The Indiana Jones Project (Released)

Has this made it onto one of your releases? Also, I have a bonus 5th disc that looks very much like it is a 10 minute edit of The Making of Raiders. Are these two different things? I know you've discussed this here before, but I didn't see anything at first glance in the "featurette" that isn't in the Making of.

So, apart from having a 35mm print, would 'Raiders' sourced from the original laserdisc synched with the audio from the DVD be the closest thing to the original theatrical run?

That depends whether you mean the 35mm theatrical run or the 70mm theatrical run. If the former, then I suppose you'd want the LD all the way; if the latter, you could do what you said, but as everyone is implying, the official DVD is pretty great as is.

I didn't know the new 5.1 was taken from the 70mm/6-track - thanks, Neil. One thing that sounded very different to me (compared to memory, so...) was the part in Temple of Doom just after Indy has picked up the Sankara stones from the giant skull and before he goes into the mines - there are loud screams coming from the mines, which I don't remember from the theatrical version. Also, didn't that snake used to turn around???

The Official Dark/Sega Special Collection OT LD Release Thread (Not an SE Transfer) (Released)
Time
Thanks, D_J & Moth3r,
these shots provide more evidence that the SC is an invaluable source for the ultimate preservation. It's not just that they are brighter (though they are) - they actually do contain more detail than any of the others (which are all DefCol or "Faces"). This indicates that LFL did more than add temporal smoothing for the THX editions - it seems they also played with contrast, and probably brightness and colour. The Tantive whites are screwy on every edition and I think the issues with shot #4 have to do with the general oversaturation of this transfer. The colours themselves look good overall besides this. I'm looking forward to D_J's new edition.
