In the original 70mm cut of the film, the ending sequence was different in two ways: There were less effects shots but there was more dialog. Because of this, Williams wrote what you heard on Disc 3 which has an extended section near the end before the final grand statement of Han and Leia's theme and then into the end credits.

So do you mean that the track on disc 3 was the 70mm one or is it the exended one (for the 35mm version)? And is there a track representing the 70mm version?

Incidentally, I've made some mix discs of The Best of SW (one for the prequels and one for the OT) and on the latter, I've cobbled together a decent theme for Lando and for The Emperor from a couple of the score tracks.

"Lando Calrissian" was taken from Lando's Palace and Betrayal at Bespin.
"The Emperor's Theme" was taken from "The Emperor Arrives" and "The Emperor's Throne Room."

Now if there were only a concert suite theme for the Droids.

These are something I'd be interested in hearing..

There is still some, well, I wouldn't call it evidence but maybe signs that the OOT will get remastered eventually. The new making of star wars and the forthcoming making of empire and jedi books are one. Lucas' good friend Spielberg releasing an ultimate dvd of close encounters is another.

I'm starting to feel the same way, Fang Zei.

Are there going to be 'making of' books for ESB and Jedi?

They are going to be the Alan Arnold and Philip Peecher books, but greatly expanded and with more pics. IIRC.
And hopefully no revisionist changes...

Don't get me wrong, there ought to be a place for all kinds of fans, I just don't want to be in those kind of places. And currently, it is infesting the official site and the Insider. I had such high hopes for Hyperspace when they first started. New Biggs pictures. An exclusive video of an Episode 2 cut scene workprint. It was awesome.

Now all you get is exclusive crap you can buy and more EU crap. And thank hell Celebration IV is over. If I read another interview with a cartoonist or video game tester, I'm gonna hurl.

Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)

I have two jpegs that I downloaded at some point _long_ ago that are designed as inserts for the Holiday Special.

And both of them claim that the disc has a "text commentary" among other bonuses:

* interactive menus
* behind the scenes photo gallery [only one claims this]
* production art gallery
* text commentary
* vintage Kenner toy commercial
* DVD-ROM content

So my assumption is that someone, somewhere, for some reason produced such a thing.

Which leaves me with only one question:

Does anyone know where to find this text commentary?
Ah, well... the real story here is that the most common DVD cover was done up between Sluggo and myself, basically as sort of a "wish list" of what we'd like to see on the DVD. It was never really intended to reach as far as it did. However, it became the most common cover out there, and started showing up on all the eBay auctions for bootleg HS DVDs. I guess it's kind of flattering in a weird way, particularly for Sluggo, who did most of the graphic work.

I don't think such a thing was ever actually produced, unfortunately. We talked about a text commentary as something that would be very cool to do someday.

Yeah, it is a little weird. Not quite as weird as seeing the reconstructed cut scenes I and my friend Brad did years ago (which are hosted on T-bone's Star Wars site) for sale on a compilation DVD on ebay or at a con. Rather surreal.
