Let's just say that this movie is incredibly cheesy -- not an endearing cheesiness, either, but an embarrassing cheesiness. Almost all Burton films are like this, though, so I can't really complain -- not too much, anyway. I just wish Tom Jones wasn't in this movie -- his presence took me right out of the movie.

I'll finish by saying that I'd probably like this movie a whole lot more if the Martians had been realized through stop motion, which was the original plan, instead of CGI.

 I think it's Burton's best film. Satirical, silly, colourful and violent. I'm not a fan of CGI by a long shot but I thought it was very well executed in Mars Attacks!. Doing it with puppets would have been almost impossible (I was tempted to leave out the 'almost').

Everyone in it is knowingly either chewing the scenery or camping it up like christmas. How can you not love a movie that has Piers Brosnan as a pipe smoking boffin who gets decapitated, has his head stitched on to a dog and then has a love scene with SJP (Who is also a frankenstein dog) :-D

It's cool how the Martians don't seem to have any specific plan to conquer earth they are just being ar*eholes. Like when the Martian ambassador pretends to pull out a raygun just to frighten congress.

Also the bit where Tom Jones summons a bald-eagle (Symbolising the USA's victory and rebirth) by singing 'It's not unusual' is insane genius.

But yes actually. I liked Christensen as Anakin, not the actors fault that the script was bad. Plus McGregor had nailed Kenobi by the time of ROTS IMO (Again battling against an excrable script). I've no doubt that if Hayden and Ewan (And the rest of the PT cast) had voiced TCW it would have been improved.

ANH's script wasn't right at all but luckily Lucas' wife and her colleagues saved it in the edit by choping out all the bad bits. You watch all the boring, waffling extra scenes involving Biggs and those are just the bad bits that were shot. Every piece of deleted material that has surfaced (Even 1 or 2 second clips) reveal very bad dialogue. And as for the very early drafts they were dire, truly dire (Have you heard the sh*te they read out in screen tests?).

If it's true that Kirsch rewrote bad dialogue in ESB (As is often said) then that doesn't speak well of that film's script either. Plus I've said before about the 'Dues Ex Machina' of the Falcon having engine trouble just long enough for Luke to train with Yoda is very poor/lazy plotting. It's only Kirsch's superb and witty direction of his characters/actors during that sequence that allows us to enjoy the asteroid interlude enough to generally not notice how badly thought out it is.

If it's also true (As is often said) that Marquand didn't have the same clout as Kirsch to rewrite/change things, then ROTJ must be almost undilluted from script to screen and therefore the best!

One can argue what the best finished product was (It's ROTJ) but surely ROTJ clearly had the best script.

One thing this show has going for it over TCW is that we aren't pre-destined to hate the interpretation of these characters because they are brand new. So even if they suck at least you can't point to a film where Alec Guiness et al did them better :-D

Yes silly me you are right. But maybe it was the knowledge that two Droids were running around with the dangerous Death Star plans that tipped Tarkin over the edge, into commiting mass genocide. Without this time sensitive factor he might have just kept torturing/interrogating Leia for weeks until she broke, died or he gave up.

Alderaan wouldn't get destroyed and the Yavin Rebel base wouldn't get discovered. Then some Bothan spies would eventually smuggle out the plans anyway (Because the Empire are rubbish at holding on to their plans). Then the much stronger and more prepared Rebels assault the Death Star with the help of the fully Academy trained and force sensitive Captain Skywalker. The DS by this time has the Emperor and Vader aboard so when it blows they die too resulting in the same outcome as ROTJ.

Difference being that Han is still an ars*hole (If he escaped the clutches of Jabba), Leia and the droids are dead, Luke's family are still alive and still have a regular supply of slave droids, Lando is much richer and more powerful and Ben and Yoda are very, very bored with their lives... also somewhere on Hoth a Wampa still has two arms.

 In terms of your hardware "being able to play" PAL or NTSC, it will and it doesn't matter (With most modern hardware anyway). It's only if you've got a region locked DVD that your player might refuse e.g. R1-NTSC or R2-PAL (Revisted will be region free so no problem).

Even my heavily locked PS3 will most anything I put in the drive, as long it isn't region locked.

 Sounds like a software glitch to me, reinstall windows or wipe everything and start again would be my course of action.
