Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I'm going to try and use the BDtoAVCHD program to shrink it to DVD-5 and I'll let you know how it goes.

Hoping the quality of the picture/sound stays close to the same.

The quality is normally relatively good and there's always the 2-Disc alternative if you're not satisfied. Just try "slower" or "slowest" mode for best results; if you go too fast, then you'll definitely see some quality loss.

Hello Lee, do you want me to upload your 1997 SE LD transfers to some file-sharing website? I remember some people wanted a non-newsgroup upload awhile back and I'd be happy to provide now; of course, I won't do this, if you don't want me to.

People seem to have gotten interested in the 1997 versions recently, and I consider your version pretty much the best laserdisc transfer out there so far. This is pretty much the best smear-free version available

Is it possible to split the HD version into TWO DVD's?

I only have single DVD's. Not the Dual Layer DVD's.

Yes it is indeed possible with a program like TSMuxer. It's pretty user friendly. You can make 2 discs and input the start/end time of each.

It is also possible to use a program like BDtoAVCHD to shrink it all to one DVD-5 with relatively good results. It does take awhile though.

Info: 1997 SE DV Broadcast Info & Discussion
Time

So, to clarify about the Digital Broadcasts. There are a few 1997SE Broadcast DVDs:

 1. Flunk- ANH- (available on myspleen, soon to be available on multiupload)
 2. Reivax- ANH- (available on myspleen and multiupload)
 3. G'kar- ANH, ESB, and ROTJ (trilogy on myspleen, ESB and ROTJ on multiupload)
 4. TB- ANH, ESB, and ROTJ (?)

Is anything missing from that list? In my experience, the Flunk slightly edges out the Reivax in terms of less smearing but also is subject to some garbage frames... The G'kar is substantially more compressed and lower quality than the others. I'm not sure if there's a Flunk for ESB and ROTJ...

As you can see, the only ones that I'm not completely sure about are the TB releases. Can anyone share these ones on myspleen? I'd be happy to repost to multiupload. They're probably superior to the G'Kar.

what's with the guys that look ready to repel a boarding party?

Didn't notice that part. It would be interested if the Falcon was boarded. I've always wondered how that would look, as it was mentioned as something Vader wanted to do in ESB. In any case, there are probably enough Rebels onboard the Falcons that they can spare some to be ready if the Empire does indeed try to board it.

Doctor Who
Time

All of this could be true, but in my opinion, I really think the cloister bell was part of his fear, which is why I'll stick by my theories of universal destruction for now. Another possibility is that the cloister bell could have been signaling an impending regeneration, like it did with the 4th Doctor. That could certainly make sense since the Doctor has previously not wanted to regenerate...

In any case, this was a great episode, and I'm actually glad they didn't show what was in the Doctor's room. Also, a nice touch was the Doctor calling Amy "Amy Williams" at the end; it was long overdue but a very sweet moment.

SW Episode III - Reign of the Dark Side (* unfinished project *)
Time

To me at least, the red lightsaber emphasizes that Anakin is set on his path to darkness and, in Obi-Wan's opinion, cannot be removed from it. He can only be incapacitated/killed, which Obi-Wan fails at. I suppose it does go against the "brother vs brother" theme, but it actually could end up making Obi-Wan look sympathetic since he's attacking someone genuinely twisted and evil. It also happens to appeal to classic imagery (blue vs red) from the OT.

I always assumed this would be in the final edit. Is that no longer true?

Silverwook I'm not surprised by the request of the social security number though. In Italy it's quite commonly requested and we still don't have many cases of identity theft, that's a concept I only learnt in the UK and from Family Guy lol.

Interesting... As an American, I'm unfamiliar with such practices. LOL at you learning about identity theft from Family Guy; that episode was hilarious.

I changed the thread title for you guys, so go ahead and take over this thread, it is all yours now.

Ah sorry for taking the thread like that. Does this mean your 1997 Blu-Ray project is no longer on?

In any case, I know I asked this on another thread, but is the DTS 5.1 audio track legitimate or home-upmix? If it's real it could be fantastic on 1997 preservation sets.

Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)

Yes thanks Aluminum Falcon for the true 4:3 version, that border is a real lame move.

You're welcome. As it is, I'm disappointed they couldn't do a transfer from the original film, which would probably have been for the best. I am however glad that they didn't try to DVNR the cartoon to make it cleaner, a practice these days which sometimes has horrendous results.

As for the Holiday Special, funny thing: I walked into my local video rental store yesterday looking for the Star Wars Blu-Ray Extra Discs and also found that they had a VHS of the Holiday Special as well as Star Wars Casting Auditions...
