Every single stormtrooper says “Traitor” to Finn. The guy who gets shot at the door says it just before he dies, the guy getting stabbed from behind says it as he falls and all of the troopers attacking Finn while he escapes in the TIE Fighter keep saying it repeatedly.

This. If I do a fanedit, I’m definitely cutting the opening action sequence, I could not for the life of me tell what the hell was going on on screen, it was almost as bad as Taken 3 IMO.
The huge text was way too overdone, many movies have text showing the location once or twice in the first few minutes of the movie but it happened after every single scene transition an made no difference at all. The fact that the characters are in a different story doesn’t actually make a difference, it should just cut directly to our other characters with a transitional musical cue and leave it at that. Helicopter shots and huge text are a thing of the past.
I think some sort of narrated comicbook/storybook animated art would be cool. Sort of like moving storyboards or something. Maybe use an audiobook as the main source and have voice actors portray the characters. Is there any way I can help? I’d be glad to.
I don’t see how Dooku and Hayden spinning coloured glowsticks above their heads in extreme closeup, CGI Yoda bouncing around like a constipated frog, CGI Palpatine leaping off the walls, or Obi-Wan and Hayden twirling their lightsabers around like synchronized baton twirlers could ever be considered visually stimulating, let alone appealing.

Someone was going to be working on isolating score from the films. Was that you, Smithers? This scene would be a good first one to do, since it’d be good to keep the foley even if the music gets changed.
Yeah it’s in the works. TFA has much more music in the centre track than the PT does. It’s a bit of a challenge but I’ll figure it out.
This sounds pretty cool! You can find some pretty cool SW soundtracks in video games. Check out the Shadows of the Empire OST, Star Wars: Battlefront OST, and radio drama music from the original Story of Star Wars LPs.
And they whipped them out for every little thing. In the OT, when a lightsaber was drawn, the room got quiet. In the PT, it was every other scene. I get that it was a different time period, but I don’t care for that excuse. If Lucas had simply limited the amount of time you saw a lightsaber in the PT, he wouldn’t even have to write a spectacular scene for those moments. You would immediately feel excitement from the sight of the lightsaber. If Obi-Wan had never used his lightsaber until the fight with Darth Maul in Episode I, the scene would have been infinitely more impactful with the exact same shots.
This is very true, the lightsaber is a tool to convey the drama in a scene. It is less of a visual distraction than it is a way to make an emotional scene more interesting. It shows a characters anger or fear when they draw it.
Looks pretty good! The Awakening does something similar but rather cuts from Rey seeing the TIE Fighters to Finn looking up and right after we get the shot of the TIE Fighters approaching in front of the sunset. It plays pretty well and requires no special effects.

Took too long to get started but wasn’t completely terrible until the half-way point. Terrible CGI is basically unforgivable in the movie and a lot of stuff makes no sense. I don’t even know why I watched it.
You are being far too generous with your 4/10.
I may be a tad too generous but IMO the movie was mostly entertaining until they got their powers. From there it fell apart and continued to get worse until it was almost unbearable.

Yeah I disputed a video and it’s still down. Sony is pretty brutal when it comes to this stuff and abuses the system, needless to say I use vimeo now.
Over-choreographed? How is that possible? I actually prefer the lightsaber duels in the prequels to the lightsaber duels in the original trilogy. At least in the prequels the characters actually look like trained warriors and not like little boys playing with toy swords. The only lightsaber duel in the original trilogy that even had any real choreography was the duel on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back.
I find it extremely irritating when characters constantly pause in the middle of sword fights in order to speak. When characters focus more on speaking than on actually fighting, the duel becomes unrealistic. Anyone in a life-or-death duel who focuses more on speaking than on fighting frankly deserves to die.
Why are you even on this site? I’m not even going to argue this with you just look up “Plinkett” on youtube and all the things you like about the PT will be ripped to shreds.

I liked the movie, I just think it was just overhyped. I’ll definitely buy it when it comes out and I’ll probably enjoy it more the next few times around but I was just saying that all of the youtubers giving it an A+ was a little overboard.

Captain America: Civil War
Grossly overrated, very much like the winter soldier but not as awesome as everyone says it is. The main problem was that it took forever to get going and the best scenes were spoiled by the trailers. My hopes were too high, 7/10

The difference between McGregor playing Obi-Wan and this is that he was playing Obi-Wan at a totally different age from when Alec Guiness played him. So it wasn’t really the same role at all. Even still, he was a perfect fit in that his appearance, voice, and mannerisms were all uncannily similar to Guiness. On the other hand, we’ve seen Han at a younger age, not much older than the age this new guy will be playing him.
