What’s on DVD?
Does anyone possibly have any recordings of the SOAPnet run of Melrose Place?
There are recordings with original music floating around but sadly they’re cut for time and the SOAPnet versions are far more likely to be uncut
The reason why is because the DVD versions like 90210 are edited and replace nearly all the music
If anyone knows where I can at least locate them please let me know
I just inspected a few episodes on HBO Max and they all seem to be uncensored except for the first two episodes and Terror Tales of the Park uses its re-arranged version rather than the original version that first aired (I actually never got why this one was done)
Interesting. This is good to note. I didn’t even know the Terror Tales of the Park was ever re-arranged (assuming you’re talking about the first one).
Thanks.
Yes I am, for some reason in the re-arranged version they put the first two segments as a single episode and then put the third as an entirely separate episode (interestingly enough put as the episode before the re-edited other two segments), ruining the ending of it, also the intro was changed to accommodate for this
I think this was done after the first airing as I remember all rebroadcasts being re-arranged
Other than the intro I don’t think any actual footage was altered or removed
Don’t know how you could acquire these since I’ve never seen VHS rips of syndication airings
Sorry dude
can you add that the 1979 version of Dracula in 1991 was given a very desaturated look that was only available in this form until 2019?
Shout! Factory’s version restores the original theatrical color timing

The “Coming Summer 1990” is not included on the full screen R1 DVD box set. It’s not in the 2002 Widescreen DVD set either. V1 or V2 (the original pressings of Part II and III had significant framing issues that were later fixed). It was restored for the first time on a video release (to my knowledge) on the 25th anniversary Blu-ray and DVD releases form 2011.
As a teenager I was a pretty die hard BTTF nerd for awhile after the first DVD set came out and I only came to know of the existence of the Summer 1990 tag from reading it on IMDB in the “alternate versions” section. I remember being impressed that it was restored for the Blu-ray. I had a whole bunch of computer printed BTTF crap hung all over my bedroom walls as a kid. I still have a book case with some of those images still taped to the side of it that I never bothered to remove, lol.
The “coming summer 1990” credit is included on the new 4K set
Also the squished credits at the end of the first movie are fixed in the 4K master
One thing I noticed though was the quality of the 1995 VHS masters was absolutely atrocious
They look incredibly faded and worse than VHS standards of the time, it was the first way I watched the movies though, they were even worse than past VHS releases of the same movies

I know it’s been years since this thread was replied on but the Prime version of the movie in the US is in fact the US theatrical version (the BD was the international cut) and its audio is mono, I spot checked and the choir is present in the opening raid scene, meaning it’s the most faithful version currently available
I’m curious to know what this is actually like
the guy to contact is on reddit, I don’t wanna publicly reveal his name
timbox2.0, check your PMs.
For the benefit of the thread, I’ll mention here that the synced audio available on MySpleen is AAC. Only the raw PCM capture is lossless. Maybe someone can re-sync the capture and release it in PCM.
can you PM me this too?
The 1983 VHS which is most likely taken from the 1977 prints has the Saul Bass logo and opens with Buck Rogers
They closed invites, I can try to download and PM it to you if you want
The LD rip is on myspleen
The first step is tracking down a user with a LD rip
Then find someone with proper editing software
I didn’t see anything which is why I made this post
From what it seems the 1993 mix is based off of a 70mm downmix with the additional sound effects added
I just mainly wanted to know what specifically was added
The 1993 remix does sound the best between the sound mixes I’ve heard, and FAR better than any of the sound mixes on the special editions
I obviously do know that the true 1977 audio mixes have never been seen on home video, with alterations between versions varying. But here’s where I get curious, from what I heard the 1993 remix added a bunch of sound effects not present in any past home video or theatrical releases.
So what I wanna know is, what exactly are the differences between the 1993 remix and the 1977 theatrical stereo mix?
this sounds really cool actually, I’d support it
Does anyone know how I can obtain this?? Please PM me, one of my favorite movies ever. Thanks!
Just buy the 2018 Sony release
I think truly the only one I need from an ABC airing is the finale
I’m sure a lot of you know why I’m making this thread. Season 1 is no longer an issue though since Mill Creek issued the uncut versions on DVD a few years ago. Mainly what I’m going into is preservation of the unaltered seasons 8 and 9 episodes. When Anchor Bay released them on DVD there were some edits made to hide music cues that were in the original broadcasts, even a couple of the tag scenes were cut from the episodes.
Mainly what I want are either original ABC recordings or even earlier syndicated recordings of the episodes. The Mill Creek re-releases actually do restore some of the original cues though not all, I can definitely confirm for myself that When You Wish Upon A Star was restored in their version. The only one I think would truly need to be from the original broadcast is Into That Good Night.
Here’s a list of exactly what was edited:
S08E01 - Shower the People You Love with Stuff:
The end tag in black & white with Lecy and Sarah spoofing the Patty Duke intro is removed.
S08E02 - Let Them Eat Junk:
The Looney Tunes theme playing on the tv towards the end is replaced with generic sound effects.
S08E05 - Halloween - the Final Chapter:
The music is replaced when Roseanne talks to Jerry Garcia and during the following dance scene.
S08E10 - Direct to Video:
The “Facts of Life” theme song is replaced when it plays early in the episode, while Dan comments “it was the Friends of the 70s”.
S08E11 - December Bride:
The Milton Berle cameo and a scene where Roseanne is singing christmas songs with a pianist are removed. (The pianist appearance is edited out of syndication as well)
S08E16 - Construction Junction:
The end tag with Tiny Tim teaching David to play the ukulele is removed.
S08E17 - We’re Going to Disney World:
“When You Wish Upon a Star” sung by David is muted out.
S08E18 - Disney World War II:
“When You Wish Upon a Star” is replaced by generic music on three occasions: It’s sung by the cast when they leave the hotel, played when they enter the park and played when Dan runs out of the park. (restored on Mill Creek sets)
S08E24 - Heart & Soul
The music during Darlene and David’s first dance is replaced.
S09E01 - Call Waiting
The “I Dream of Jeannie” theme song heard on tv is replaced.
S09E03 - What a Day for a Daydream
“Super freak” is replaced by disco music when Roseanne and Jackie are at the photo shoot.
S09E05 - Someday My Prince Will Come
The end tag in black and white where Bev sings at a nightclub is removed.
S09E07 - Satan, Darling
A few lines of the “That Girl” theme played when Roseanne is offered to drink from the cauldron is overdubbed.
S09E09 - Roseambo
The rap music when Roseanne dress up as Rambo is replaced.
S09E12 - Home for the Holidays
“Walking in a winter wonderland” is replaced with an instrumental “Silent night” towards the end of the episode.
S09E14 - Hit the Road, Jack
The few lines of “Breaking up is hard to do” heard on the radio as well as instrumental when Dan leaves are both replaced. The end tag with the hermit crab video is removed.
S09E19 - The Miracle
The song towards the end is replaced.
If anyone can provide me with recordings of these episodes with the original cues intact please let me know
S09E23/24 - Into That Good Night
Split into two parts instead of the hour long version as aired on ABC. Not sure if anything is cut but it would be nice to have the original.
I’ll give 20
