If I remember right, that early crawl on the editdroid set was a prototype and was done before any decent photographs were available of the actual crawl.

So who's left of the 7? Glenn is still around. Is Carpenter? I know Grissom went first. Slayton died when I was a kid and Shepherd made the final launch a few years ago.

On a slightly related side-note, I'm thinking about pulling of the episodes off of the DVR and burning a small collection until the real thing is released. Has anyone stumbled across any cover art for this type of project?

Hmmm...

I'm certainly not nostalgic to the films in anyway, but looking back I miss the build up. My pal Brad and I would talk for hours at work about what secrets were in the new episode. I still have the Darth Maul cup topper out on my shelf. Too bad the movies didn't live up to the hype.

Thanks, JD! I might revisit the text and the logo this weekend. One or the things that was throwing me about the logo is that it looks like it was designed to be 'pre-slanted'. It is just weird looking.

I wish I would have had that shot a few years ago when I started it. I had to make the text off of the Richard Edlund pic. Serious headache.

EDIT: OK, here ya go. I think a lot of folks agreed it was a good idea in theory, but it never got put together. Maybe we didn't have the right thing to attach it on. Anyhoo... If the files need re-posting, I can do that tonight. JD, could you post that new pic so I can see if I need to do any more work on the logo or text?

I think the new one had better rendering, although I liked the movements into frame from the first clip. And maybe it is just me, but the X-wing's models wings seem a bit stubby.

The mess started when I started the chain with a bad dvd burner. I'm still beating myself up for that. And the original copy I had of disc 2 was also corrupt, but the editdroid team replaced it for me and I was able to send the fixed version out. But things should be pretty smooth now.

Done and done. It is good for a week. It was available on that other fan edit site, but that file appears to be corrupt there also.

Done. It looked and sounded great. It is not Star Wars the way it was, but the way I want to remember it. The sound was the best part. The additions, such as the PA system aboard the blockade runner sounded natural.

On a side note, weren't you going to change the tractor beam shot so the rebel ship didn't looked so locked down?

This is the Holiday Special we are talking about. I think the smell might be coming from a different kind of release.

I'd prefer the term 'Big Galaxy' of all of those. I've never liked the oxymoronic term 'Expanded Universe'. I didn't mind the Lando Calrissian books either even though they were written after Empire. They took place before the Han Solo trilogy. There isn't much Star Wars in there at all, aside from a main character named Lando Calrissian and his ship the Millenium Falcon. Everything else in there is standard sci-fi stuff.

Don't forget about Han Solo's quote out of Star's End where he mentions that he prefers to shoot first.
