a Star Trek thread...
Time
me three. The original cast movies had alot more substance in them than the NG series and movies. That was why I liked them the best. Give Star Trek a rest and do something else for 5 to 10 years. Get it off of the minds of the writers and such. Let them explore different things than come back after the hiatus and watch all the good ideas just flow like water off a cliff.

I actually liked star wars before I liked star trek. I remember being a 6 year old in front of the tv eating cocco puffs at night while me and my dad watched star trek three. good times. I never could get into ST/NG or DS9 that much the relationships were too hollow compared with the OS and the Original Movies. My favorites are 2,3,4, and 6. Of the NG movies that have come out, I like Nemesis the best.

For all you mac lovers our their (this is for you dayv) :)
Time
actually Shirmaa is right both the mac and the pc's have their pro's and con's. For instance, macs are better for profession applicatins like photoshop and audio and video stuff. Pcs on the other hand are more for layman users. they work great for data entry, word processing and such. The one thing that neither is really good at is being strong render farms. That is exactly what the SGI workstation is used for! So don't be bashing either of the machines. They are like people each is unique and has it's own personality.

As far as crahing the system goes, i have both a mac and a pc and I haven't crashed either of them once! The pc is running on Windows 2k pro, so you can explain that one away. the mac is just not crashable as far as I've seen. Of course one time I had to force quit a program that was not responding to me... But that wasn't necessarily crashing the machine.

I would love to get an SGi machine and a Unix OS one of these days. Just to see what that works well with and whatnot.
