control?’ is kind of a clumsy sentence, mate!

The source is the Aurebesh on the screen. All of the letters have a direct English translation.

I thought the new hangar matte behind the three talking guys stands out as a little too crisp compared to the actors in the foreground. But it is certainly better than the original.

Agreed, it seems to be even more sharp than the actors. It should be blurred/grained up a little bit. But definitely better than the bad matte painting from before!

Amazing work, Adywan! I never expected any less. Worth the wait!!! I don’t have any complaints other than that my name is spelled wrong in the credits, but it’s not a big deal.

I believe Ben Burtt’s name was misspelled in the end credits as “Benn Burtt.”

These errors will be fixed for the Blu-Ray.

Adywan, just finished watching it all the way through, absolutely amazing work! I love that you added such wonderful subtle details like condensation on Han in Carbonite and the spider on Dagobah.

My only complaint is that, like asterisk8, my name was misspelled in the credits – it’s written as “Max Gersham” when it should say “Max Gershman.” If it’s at all possible to fix it for the BluRay that would be great but it’s no problem either way, I understand if you want to leave the credits as-is.

Also in regards to text, I noticed that a few parts of the English subtitle track have little errors like no punctuation in one part and a few words being omitted (Han calling Leia “sweetheart” isn’t written out in the subtitles a few times), but again, no big deal if it’s left the way it is.

Thank you so much for this massive undertaking. It’s surreal to think that it’s been a little over 9 years now since the project was started. We all appreciate you so much for persevering and giving us something truly magnificent.

Update from Adywan on the Facebook page:

Adywan

The Wampa test shoot was promising. The ideas i had seem to be working, but they’re not 100% there yet. still some tweaking to do. But I’ll be doing the proper shoot this weekend and then it should take about a week to complete the compositions. So i will know by the end of next week whether or not the new Wampa will be included in ESB:R.

The wampa looks fantastic and is a dead ringer for the original puppet, really holding out hope that it will go as planned and will show up in ESB:R.

It’s amazing how many commenters here respond in all seriousness to tongue-in-cheek suggestions.

(Forgive me, for I have Frinked)

If this is in response to the question of whether or not the new Wampa stays in the film, I am conscious of tongue-in-cheek responses but what INVAR wrote about it being cut out is completely plausible. Ady even said that if the new Wampa won’t work, then he will be scrapping it, and removing all shots of its face would take care of that.

Just wondering if what INVAR said is true, though I’ve not seen Ady mention anywhere that the Wampa did not work out at all.

So does this mean you got the wampa to work if so i really can’t wait for june 😃

No. No Wampa. Like the mechanical shark in Jaws, Ady could not get the Wampa to work. So, taking a cue from Spielberg, Adywan has decided that less is more. There will be an augmented white blur that knocks Luke off his Tauntaun, and the suspense of not knowing or seeing whatever malevolent force is lurking out there in the snow will enhance the entire experience. In the cave sequence, shadows will cover the threat approaching Luke’s hanging form in the cave with some of Williams’ academy award-winning theme from two years earlier intermixed with the Force theme to build the tension. As the shadows grow closer with audible growls of the unseen creature approaching, Luke cuts himself free and swings the saber and we are left with that single furry white arm falling cauterized to the snowy floor - leaving us to our frightened imaginations of just what it was that attacked Luke.

Wait, is this true? Did the Wampa really not work out? 😦

The Wampa looks amazing, Adywan. My apologies if this has already been covered, but do we know specifically which shots will be replaced with the new Wampa? Will the growling closeup of the Wampa be replaced with this one? Because Ady’s version looks to be based pretty closely on that one. Or will only the full body shots of the very different looking Wampas be replaced with this one? In which case, how will it be filmed, exactly? Will it be superimposed on the full body shots, or will it be filmed in snowy backgrounds with a full fur suit?

Again, sorry if this has already been discussed.
