^ Controversial I know ;-)

Tried 'Yub Nub' and it didn't transition from the pyre music as nicely. btw I like ending on an iris over the 3 ghosts, works a little better than the 'group photo' shot IMO.

It was SilverWook who raised the question of Vader's body not disapearing in another thread, so I thought I'd give it a shot. To really sell the idea, an FX skilled editor would need start Vader's body disapearing in the preceeding shot and add a subtle deflation of Vader's suit. So his chest sinks slightly like a final exhale of his soul. Much more tricky to achieve, but much more effective. Also more work on the music and sound FX would be needed (I just blended in Yoda's death music).

I'm of the opinion that all Jedi should disapearing when they 'Join' the force. I don't like the vague bullsh*t answer from ROTS, that Obi-Wan and Yoda are the only ones that could do it because Qui-Gon told them how to meditate better. Wonder what it would look like if Qui-Gon had disapeared from Kenobi's arms at the end of TPM. Would mean losing/drastically-altering the bizarre funeral scene where everybody stands around really close watching (And presumably listening/smelling) his body burn.

Yeah, Hamlet being haunted by his dad was soooo lame. ;)

I presume what was left of Anakin vanished between Luke dragging him onto the shuttle and escaping the Death Star. Lucas said somewhere the armor was empty when Luke burns it. Had we seen the body vanish in the movie, that would have spoiled the ending a tad...

If it's the usual retcon by George, one can presume Ben and Yoda helped him cross over. Qui Gon didn't vanish either.

Hadn't thought about Vader not appearing to disapear, if you pardon the expression. The armour does look empty on the pyre now you mention it. If any FX savy editors are listening, I'd love to see a mockup version of the hanger bay scene where Vader's face disapears leaving just the armour. Just to see how it would play emotionaly.

I just assumed that the real reason Jedi's don't vanish in the PT was because George realised that they all needed to die and having hundreds of Jedi's all vanishing would look silly. It would've been like a bad FPS when all the corpses vanish 3 seconds after you shoot them. But then he never really explained it by the end of the PT. Just some throw away nonsense about Qui-Gon.

I don't think any force ghosts are needed in the ST as all the character arcs were all wrapped up in ROTJ. I always felt that when Luke gives them a contended smile in that last scene in the Ewok village, that it would be the last time they'd apear to him or anybody. Yoda, Ben and Anakin probably went to whatever the Jedi equivelant of the undying lands is ;-)

Here's a thought: Deliverance banjo music on Dagobah. Right after Luke arrives on Dagobah.

LoL, not bad.

Might be cool if it's subtle and just something you barely hear somewhere in the background.

Or, have Kermit playing his banjo somewhere in the background the entire time.

Wow just darken he image slighty and add a blueish/brown tint and Kermit is on the dagobah set!

Emanswfan's Prequel Trilogy (Ep II Opening Clips Now Available)

I think the double line is a problem. "Qui-Gon would never join you" to "I will never join you" is not right.

"Qui-Gon would never join you and neither will I"

or

"Qui-Gon would never join you and I won't join you either"

Would be natural ways to express that sentiment, of course Obi-Wan doesn't say that ;-(

The disgusted way Obi-Wan says "Qui-Gon would never join you" implies the second statement anyway.

I don't think anybody would be thinking Obi-Wan would say...

"Qui-Gon would never join you but me I'm flexible"

In the office when he quickly switches off the DS plans, how about he's actually watching the bit in Pulp Fiction where Jules and Vincent enter the apartment.

Almost like that's how he knows Sam Jackson has come meaning business.

Or Mace could catch him watching this Portman scene...

Yes, actually.  Like my beard?

It makes you look even more dashing, if that's even possible. Panaka must be either green with envy or swooning along with the rest of us. *siiiiigh*

Just make sure you always keep the beard neatly trimmed Ric, otherwise you just look like a tramp...

The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)
Time

Here is a VERY ROUGH test of the new version...

