Does anyone care about the 'extended universe'?

The Brian Daley Han Solo trilogy, the Lando trilogy, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, and the old Marvel comics are all the EU I require. ;)

This is me as well.  The best part about the Solo and the Calrissian trilogies is they barely deal with the Empire, the Jedi or the Skywalker family.  I find it refreshing while not introducing extra complications to the force.  Like midichlorians or them lizards that make bubbles in the force.  Dumb.

What was the "fatal flaw" of the Prequels if you think they sucked? (aka. Let's take a break from hating on the blu-rays)

The devil's in the details. For example, there was a poetry with Luke cutting off Vader's hand in ROTJ, seeing it was mechanical, and it dawning on him that he was in danger of turning into the same as he contemplated his own mechanical hand. In the PT, Vader got his hand and legs cut off, and left to burn and die a painful slow death by Kenobi. It just crapped on that ROTJ moment, and showed Kenobi to be a sadistic hat to boot.

...

I would add to this that while Anakin still needed to have fallen into the volcano (that's right..VOLCANO, not some lava river), Ben needn't have cut his arms and legs off.  They could have lost in the volcano.

Mostly, I would have liked to see Ben think Anakin has died, only to discover later the new leader of the Imperial forces, Darth Vader, was actually Anakin.  When Ben was talking to Luke, he knew Darth Vader was a pupil of his who turned to the dark side of the force.  In Episode III, the connection that Ben knows about Vader isn't really there.

The official Star Wars site got a redesign (...tons of shit is Possibly gone...) but they have a section for Fan Sites, this place didn't make it.

http://www.starwars.com/connect/fan-sites/

And yet the Holiday Special site is listed!

I mean at least the secrethistoryofstarwars.com or www.tk409.com would be good additions. I wonder if it's possible to petition to be added...

Wahooo!!  I'm famous!

Secret History would be great to get on there, but AIN'T gonna happen.   All of the sites listed tow the company line.

That might be a different take of Han Solo, but that's the same take of Fett. If you look closely, you can see that the blu-ray Fett looks pasted into the frame; that's because it looks like they used the same take of Fett (cut and pasted against a new background), just repositioned and "squeezed" horizontally (look at how his helmet is flattened side-to-side) to give the illusion of a different angle.
I disagree:

There are way too many differences in angle, shadow, and detail to be a manipulation, in my opinion.

Cool.  Alternate take.

I bet they needed this alternate angle so they could put more CGI prequel characters in the background.

If GL changed his mind about releasing OUT, but with a few tweaks.....

If he tweaked the OUT, it wouldn't be the Original Unaltered Trilogy.

The NOUT (nearly)? The AOUT (almost)? The POUT (practically)?

You have a good point but I think people are right that the vast majority of us would find it acceptable even if less than ideal.

I wonder how you would all feel if he 'fixed' inconsistencies (like replacing Ponda's arm).

The POUT!  I lol'd.

What the hell is happening here???

Not sure, but I'm thinking up several captions to go with that pic. :P

I am thinking that this has something to do with "Droids". I believe there's an "Easter Egg" containing some of that cartoon series as well as some of the Holiday Special (thus the horrible artwork of Fett on the dragon).

Seriously, who the F did this artwork? Why not just include children's crayon drawings.

I actually really like this bit of art.  It is very much like the old 1960's sci fi art that I used to read when I was a kid.

Stuff like this:

EXACTLY. Thanks!

Notice how Vader's saber is pink and Luke's has an off-color core, with the background being pretty blue...

Maybe the 2004/11 colars are the colars they were supposed to be all along!!!!!

Fixed!
