Regardless of what is included in this boxset I won’t be buying it.
I’ve bought the Star Wars Trilogy 9 times in different formats and releases since the early 90s. I think that’s enough commercial contribution to Lucasfilm for multiple lifetimes.
I hate both. But I hate Hayden in ROTJ more. TBH any prequel invasion into the OT pisses me off the most.
I’ll take Han shooting first long before the Jango Fett Kiwi accent in TESB for Boba Fett. I’ll take all the CGI in ANH long before the lone CGI Dugg in Jabba’s palace.
I grew up with the OUT on VHS and saw the SEs in the cinemas as a teenager. I felt most of the additions were meh. It wasn’t until the 2004 versions were released that my venom for the SEs came about and it was mainly due to the prequel invasions in the films.
That’s the print fade. What youre seeing is a faded print. Each reel has been color balanced but the fade remains. Later versions are color corrected.
You may very well be but the site you’re giving your information to stopped being credible (or relevant) about a decade ago.
I have read a couple of people writing this about TDB. Can you explain the reason you feel this way? I’m curious.
I would suggest a brief pause to get ahold of the better-compressed source.
Actually this is pretty good timing as we will have LUTs ready and tested to correct the OT colors. Which will mean we can release corrected versions within days of the commercial release in 4k and hopefully in HDR.
Unless they change the color timing between now and then…
That’s really interesting. So what your saying is that there is a single video file with flat colours, then depending on what sort of display and resolution your TV has determines which grade metadata is applied to the video?

Do you think that the issues are consistent across shots and scenes? Or are some coloured well other coloured poorly?
Will a single LUT correction for each film fix this issue? 😉
Is this an issue caused by HDR being played on an 8 bit display? When I play any HDR Bluray on a non HDR display then the picture looks grey and dull.
Please note that my country doesn’t have Disney plus yet so I’m just going off the conversations here.
EDIT: No, on closer inspection of these screencaps, the picture is just coloured so it looks dull. Not an issue with HDR.
But man… that looks nothing like a 4k remaster. Just like another color grading.
Can you give a bit more detail of what you mean by this? What indicates it isn’t a remaster?
Can anyone comment on the colour grade of these?
Yeah I was disappointed to see that also.
Still waiting for details on this latest batch of Blu-rays Disney is releasing in September. I am hopeful that they will be struck from the new master and not just repackaged 2011 versions.
If that fails we just have to wait until November for Disney+, then at least it should be the new masters albeit special editions.
I’m very keen to know whether they use the new master for this or the existing 2004 master.
Even if they used the new master that is the SE versions of the OT I would be very happy with higher quality versions with improved colour timings.

1.2 DNR is far superior to 1.1 with better DNR, sharpening and a new color grade. 1.1 is kinda redundant now.

Would it be possible to pin all your most up to date shots to the beginning of this thread? It can be a little confusing going through the thread to find your most up to date as you often iterate on shots.
Not a criticism, just interested to track your progress.
Neverar’s is by far the best version available for picture quality and colour.
You could then use the 4k77 DNR version to replace SE shots.

Are your thoughts that shots within scenes are fairly well matched and thus the film would require scene by scene correcting as opposed to shot by shot?
