MattmanOmega's Rebellion Collection & 720p AVCHD of OT Theatrical Vers. (Released)
Time

Rockin apparently has seen it:

rockin said:

I grabbed it, and watched the 720p version. It looks pretty good, although I think there is some weird sharpening going on, which I am not a fan of. The rest of his collection seems to be sourced from an older GFORCE script, as it looks somewhat similar to dark_jedi's GOUT V2, but certainly not as good as GOUT V3.

I think what he has done is commendable.

Also, judging from Rockin's description, the script produces about the same results as G-Force's earlier scripts, so I would assume there's a bit too much noise reduction. Wasn't excessive noise reduction a problem of the early scripts?

On a seperate note, has anyone actually verified that the Youtube user rafiguroian, who posted a recording of the beginning of the Senator Theater Star Wars showing, just has the beginning and not the whole thing? Forgive me if this is common knowledge or if one of you is rafiguroian. I sent him a message but he never responded. If he had more of the performance, it would make a great source for seeing accurate colors.

EDIT: Dark Jedi, I own both sets. I don't think there was a difference in color between the 2004SE DVD release and the 2006SE DVD release. I believe it's the same disc.

Here’s info on the ESB AVCHD (again taken directly from Mattmanalpha’s original post):</span></span>

A few months ago, I created a custom “Rebellion Collection” DVD set for the theatrical versions of the _Star Wars _trilogy. It got me wondering if I could upscale the movies to near-HD quality…and not have it look like total junk. I figured Empire would be the easiest of the three films to try.

After several failed attempts, I came up with this AVCHD version, compatible with most Blu-Ray players. Given the condition of the source material available, it’s far from perfect. You can’t polish a turd…but you can pour enough glitter on top of it to make it sparkle
Video is presented in 720p at 24 fps, remastered and upscaled from the 2006 “Limited” DVD. The average bitrate is 8mbps.

Audio is presented in 2 different mixes:

  1. The original 35mm sound mix (Dolby 2.0, 224kbps)
  2. The THX home video remix (Dolby 2.0, 224kbps)

MattmanOmega's Rebellion Collection &amp; 720p AVCHD of OT Theatrical Vers. (Released)
Time

Jetrell Fo recently brought the Rebellion Collection to my attention on this thread. It looks pretty nice. It’s got the original theatrical audio tracks of all the films and a truckload of special features. I did a little more surfing on tehparadox and found another Mattmanalpha release. It’s a 720p AVCHD of the theatrical version of Empire Strikes Back. Seriously, has anyone checked out these releases? How do they compare to the GOUT V3 or the LFL Pwnage?

Mod Edit: as from the info given a couple of posts below - this is a complete OT project (and not just an ESB project) - as was originally titled.

What version is this?
Time

Wow! Is there a thread about the Rebellion Collection? How did a set like this go unnoticed? It looks pretty cool. Has anyone checked it out yet? How does it compare to DJ's V3 or the LFL Pwnage?

EDIT: HOLY! Mattmanalpha also made an AVCHD of the original Empire. How are his releases going unnoticed??? Has anyone checked this out???

EDIT: EDIT: Would anyone mind if I made a thread about these releases? They look pretty awesome.

Nice work, zombie84! The colors seem so vibrant and realistic. People don't look all sickly anymore. Star Wars finally seems like it's in technicolor.

Also, I just looked at the link you posted Dunedain. That shot of an unrestored crawl looks amazing! I've never found this site before. It looks quite fascinating. What exactly is the Star Wars: Legacy Edition? Is it a restoration of the original version of Star Wars? He says that the standard definition restoration has been completed long ago. Does this mean he has access to a DVD quality restored Star Wars? What is Mike using to gain such high quality images? Is he using film? Will he release them? Sorry for asking so many questions but his project looks simply fascinating, especially if he's using an original film source...

Wow! Nice job, zombie84. Your shots also have great colors! They don't look exactly like the photographs from the Senator Theater, yet they still look good.

On a separate note, did anyone check if the guy who made this video and goes by the username rafiguroian recorded anymore of the Senator Theater performance? Is it possible that he recorded more than just the opening? It would prove a great color reference source. I tried to contact him but didn't get a response...

How many of you watch the Clone Wars series regularly and what do you think of it?
Time

Hi everyone. I personally don't watch the series, not really liking the animated movie that started it. However, my friend and I were discussing that he didn't think I was truly a devoted SW fan, as I didn't follow the series. I had always assumed it was just prequel quality, but then I started looking into it. I kinda think it might be worth looking into, with the Qui-Gon appearance.

So, how many of you watch it? What do you think of it? Also, how does it compare with the older Clone Wars series (which I actually liked)?

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Wasn't there a whole romantic hallway scene between Luke and Leia that emphasized the love triangle? Also, I think there are scenes of Luke recovering and having this mask placed on his face. I really hope that Lucas doesn't decide to "Special Edition"-ize the deleted scenes for the Blu-Ray. I have no problem with him finalizing them (putting ambient noise) but I have a bad feeling that he may go further.

Well actually, DJ just released a new transfer of the JSC laserdiscs. ChainsawAsh recently commented on it in the GOUT V3 thread. However, it seems to be exclusive to those who donated blank Verbatim discs for the project...

I actually think it would also be interesting to see a non-DVNR source with better color timing; though, it will be softer since it's from a laserdisc.

ChainsawAsh said:

It's nice to see the movie without all the DVNR smearing and other weird GOUT glitches, but the image is noticeably softer, and the colors seem a little wonky in some scenes but a little more accurate in others.

And that's pretty much exactly how I expected it to look, so you've done a good job!

Though I'm not a donator and will probably never see this set, I am curious; how does the quality compare to Arnie's V8 and Dark Jedi & Segaflip's collaborative transfer of it?
