Half Life 2
Time
Didn't play it, but read the reviews. Sounds like the only complaint is that friendly AI blocks doorways and gets itself killed. Other than that, graphics, sound, weapons, storyline, play control, enemies, level design, mood...

Basically it got everything right.

I'm not a PC gamer, but when the xbox version arrives I'm all over it.

UPCOMING DVDs

Yeah. I mean no. Got my fill of Ewok movies pre-puberty. Used to love them, though. I liked the super fast guy who looked like a goat.

As for Star Trek, I don't know if I need the special edition but I love that movie. I really liked Insurrection, too. It was less like a movie and more like a two-part episode, so it doesn't have the univeral appeal. But for those of us who loved the show, it was right up that alley.

Important news for vegans and women!!!
Time
Reference Monty Python's Flying Circus, season I. The expose (with an accent over the e) on men who lead dual lives as mice...

Anyone seen it? It's a great satire for all this stuff we're talking about.

I saw CSI once and it made me sick. Some bondage hooker got suffocated. There's a reason I don't go to bondage places and for that same reason I don't want it in my house

ROTJ is worse than I remember.
Time
I know we all want to have Zahn's children on this site (well, most of us) but I really was impressed by the Specter/Vision books. I thought in the original zahn trilogy he really captured Star Wars well, much better than the PT did. Then the PT started coming out, all these other books that more or less twisted the Star Wars universe into an entirely different beast than it was originally. What I thought happened in Zahn's second set of books is he not only re-captured the feel that Star Wars had before any of the extra stuff came out, but he actually used the expanded universe and twisted it BACK into what Star Wars used to be.

Like finding OT, those books really revitalized the whole thing for me.

What? ROTJ? What are we talking about here?

Video Games - a general discussion thread

BG&E is awesome. I stood on top of the lighthouse for a while just watching the sun rise and set.

It's a short game, 5 or 6 sittings will do it (if you play 2 hours at a time). The controls aren't too tight, but the game mechanics aren't too demanding, control-wise. It's just a mesmerizing, enveloping game with worthwhile exploration and awesome execution. Highly recommended.

Unused force ability?

Maybe one night the midichlorians were smoking out and gave Yoda some "visions."

ROTJ I CAN remember the first time. Or rather the second time, but at that point I didn't remember the first time, so it was all new to me. I was home sick from school and I watched. It was so gosh darn exciting. I think because i remember how it felt the first time I still like it a lot (see ROTJ sucks thread)
