Return of the Jedi - The Spence Final Cut (Released)
Time

Haha thank you for your feedback! That was very detailed. I think the music in Vader's death is going to be hit or miss for most people, I personally love it and am very happy with it, but I understand why some would not.

Again, the way the battle moves out the window, the Death Star only appears in the shots that it, geographically, would. It might seem a bit funky, but that's what makes sense.

This will be up on FE.org main page today, so I'm told. Those of you that have or will review it, would you mind reposting over there?

I highly, highly recommend choosing another piece.

 No.

And I would like to table the discussion of using Requiem/Two Towers. I'm sorry if you youtube fans no longer want to watch the edit, but I'm confident in my choice of using it, and will not be changing my mind. I don't want this entire thread to be about one 2 minute song in a 3 hour fanedit.

I'd also like to point out that this song is overused in youtube videos, which are not giant, sprawling fanedits. It's a song that's been used in a trailer and in some silly videos on the web. I'm giving it a home, inside of a narrative, where it means something. So if you can't look past the fact that some dude made a video of himself chasing a cat around a garden with that song in the background then, well, go away.

So basically, it's staying.

I'm going to throw out a narration example today or tomorrow, probably just using that Prologue clip. I'm actually writing a script for this edit, which is kind of different, haha. Never done that before.

Some examples:

"Vader: For a thousand generations, the Galaxy was at peace. The Jedi knights, guardians of justice, protected the people of The Galactic Republic. They represented all that was good. But whenever there is light, there must also be darkness."

"Vader: Tattooine. Strange that this mission would lead me back to the one planet I have avoided for two decades. It’s where I am from. Where the Jedi found me. Where it all began."

Since I did a lot of screenwriting in college, this project is becoming a lot of fun for me. I haven't flexed those muscles in a long time.

Ok, so it's going up on the FE.org main page and .info tomorrow. There is a new thread now in the "True Fanedits" forum about it, which means it is officially released. Feel free to comment or review in there as well, if you'd like!

I've been getting some really great feedback across the board. Thanks everyone for that. My last few edits didn't get much response so I'm glad this one is catching on. I got like 3 reviews total ever for my AOTC edit.

TRON: LIBERTY *** QUICK UPDATE *** (* unfinished project *)

I think you can pick up a blu-ray drive for around $55 on amazon US. That's not really a huge endeavor, and it's worth it, you'll definitely use it.

What I would hope, is that the 5.1 surround sound track on the blu-ray is mostly just dialogue and sound effects, and the music doesn't bleed over. If that's the case, you can deleted everything but the center track and completely rescore the movie. Unless it's like the Star Wars DVD's, where the music bleeds to the center channel, then it will be a bitch.

Yeah, currently the only info about it is on the forums at FE.org and here, but the main FE.org page will post it as being released and allow for ratings and reviews. It will also be entered into the fanedit of the month contest once March ends as well. Basically, if you liked the edit, and you'd like more people to find it and check it out, reviews are the only way to do that.

I'd also like to ask all of you that have done reviews, and those of you that will, to post them on fanedit.org's main page for the movie when it gets put up this week. You might have to sign up with WordPress in order to do so, but if you can take that extra effort I'd really appreciate it. The higher the rating and the more reviews an edit has on that front page, the more it gets promoted and noticed, and the more people see it. If you can, again, that would really help me out. Also, if you don't like the edit, please don't bomb it with like a 1 or 2 star review. A lot of work went into this, so please keep that in  mind when you make your ratings.

eh, I get that, but that also isn't the point. Some of it is very recognizable, even if you can't pinpoint it. I'm trying to use what works best for each scene given my somewhat limited musical knowledge. Honestly, I really like that track. I haven't heard it used that often, and it fits. That's kind of my rationale, I guess haha. But again, this is VERY early. I might end up liking something else better and not using that song at all. Time shall tell.

MTH, you are so far the only person that noticed the backward chronology of the trailer. That was the original plan, but it's not anymore. Makes the trailer cool though!

What did everyone think of the Order 66 clip? Does the new music work? I feel like it wouldn't if the video was unchanged, but with the new style it feels like it should be different, I guess.

I found a big band, no chorus concert version of Duel of the Fates that is just rocking. Totally going to be my end duel music. Duel of the Fates is actually going to appear in various forms throughout the movie, building more and more until we get a big, bombastic version for the final battle.
