Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Agreed with Preston.

And regarding the whole actor thing in this edit, the original had actual professional actors like Hayden and Portman and we know how that turned out. I'm not worried that TM isn't a classically trained Shakespearian thespian. My only expectations for this edit are:

1. It needs better performances than the original,
2. It needs to be fun.

And all of the clips I have seen have greatly filled my expectations. ROCK ON!!!!

Idea: The 1976 crawl
Time

One of my pet projects has been to put together a rendered version of the 1976 rough cut crawl. The text comes from the revised 4th draft and Marvel’s Star Wars #1. It was fully filmed and attached to the film when Lucas showed a rough cut to some of his friends as well as Fox execs and Marvel Comics artist Roy Thomas. John Williams score still was in production, so this would not have had the famous music attached to it, although I don’t know if there was a temporary bit of music (like Holst) attached to it or not.

Anyway, here’s my files if anyone wants to take a crack at it. Click here. I’m 90 percent comfortable with the design of the Star Wars logo and 99 percent comfortable with the placement of the text. I had some pals offer to to render the thing, but we get busy on this site, so… I’m tossing it out to anyone who wants to take a crack at it.

Info & Help Wanted: [<( The Star Wars Trailers Project )>]
Time
A quick update:

I did a test burn on the trailers I have so far and things look pretty good. Ive designed most of the menus as well, so that a step in the right direction.

I do have a request or two.

First, is there anyone that can PiF me a set of the Cowclops v2 FULLSCREEN transfer trilogy?

Second, is there a quick and dirty guide to converting some of the 4:3 trailers to 16:9? I've read most of the guides in the General Preservation thread, I'm not sure what would work best.

Lastly, based on a great suggestion from GhostAlpha, I'm considering a Sluggo's Build Your Own Trailer contest with a cool prize for the winner as well as inclusion on the disc. This is a great idea, considering that there really ought to be a super-trailer (not unlike that huge LOTR one) for the trilogy or the saga.

Thoughts?

Help Wanted: with my Episode II Edit's Opening Crawl....
Time
This looks like an interesting take on the Episode 2 story.

The second crawl works best for me. The only item I have issue with is the commission of the clone army by the senate and the debate in the same senate over the same army. To me, it would make more sense to have Palpy outright order the creation of the army and leave the bickering to the senate. Unless you have bigger plans.

Where do I go from here as a SW fan?

Where do you go?

Wherever your feet take you.

Seriously... I love the O-OT but it's not my life. If I want more Star Wars, there's the video games, maybe the novels and comics. There's a lot of pre-SE material in that venue available.

Personally, I'd start searching out other things to love. If a path seems to be drawing to a close, it's time to walk a new path.

Dude, I am not saying I wanna commit suicide or even equating it to the problems in the world we face everyday, it is just a set of movies. I am saying this in the context of enjoying the movies, and that is it. This is a SW page, so even though it sounds real serious in the context of SW talk, it is pretty trivial in our everyday lives.

The fact is I love the OOT more then any other set of movies, and I will even go as far to say that SW is my favorite movie of all-time, so falling in love is something you can't do, it is something that just happens.

I just feel it is a real bummer that the set of movies that I grew up with and still love today are not the versions I love anymore. There will be a saga boxset next year to commerorate 30 years of SW, and there is a big chance that they will only contain SE/PT versions. It is just sad there is a split of fanbase of such a beloved set of movies, and one of those fanbases is truly second class now.

I feel the same way. It is lousy that George and Rick tend to view us as ignorant, blind, whiny, or just not tech-savvy for our complaints on their treatment of the GOUT. Sure we can be stubborn and loud, but that doesn't invalidate our opinions.

It looks like these covers are cobbled together from other pages on Grisan's site.

Go there, open the folders

Special Edition>unknown>set one

This has the backs. The fronts are on the site there as well.

And honestly, I don't like these. Bleh.
