The Blackened Mantle (3-in-1 Prequel Trilogy Fan Edit) is finally back on YouTube!

So I’ve done some digging on the internet, and a found a copy of this edit that is better quality than the one available from the description in the youtube video linked in the OP. It’s still highly compressed, but it doesn’t have the weird framerate issues of that version and it’s a bit higher resolution. PM me if you’d like a link.

Thank god! PM Sent.

The Blackened Mantle is one of the best edits out there. The dialogue is so well written and it keeps you interested the entire way through. My only gripe is that the flashbacks just feel like I’m watching three different movies instead of one, it doesn’t work narratively at all. Anyway, check it out guys! It’s definitely worth the watch!

The Bourne Supremacy: 8.5/10

This movie really keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Any other movie that attempts at recreating this same style normally turns out to be extremely boring. Overall a very well done film with a great soundtrack by John Powell and some of the most suspenseful scenes ever filmed. My only complaint is that it is lacking a climax, IMO the movie didn’t feel like it ever actually ended.

The Last Crusade: 8/10

Not much to say about this one, I love Indy and the third installment in the franchise has the most heart.

Return of the Jedi: 7.5/10

The movie really is a mixed bag, I love the Tatooine scenes and the Death Star scenes but other than that it’s pretty lame. The ewoks, the lack of violence, the boring dialogue/exposition scenes and some pretty bad sets and special effects really drag it down. Most of this is redeemed by some great moments but there is some stuff that increasingly becomes harder to look past. I think TFA is actually better than iton my ranks now.

7.5 out of ten equals mostly pretty lame?

Well it isn’t mostly lame but there are moments. Nostalgia also plays into this heavily. I really like the movie and would reccomend it to anyone but when critiquing it I can’t see past the issues.

Empire Strikes Back: 9/10

I enjoy this movie more and more everytime I watch it, it’s nearly a perfect film.

Or after Finn says that his friend was taken prisoner, you could just cut to Leia saying, “And I’ll do everything I can to help, but first you need to tell us all you know.” Yeah you lose a few lines but it’s worth it in order to bypass that jarring cut. And the lines lost are not really necessary, the scene still works either way. But I would only try this if the first one me and Smithers thought about still feels noticeably jarring.

This is what I had in mind, it would be way more seamless.

Smithers' Prequel Fanedits (a Work In Progress)
Time

Here’s a few (very rough) clips showcasing the dubbing for Maul and the Neimodians. A few scenes have little to no sound effects and some have out of sync dialogue that may be too loud or too quiet.

Note that in the first and thirds clips Darth Maul is now the hologram rather than Sidious. I will color correct his hands to be dark blue to match his gloves but these clips are very rough. Let me know what you think: https://vimeo.com/165953515

Sorry for not uploading sooner! I completely forgot 😕

This. If I do a fanedit, I’m definitely cutting the opening action sequence, I could not for the life of me tell what the hell was going on on screen, it was almost as bad as Taken 3 IMO.

Um, you’d cut out the inciting incident that sets off the rest of the movie?

Well the whole conversation would come up when the lady scolds Tony Stark for “killing” her son and then it would be followed by the meeting scene with the footage from previous movies. It would mainly come up from Tony Stark conceiving the idea of “being put in check” himself and following through with it before giving the other Avengers a choice.

Help: looking for... Special Editions minus controversial/stupid changes?
Time

ANH Revisited is really cool but I prefer his “Purist Edition” which removes his larger changes but so far I haven’t been able to find the perfect version of ANH to suit my preferences. I’ll probably eventually make my own to remove all of the CGI crap on Mos Eisley but keep a few minor “fixes”.

ESB IMO is perfect theatrically. Harmy’s DE 2.0 is fine for now and I don’t think I’ll download another version of it until there’s a clean film remaster/scan or a 4K release.

ROTJ is also fine theatrically, although I do want to see your edit, DarthRush. Some of the special effects don’t hold up but my issues with it are really the script and not the visuals.