Visually it's more or less there but the audio is unmixed, untouched and incomplete, so bare that in mind. I also haven't touched the crawl yet. It features...
- 3 temp music tracks
- 10 deleted scenes and alternate shots
- A number of re-arranged shots
- B&W and film-aging filters throughout to try and match in the material and approximate the fabled workprint

Hope you all enjoy it.

You should give JJ's 2 new Treks a go, they're alot of fun. Plus you can be safe in the knowledge that since it takes place in an alternate time stream our old friends are still safe.

Most rate 'Voyage Home' very highly, not me. Sure in isolation it's a very funny lighthearted comedy, but a Star Trek film, I think not. Where is conflict between the characters, the dastardly villain, the agonising moral decisions and of course where are the thrilling space battles?

If ST's 2-4 where a standalone trilogy like the SW:OT, fans would be up in arms about STIV! Can you imagine if we'd walked into theatres in 1983 and discovered that after the epic build up in ANH and ESB, ROTJ had just been Han, Luke, Leia and co d*cking about in 1980s San Francisco and saving some Whales?

btw Would love to see Shatner's much longer cut of ST5 before the studio ripped it apart.

Interesting idea I've had since noticing that the Alderaan is the Capital of the Universe in the comic.

Would have been a cool PT idea if Alderaan was once the planet where the Republic Royal Family lived (Princess Leia being the latest in the line). For generation's they ruled in Peace as nominal heads of state with the Republic Senate alongside. Kinda like ancient Rome.

When the Emperor took over he moved his capital to his home planet, like Stalin building Stalingrad. He deposed the Galactic Royal Family but left them inplace on Alderaan, not then having the strength and support from all the systems to have them openly killed.

So it would be entirely natural that come ANH with the old Senate finally swept away, that he would use the Death Star to crush his old enemies. As far as I recall, there's nothing in the OT to contradict this idea. In which case I might start belieaving that Leia is the "Once and Future (Queen)" of the universe, in my own personnal imagination ;-)

JJ's STID named worst ST film ever in convention vote...

http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/star-trek-into-darkness-named--worst-star-trek-film--073112668.html

Quote "Doesn't bode well for Star Wars, does it?"

Here's the rankings in full:

13. 'Star Trek Into Darkness'
12. 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier'
11. 'Star Trek Insurrection'
10. 'Star Trek Nemesis'
9. 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture'
8. 'Star Trek Generations'
7. 'Galaxy Quest'
6. 'Star Trek'
5. 'Star Trek: The Search For Spock'
4. 'Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home'
3. 'Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country'
2. 'Star Trek: First Contact'
1. 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan'

WTF SERIOUSLY!?!?

These people clearly need to watch these films again (ST5 is underated, so is Insurrection but something has to come bottom) Not naming the abortion that is Nemesis as worst is madness. Ranking Galaxy Quest in there is great though and the top 3 is spot on. If anybody is interested (I'm guessing not lol) then here is my ordering...

01. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
02. Star Trek: First Contact
03. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
04. tar Trek: The Search For Spock
05. Star Trek
06. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
07. Star Trek Insurrection
08. Star Trek Into Darkness
09. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
10. Star Trek Generations
11. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
12. Star Trek Nemesis

The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)
Time

I've decided to scrap the work-in-progress on this one and start fresh. I've become dis-satisfied with the look of it and the poor quality of some of the source video. From here on in I'm wanting it as close to HD as possible.

This time I am...

- Scaling back some of the harsh contrast (From the last version)

- Leaving the original aspect ratio intact

- Inserting the deleted material where and when I feel is best (Rather than as the draft script dictates, as that didn't really work)

- Cutting it all visually first with no regard to sound

- Then constructing an FX track with no music (Somehow) *

- Then creating a music track from the rumoured temp music *

- Blend that all together

- Release that version

- Only then start work on replacing the visual FX shots

(*I may swap the order of these two stages as the music will be way more fun lol)
