The only problem is that now, it would be preferable to integrate that theme into the underscore. The title theme wasn't used only for the titles, but throughout the trilogy in the score. If you want to leave it as just the title theme, it still is lovely, but in Star Wars, it would be great to have worked in, perhaps as a Republic theme (there was the Republic fanfare in ROTS, but it wasn't in the previous two films).

It seems to me that this new theme is similiar in style to the JW theme that you should really only have to drop parts of the Korngold music in key parts of SOTDS and you got it.

Nope, never saw any trailers for Empire until the DVD set was released. As for the evidence, I know there isn't any on the net that I could see. That must have been some pretty powerful LSD topping on the popcorn for me to have seen these cuts twice eh?
Could it be that the Paramount in Edmonton got a preview test copy? It's not like Edmonton is some backwater city. Why would it be impossible?
I provided the location, dates and exact times. Maybe the SW higher ups can find something out about this in the future.

rancher,
no disrespect, but this sounds like you have seen these scenes in a trailer in the theater and somewhere along the way your memories had these scenes in the movie itself. the problem with the scattered claims of seeing the cut scenes in the theaters is there is no evidence of the scenes ever playing. no bootleg footage, no audio recordings, no confirmations from official sources, no soundtrack releases with extra music that can not be matched to the existing film, nada. it is regrettable, but there is no hard evidence for these scenes to have been seen in the theater.

I'm not saying impossible, just highly improbable. If any official word came out of LFL (one way or the other) then I'll change my opinion.

Originally posted by: TroopermanMy second point is that this is by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose music was the inspiration for John Williams AND George Lucas as well. This is a little known fact, but George Lucas bought an album called "The Sea Hawk", a recording of Korngold's film music by Charles Gerhardt, and it was this that inspired him to request the same type of score from J. Williams- he even mentioned "The Sea Hawk" in the conversation.
...
And finally, it's very possible that this was actually the main title theme used in the original TEMP TRACK for Star Wars- notice the similarity to the original Star Wars theme.

A snipet from Trooperman's SOTDS thread. This seems very relevant here.

OCP did get better quality captures of the cut scenes just after he released Deleted Magic. I wouldn't be able to campare the DVD-ROM files of DM and ROTE until I got home tonight.

This is a great idea-- I didn't know these elements existed. I wish I could be the guy to do it, but it's just too big for me. I'll see if I can dig someone up.
This would be the perfect way to open a "rough-cut" fan edit --which is another great idea.

A silent version with title cards would be great.
Now, if you found somebody to do a ragtime piano interpretation of the John Williams music to accompany the film, that would be sheer perfection.

That would be hilarious! At least it would be for a few minutes. It'd make a great trailer.

Actually, I had a good place for them, but I can't find it anymore. Let me look around a bit...
