STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

The Emperor doesn't really articulate well in Episode III, he just mumbled and somehow his voice was clear, and I always thought it was that way because he just underwent lightning surgery. By RotJ he apparently got used to it and speaks just fine.

In ESB though, with the DVD hologram, he looks just like Episode III Palpy. Adywan corrected this by using the RotJ face and the normal mouth, but that doesn't help his speaking problems. What, did he go to a speech therapist between V and VI?

Palpatine sounds different in Episode III because Lucas and Burtt went full bore mental, Colonel Kurtz style... any "in universe" explanations for the differences are just for giggles.

From the tests I've seen Adywan's EpV Emperor is gonna look and sound just like ROTJ Palpatine, which is the moment I'm looking forward to more than any other part of ESB:R (I'm expecting Mount-Everest sized goosebumps ;-) ).

(I guess ROTS:R Palpatine will be like ROTJ Palpatine too).

I wish that I could filter this thread to only contain posts by AdyWan, so that I did not have to wade through all the chatter about unrelated stuff ...

The ESB:R facebook is more in that vein.

Anybody seen the new Robocop? I was assuming it was awful and wasn't going to waste my money. But although some have reviewed it very badly...

(Skip to 7.15 for a mega rant including the phrase "Stunned by the mediocrity" NSFW)

...including one side of the BBC...

...while the other side of the beeb and others have quite liked it. Mark Kermode for example...

I'd really loathe spending my movie-going money on a cheap cash-in but if it's actually good, I'd like to see it... hmmm

At least I am honest...

Look "Honest" up in the dictionary. I'm reasonably sure Piracy isn't included in the entry.

The Terminator said:

Sorry, I won't bring it up again, and I WON'T profit from the edits AT ALL.

Doesn't say you won't still sell the edits, only that you won't put a fee on top.

Clearly.

(btw I didn't hear the apology to Adywan?)

My computer keeps restarting itself. What the #$&@ is causing it?

I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem I was having with ads popping up or not. If I leave my computer alone long enough(usually about an hour or two), it restarts itself. It doesn't seem to happen while I am actively using it. But when I leave it sit there doing nothing for long enough it restarts itself. Any tech savy people here have any suggestions?

Ad pop ups:

If you are on Firefox, go to 'tools', 'add-ons', 'extensions' and see if there is anything strange installed. My just sorted out my parents PC that had 4-5 spy programs installed in there and that's despite having an active anti-virus program.

Switching off:

I had an very old computer that would restart whenever I did anything intensive like render a video/boot up a game etc which I put down to overheating, although I could never be sure. But your problem of shutting down when you are doing nothing sounds the opposite. If it doesn't restart when you yourself are putting additional strain on the hardware, I can't see how it could be overheating or faulty/old components.

Have you tried opening up 'task manager' and seeing what processes are running. Anything look out of place?

Or could something be running in the background? I recently did this (Method 2)...

http://www.pcworld.com/article/241049/how_to_disable_windows_startup_programs.html

...and it sped up my PC about 10% (On the performance monitor). It takes along time to google and readup on what all the processes do, so you can decide if switching them off is safe or not... but worth it.

Try updating all your drivers?

Try restoring windows back to a date before it started happening?

Before ditching the hardware I'd reccomend a clean sweep reinstall of windows and all your drivers and programs. Usually sorts out most catastrophic problems.

Gary Oldman briefly talks about Star Wars.

He is a great actor. It would be nice if they cast him.

No she's got the stink of Robocop2014 on him. He needs to do a few more Dark Knights, Tinker Tailors or Leons to get back in to my good books now ;-)

But seriously, if he can do one character better than the great Alec Guiness could, then why not another!

I think the main writing credit goes to Mark Gatiss who plays Sherlock's bro Mycroft

I liked the Series 3,......but it felt a bit wasted with the wedding episode.

Maybe watch them again,...now that I know what to expect

J

Episode 1: Mark Gatiss

Episode 2: Stephen Thompson, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

Episode 3: Steven Moffat

1 genius obviously (It's Mark Gatiss), 2 crazy head-spinning fun, 3 a shambes but still entertaining.

With seemingly everybody using the same darn sound effects library, it can be hard to avoid certain things. Watch old Universal tv shows and movies, and the exact same loud shrill telephone sound effect pops up every time. (It was used even in the 90's.) I think even Ben Burtt once mentioned how much he hated it.

If you're listening to a specific song or bit of music when you get bad news, that can set up an unfortunate association in the mind that triggers an emotional response whenever you hear it again. I have one or two of those. :/

Everybody probably has a tune that's like nails on a chalkboard whenever you hear it, but why that is I have no idea. There was one summer where a Paul McCartney song was on the radio about 100 times a day, and I couldn't stand hearing it again for decades afterward. I'm cool with it now, but there are others in my personal audio torture chamber I can't write off to overexposure.

"Muuull of kintyyyyre!! Ooooh mist rolling innn from the sea... my desiiiire..."

(^ If it's that one, it's not a phobia it's good taste)

Maybe slightly off-topic but if it's "wierd things that wreck movies for people?"

For me it would be characters we are supposed to like, ignoring waiters in restaurants. Kinda makes me instantly think they are actually rude pr*cks. Even in a scene like 'Jack Rabbit Slims' from 'Pulp Fiction' where the waiter isn't just an extra (He's played by Steve Buscemi), our two heroes just sit in uncomfortable silence while he serves them their drinks, no please, no thanks, no cheers, not even a smile or a nod... I'd have p*ssed in their 5 Dollar shake and Vanilla Coke! ;-)

This specific alarm sound...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoX7vd30zq8

...spoils and takes me out of any movie or videogame it's in.

I worked really long nightshifts for a few years so I needed something loud and unpleasant on my iPhone to wake me up and make me go switch it off (Setting nice sounds only meant I'd sleep through them). The iPhone uses that exact sound ^, it was only later that I discovered that a few movies also used that sound and I'd developed a 'Pavlov's Dog' like response to it... of feeling almost physically sick at the dread of getting up and going to work exhausted.

An entire level of Wolfenstein on the PS3 (Which I had been enjoying) has that alarm on full blast all the way through. I eventually had to play that level with the sound off so I could get on to the rest of the game LOL

^ Nice photos!

If you're having problems displaying flickr photos?

It's because they made it more difficult in the last update. You need to bring up the image, right click and select the resolution you want, then right click again on the resized image and select 'view image' from the drop down-menu, the link in the browser bar will now be what you need to paste into a link.

^ Liked this one a lot.

EDIT: Sorry, this post was made before the information about Woody Allen's "interests" came to light. My apologies.

You wrote that post in 1993!?!

OK, before it came to my knowledge, anyway.

Yeah I know I was kidding, but he has been somewhat suspect for years after being caught taking naked photos of and then marrying the 20 year old girl he'd raised as his 'adopted' daughter since she was about 9. But there's never been a shred of evidence against him.

The question of wether you can divorce an artist's body of work from their private lives and personnal politics is a tough one. Allen's a film-making genius no question but for example, it would be a tough ask to view one of his greatest film's 1979's 'Manhattan'. Which is partly about the 42 year old Allen having a relationship with a 17 year old girl, without pausing to think. It seems terrible if his body of work should now be dismissed or diminished if he's not done a thing wrong.

Other artists like Michael Jackson, Mel Gibson, Charlton Heston, Morrissey, Wagner, Charlie Chaplin, Elvis, Roman Polanski, Ted Nugent, Leni Riefenstahl etc etc have possible troubling aspects about their real lives. Can you view their work on it's own merits, I don't know?
