It would have the old title, would it not? None of this "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" stuff. Is this enough of a difference to justify it as a preservation project?
And I got to say I'm digging the Oakland Raiders ad on this page. Go Raiders!
I don't know how a medal on Chewie would work. Since he only stays in the back, there is no chance for Leia to give him one. Unless he had one before this, but why would he get one before Han and Luke? And I certainly wouldn't want to try to animate a medal on Chewie while he was walking.
One of the things I would like to see with such a project (aside from its own thread) is a detailed commentary track explaining why perhaps why you went with certain creative decisions and maybe a special feature with side by side Episode 3 shots and any any corrosponding 40's and 50's noir/serial feature shots. Mostly, I just would like to see this often influence on the Star Wars movies paid its due instead of largly ignored. Maybe that's just me. Or maybe this is too much. Eep.
CC: The films already open with sequential Star Destroyer scenes. Opening with 2 DS shots doesn't seem like a big deal. Besides, It could create a bit more urgency for the Rebellion. I have always thought the DS was way underplayed in ROTJ. The idea in the Novel of the DS destroying Endor pretty cool. I guess I'm one of those who see the parallelism between the films as poetic rather than pointless.
I like Guy's idea of the DS protecting the capitol.
this is turning into the Starkiller Ranch. And I'm dang sure the Death Star battle was originally part of George's original plan. The line gets blurred because Fox executives were pushing George to drop the battle as the film was already overbudget without it.
Anyways...
I am looking forward to this edit. I have always wanted an edit based on the book or shooting script. This edit looks to be the closest so far (excepting Deleted Magic of course). One of the scenes I've always been curious about is a small fragment from the published draft of the script.
INT. SANDCRAWLER - HOLD AREA
It is dim inside the hold area of the Sandcrawler. Artoo switches on a small floodlight on his forehead and stumbles around the scrap heap. The narrow beam swings across rusty metal rocket parts and an array of grotesquely twisted and maimed astro-robots. He lets out a pathetic electronic whimper and stumbles off toward what appears to be a door at the end of the chamber.
INT. SANDCRAWLER - PRISON AREA
Artoo enters a wide room with a four-foot ceiling. In the middle of the scrap heap sit a dozen or so robots of various shapes and sizes. Some are engaged in electronic conversation, while others simply mill about. A voice of recognition calls out from the gloom.
THREEPIO Artoo-Detoo! It's you! It's you!
A battered Threepio scrambles up to Artoo and embraces him.
The script has 2 rooms in the sandcrawler, but the final edit has one. It would be interested to see if this footage could be seperated. I tried to get Garrett to look into this shot for Deleted Magic, but it never happened.
It looks like Peter Cushing was exhumed for the SW cover. I think these are slightly better than the 04 covers, which just make me nausiated. These only get me confused and a little queasy.
Was there new art for the '05 set? I never bothered to find out.
I figure they might add some new covers since these have some kind of insignificant bonus disc that some fans might be interested in. Besides, they need to give the completists something to live for. And really, new covers can only be a good thing. Like they could get any worse.
