A sync of the mono is on MS, totally in sync with the new Blu-ray. You just need not to mux it with any other logo at first than the Orion logo.

I have taken possession, through another interested party, of the french mono track ripped from the early french DVD. I converted it to PCM and will sync it to the current Blu-ray in the next month. Probably will up it on MS too in DTS-HD after this.

Isn't the australian mono even on laserdisc? Too bad. I can do a restore of the DD track if you want. It's easy to sync to the Blu-ray image. I tried it, and they appear to be the exact same master source. It's on sync the whole film.

Got my hands on GBU Leone nut. Sadly, the presentation is now technically lacking. There are strobes in all pan shots, and jumps in audio levels when one source is used to patch the other. Also all the pictures changes are distracting (it would have been cooler to just use one source for each scene, rather than mixing them).

However these are nice tries, perhaps it could be cool to update them.

Original DVD release was Road Warrior print woldwide. It's sightly cut (actually it's the US theatrical cut).

New version on Blu-ray is Mad Max 2. Longer cut with extended violence, but it lacks some of Papagallo dialogue in the first part of the film.

I would like to get a script which can combine the colors of the DVD to the Blu-ray picture. Fixing the missing parts should be easy, they are only a couple of seconds.

That would be the russian hdtv -- I also did remux my Pal DVD to 24fps with the correct audio synced, so it's like mini-hd (better res than the NTSC).

One can see the Blu-ray is stuck from a new source (probably the negative) but is not color timed. The colors are dialed down and there's a green haze over the whole film to hide that fact.

Is there a way to combine the DVD colors with the HD image?

DJ, do you happen to know which subtitles would fit this restoration? Would that be the early DVD release subs?

Do a search here, there's already a Matrix restoration done. BTW the LD colors of The Thing are all wrong. To achieve a better presentation, you should completely retime the whole movie, but you have no reference to what it actually looked like in theaters.

They both look crap. The UH version thought offers more detail even thought it's DNRed. People mistake mpeg2 compression artefacts with grain for the first issue, and this help hide the lack of detail.

For the last example, the color pictures of the movie (the one that were outside the theaters were closer to the middle version.

That nice, can you explain how you combine the luma and chroma? Cos I want to do the same for Mad Max 2, the Blu-ray have color problems.

Look, a few pixels of additional framing won't make it up for the resolution and the grain. HD-DVD master is the way to go. The Blu-ray all look like total DNRed crap. No remaster will be coming because no one cares about Carpenter movies apart from the fans. They already remade this film, so I'm sure they think the 2012 version is better and more "modern" and are happy about the old version DNR image.

DJ, so all one have to do is to swap the m2ts file in the Blu-ray folder for the main feature, and reburn?

Rydstrom somehow is out to destroy everything he did good. The celebrated soundmix of T2 thus do not exist anymore on home video, replaced by a remix that have no dynamic range but everything LOUD.

His T1 remix is also crappy and universaly criticized by people who have heard the original mono mix.

I wish he would step in and correct those for future releases.

I like the new Thunderdome blu-ray audio, but would definetely like to compare with the LD. DVDs sounded absolutely crappy.

Yes I'm going to get the Matrix one. I didn't like the Aliens one thought, it makes the movie looks like some badly lit TV movie.
