The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)

What is the matter with the sound and music?

As IsanRido suggested… it’s a problem of having the music high in the original mix. The visual editing and VisFX are easy, but the total rescoring side of this project is a big issue.

Is there still a download for this? I would love to see this.

There is only a VERY ROUGH (Audio wise) unfinished version from quite a while ago. It also doesn’t include some of the newer changes like the remade pan-down and Falcon takeoff FX. But despite the very unfinished state some have told me they still really enjoyed it. I’ll send you a link.

I remember hearing rumors about a live action series happening, but then nothing happened. I kind of wish they’d do a live action series.

They will do a live action series… they will do everything with and to Star Wars in time.

We’ve moved from the era where George did very little with the franchise (TV/Film wise) but all of it was mediocre, to an era where Disney will throw everything at the TV/film wall and we get to enjoy the stuff that sticks. It’s not perfect but it’s better than before.

If the new Star Trek show is a hit, I’d imagine a live-action SW show will be announced soon afterwards.

Terrible DVD/Blu-ray Cover Art
Time

Astonishing cover.

Naturally that isn’t Branagh on the front. Understandable, as real likenesses can be pricey. So it’s the clipart option. Shall we go for a random non-specific medieval English/French Knight of the period depicted in the movie? Nah, why bother when we’ve got this viking photo right here!

If you look really hard you can spot that the charging combatants at the top are probably from the Napoleonic period (by the curved cavalry sabres).

By the way, the edition also comes in 3D!

Did he not participate to a degree in the editing of the first film?

you haters made him quit.

I don’t think that’s true is it.

Editing, as with many things, is something that George was very good at once. His original cut of THX-1138 is one of the best edited films there is IMO. Of course he went back and ruined it many years after. I don’t see any evidence of those skills in AOTC.

I know there’s a good editor in him, he’s only forgotten. The prequels haven’t driven it from him fully.

Ahhh, 2016, the year when it was suddenly totally cool to post massive Game of Thrones spoilers all over the internet like you don’t give a f**k about anyone else.

You can’t be angry about spoilers and also wait 2+ weeks to watch an episode after it airs. One or the other, not both.

I didn’t wait 2 weeks. I watched it on the day of broadcast, yet had still had it spoiled weeks in advance.

My point was a general one about GOT spoilers suddenly now being everywhere this year, when for the previous 5 seasons people had been surprisingly respectful and considerate of other people. But I was disappointed that people is this community were now doing the same.

And that’s exactly why I did it. Because the shit is everywhere.

“Lots of other people being inconsiderate = license to also be inconsiderate”

I don’t think that would be a very valid defense in a court of law. Something like…

“Oops! I wasn’t thinking. Sorry guys. Image removed”

…would have been more than adequate.

I remember last month someone became very irate at me because I said Han Solo died in TFA. It’s your fault if you didn’t watch it in a timely manner.

DEAL WITH IT (meme)

Yes, a program that aired 2 weeks ago on exclusive paid-for subscription services and has yet to be released on home video for all to purchase… is exactly the same as a film that was out half a year ago and has been on DVD and streaming for a month.

However, when you say “last month someone became very irate” could mean you spoiled it for them JUST before the DVD came out? In which case = also a d*ck move.

Geonosis looks too much like Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom/Mars. Younger audiences wouldn’t catch the reference, but I did, and it took me out of the movie.

Maybe it reminded you of the Barsoom from your own imagination but for others probably not. It’s just another red planet. Vulcan being a red planet doesn’t take me out of the end of ST3. Of all the multitudinous things wrong with AOTC, this seems an odd one.

Personally, I found that Tatooine looked too much like Tunisia, which really took me out of Star Wars.

Awesome Star Wars art (pic heavy!!)
Time

Really? Because about 15% of her midriff is visible, that painting is sexist and a misrepresentation of the character? It’s an imagining of Rey in a future adventure, in an imaginary future costume. It looks just fine to me and has captured that quiet strength that we saw on Daisy/Rey’s face when she finally “Feels the force” and takes down Ren. e.g.

I’m sorta picturing her standing still, at one side of a stone circle while Ennio Morricone plays on the soundtrack 😉

In any case, there’s a difference between sexy and sexist as any fictional Rock&Roll publicist will tell you. Now THIS is sexist SW fanart…

The platform heels on the second one are the worst, I have no words …and I don’t even know how to quantify this…

The "Name that Movie/TV Show I Can't Name" Thread
Time

Good thread idea.

There is one that has puzzled me…

I think it was a late 60s/early 70s American counter-culture/hippy(possibly?) desert road movie, of the Easy Rider variety. I saw it when I was probably too young to understand what it was all about but found it weird and interesting and for some reason it stuck with me like a dream half-remembered. I think I recall a scene with characters blowing smoke rings outside a diner/bar/ranch-porch or something.
