Ranking the Alien films
Time

You really like you “Ranking __” threads eh? Lol here’s my list:

  1. Alien: 8/10

What an intense and scary film, one of my favourite horror movies to date. It contains some of the best special effects ever to grace film history, (nearly) everything still holds up perfectly.

  1. Aliens: 7.5/10

A fun action movie, borrows heavily from the first film but it’s still highly enjoyable.

  1. Prometheus: 7/10

A modern copy of the original film. It’s done well and everything but in the end it’s another Star Trek: Into Darkness for me. Check out Agent9’s fanedit, it turns it into a much better film!

  1. Alien Resurrection: 6/10

Weird, cliché’d and unneeded. I still enjoy it for the most part but a lot of it is hard to get past.

  1. Alien 3: 5/10

Eh, what a mess. I feel bad for everyone involved in the production of this movie, if you watch the bonus features you can tell they were disappointed in the final product. What a shame.

I’m just going to pretend that neither of the AvP movies even exist, they suck. It’s impossible for me to even stomach them.

Lucas would never have collaborated like JJ did. So no Kasden. He couldn’t have gotten the performance out of Harrison Ford that JJ did.

What performance? Harrison was rather at his average in TFA. Even in ROTJ, when he obviously didn’t want to try too hard, he seems amazing compared to TFA.

You obviously haven’t seen any of Harrison Ford’s recent movies…

You can hear what I assume is Ahsoka in the background of his second line. I might just go with another voice clip for that, but if you can find a way to mask or get rid of her voice, go for it. The voice lines could probably use some sort of ‘robot’ filter to make it sound more like it’s coming from Grievous. And Grievous’ grunts and laughs should probably be dubbed over. But other than that, I do think those voice lines fit very well.

Yes yes and yes. I’ll remove the background sounds and everything but I’m going to tweak the dialogue anyway.

EDIT: Almost all of those lines are scrapped or repurposed, I may upload a clip in the future but don’t expect me to anytime soon.

The first “Star Wars” and “Darth Vader” comics are really stupid, I stopped reading at around issues #8-10. They keep throwing back to the PT and making a bunch of stupid decisions and really derailed the story. Rather than making an adventure set between ANH and ESB, they’ve gone in and just filled it with PT retcons and strange EU-based crap. Ugh

Like Luke getting into a lightsaber duel prior to TESB, or something more idiotic?

Like that, here’s just a few:
-Darth Vader having his own protocol droid and Astromech Droid
-Han Solo’s ex-girlfriend showing up to help in her “unmodified” model of the millenium falcon.
-Darth Vader going to Geonosis to destroy the rest of the droid factory
-A group of people who use the force and yellow lightsabers but are neither on the side of the rebellion/jedi or the empire. They just talk shit to Darth Vader before getting their asses killed, went nowhere.
-Someone (from the Empire era) is a huge fan of PT-era technology and makes hybrid droids as well as this abomination
-Luke is actually on the run from Boba Fett for a long time before his introduction in ESB, he just never decided to bring him up as a heads up to Han and Leia
-Leia remembers her mom because holograms of Padme were shown to her as a little girl, this doesn’t even solve the issue that Leia remembers her being “very kind but sad” and it also HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DARTH VADER! I don’t know why this is in the vader comics!

Another thing is the planets they visit are very uninteresting. They either spend most of their time in buildings/bunkers/ships or on PT-era planets like this

Ranking the Batman films
Time

I don’t think I’ve even ranked them before so here we go, this is actually really hard to do perfectly so I’m going to split this into two categories:

“Modernized Batman”

  1. The Dark Knight (9/10)
  2. Batman Begins (8/10)
  3. Batman V. Superman (7.5-10)
  4. The Dark Knight Rises (7.5/10)
  5. Batman '89 (7/10)

“Old-school Batman”

  1. Batman The Movie (8/10 just because of how ridiculously enteratining it is)
  2. Batman Returns (7.5/10)
  3. Batman Forever (6.5/10)
  4. Batman & Robin (1/10)

Funny story: Batman & Robin was my introduction to Batman as a kid. I was flipping through the TV channels and came across the movie at the scene where Batman and Robin are in that weird club and Batman pulls out the “Bat-Card”. Needless to say I didn’t watch it for that long because my dad couldn’t take how bad it was but it is weird that it’s the first time I was introduced to the character.

Star Wars Canon EU (potential spoilers)

I read the first three “Obi-Wan and Anakin” set between TPM and AOTC and I’m actually shocked at how much of a relationship it builds between the two. I really enjoy all of the flashbacks with Anakin’s training and how he reacts to other padawan being jerks. I may continue reading this one.
