SW fonts
Time
I've been digging through the dozens and dozens of fonts I have, trying to figure out what is what and what works. So I read and re-read this thread and realized there has got to be a better way.

So here's my proposal: What we need is a font thread that is 1. pinned to the top for easy use, 2. contains links to freeware fonts where available and 3. we need actual examples of these fonts in action. It is one thing to read ITC Franklin or Universis Ultrathingamabob, but what good does that do ya? Not much.

I'm thinking something along the lines of these crude examples:

Basically the actual fonts with their real names in context of where they work in the realm of fan edits and preservation. I'd start the thing if there proves interest. Thoughts?

I can't remember if you've mentioned this before, but will you be doing anything about Walrusman's severed arm? Removing the blood and/or making his hand match the longshots?

yeh i'm going to replace the hand with the correct one and i have removed the blood and put a small heat glow on the wound. I've just got to build a new hand so i can add it into the shot first

Have you talked to 2-1B? He's got some experience in that sort of thing.

Actually, the rough cut version might be useful to you as it has the shot with the correct hand. Deleted Magic has the shot in a usable size.

Sluggo's Star Wars Trailer Contest *Next contest begins April 25th*

I'd prefer serious trailers, but if it is non-traditional, bring it on. I'm toying with the idea of a DL version as well with a bunch of non-traditional trailers on it as well as the plethora of spoof trailers that are out there as well. So, yeah. Go for it.

Yes, you read that right.

Thanks to the brilliant idea of GhostAlpha26 and the encouragement of Infodroid, I'm hosting a build your own Star Wars trailer contest.

The gist of it is I want a few awesome Star Wars trailers to put on my upcoming trailers DVD. And since I still have the stack of prizes from the generally forgotten last photoshop contest.

The Contest:
-You create one Star Wars trailer and submit it to me through an upload site such as yousendit or rapidshare. The team of judges will select the winners from the submitted enteries. Winning enteries will be judged on creativity, use of musical score, excitement instilled, etc. The winning enteries will be featured on the trailers DVD.

The Rules:
-The trailer should be under three minutes. Anything longer runs the risk of being boring, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
-The submissions are prefered in 16x9 anamorphic and at least 2.0 sound.
-As I'm keeping the Trailers DVD "non-demoninational", meaning it will have something for the die-hard OT fans as well as those that like the prequels, contest submissions are encouraged to be for the OT, the PT or the saga as a whole.
-Submissions will be accepted until the end of January.

Other notes:
Prizes are negotible. I would also hope to feature the best of the OT and PT trailers on the trailers project disc, even if these aren't necessarily the prize-winning enteries. Contestants may enter multiple enteries, but will only be judged for what is seen as their best entry. This means that no one can snag any more than one prize. Please submit enteries or any further questions to my hotmail addy that is listed in my profile.

Does anyone happen to have a high quality version of this 70's rating card:

I would love to start out the movie with this because it would set up the whole mood before the movie even started. I read the "70's widescreen bootleg" thread, and apparently this ratings card was on the original theatrical release, so it'd be a neat, authentic thing to include in SOTDS.

Thanks so much!

TM

PS: Since this project is postponed for a couple months, I might as well tell you this: There’s a possibility (*wink*) that the droid analysis sequence might be in the process of being recomposited right now….

The end of the current DVD release of JAWS has this card at the end of the film after the credits. The quality isn't 100%, but it has that old film look.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my peeps in the States.

my memory isn't that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)

This reminds me, someone with more knowledge on the subject than me ought to start a thread on the General SW page documenting all the TV broadcasts and extra information on the broadcasts, such as air dates and bumpers, etc. It could be a valuable resource to see when all these old tapes we might have lying around actually aired.
