IJ, FYI there is no region 1 disc, only a region 0 (all regions) PAL disc. However, there are many (but not all) US DVD players that will play it.

AFAIK, the original end credits were also in Franklin Gothic or News Gothic, like the Lucasfilm logo, "A long time ago.." and crawl body - although they were re-done in a different font (matching the prequels) for the DVD release.

As far as parody commercials go, far and away the best is the UK commercial for "Tunes", which I believe was out sometime in the 90s. I haven't seen this on a DVD, but it belongs on ADM's spoofs collection. Anyone here who hasn't seen it should seek it out.

I have been in touch with The Phantom Editor. He confirmed that there is indeed a DVD version of The Phantom Edit with commentary, similar to his excellent Attack of the Phantom (and different from Rik's Phantom Edit 1.1 and MagFan's Phantom re-edit 1.2). IF I manage to get a copy from him then it will of course go straight to Rik (and a few others here) for distribution by the normal channels.

Yes, I saw those samples Moth3r, thanks. They are indeed a significant improvement but it looks like there's unrecoverable detail in the dark areas.

Thanks for that, TR47, I was still wondering about that v1 vs v2 audio thing - good to know. Moth3r, your idea is very attractive in theory, but I doubt that a natural-looking picture can be recovered from the DVDs with colour/gamma correction (although it could be significantly improved). However, I'd love to be proved wrong.
