I think it was a mixed bag. Cumberbatch’s performance as Kahn was good but once again is undermined by the original. The protagonist’s sacrifice was well done but was way too close to the original. Some moments were really dumb too, like when the blonde chick suddenly strips down and we see her in her underwear for no reason at all, that doesn’t seem like Star Trek to me. I really like the action sequences though, namely the space jump scene. Overall I think it’s ok and someone’s currently working on a fanedit based on my suggestion to remove all of the Kahn related elements and references so I think that’ll be an improvement.

I actually do have a few updates, but I’ve been taking a short hiatus from the project, just to regain some of my sanity. I won’t mention anything until I have clips available to back it up, but you’ll be able to see some progress within the next week. Honestly, it’s essentially finished, minus one major change I’m implementing and a few smaller tweaks.

That’s fine, I as well am taking a minor break to ease my frustration with final audio editing. Glad to know it’s still coming!

I was actually planning to possibly invite a few of you to a rough screening (probably through a private Vimeo link or something) just to get some feedback and get a new set of eyes on the cut to catch any mistakes or weird jumps I may have overlooked.

That would be really cool! I’d be down

Star Trek: Beyond 8/10

Really surprised by this one. Justin Lin actually directed some pretty great character moments and a lot of spectacular action. The trailers looked really bad and it looked like it was going to go in the same stylistic direction as the Fast and Furious franchise did but thankfully it did not, it actually was way more respectful of the original Star Trek series than Into Darkness was. The music was very reminiscent of the original show and the tribute to the original cast was great. Overall I really liked it but I think it peaked in the second act and then in the third it became quite formulaic and predictable. Still a lot of fun and a worthy sequel to the first one from 2009. I’d also like to point out that at no point does this film mention any events from Into Darkness so if you want to just ignore that one then you can because this one feels much more like a sequel to the first one. Check it out!

Anyway… 😉

i’ve found a nice little detail. First i thought the death star in this poster is a cgi, but it isnt. I have a little kids book, the “24 page read along, Star Wars, A new Hope from the year 1979”. And in this book there is a picture. And on this picture you can see the death star on the Rogue One poster!
