Just finished watching The Return and can confirm it does not delve into the supernatural. The Ithacan noblemen are depicted as scheming and taking advantage of the locals in order to somewhat justify the “grand finale” mentioned by @Channel72.
I think they were trying for a more grounded interpretation. The thing that took me out of it was the fight choreography which is like something you would see in a stage play. Not very realistic at all.

Lame.

And now I’m back to getting fucked over at work. Knew it was too good to last. I’ve tired to find another job so many times over the years, always in vain to be stuck here. Maybe this is just my lot in life, perhaps after all the years making this my only marketable skill, maybe I deserve this.

You don’t. Never believe otherwise.

Then I see whats happening in California, and it reminds me to put things in perspective, and then I feel like an asshole for saying all of this.

This speaks volumes to me. You’re a beautiful human being who loves your fellow Man. I know too many people who fixate on themselves but never consider the plights of others.

Save that pity bullshit for the dumb fucks who attack other fans and their legitimate arguments by calling them “haters” and gaslighting them.

I’m not a fan of that clique. So-called SJWs and anti-SJWs are two sides of the same toxic coin to me (though the latter are much worse, if only because they’re far more vocal).

What is your personal Star Trek canon?
Time
  • Spock was conceived through genetic engineering, not copulation.
  • Religion is alive and well in the 23rd & 24th centuries. In fact, it’s in better condition than ever before; divorced from the state, in open dialogue with science and philosophy, dogmatism and fundamentalism have died through attrition. Pluralism and syncretism are the rule, not the exception. Likewise, New Atheism is a rare animal; atheism still exists, but nontheists and theists are able to dialogue in good faith, without toxicity.
  • OG Borg were completely alien; there were no human-type Borg until El-Aurians, and later the Romulans, were assimilated into the Collective.
  • There was no Borg Queen (or Borg King, or Borg Sovereign of any kind) prior to the events of “I, Borg”. Picard & co’s attempt to introduce the concept of individuality to the Collective had an effect, but not the one they were hoping for.
