I really like how quickly it moves, but it may move a little too quickly. I think it worked without the scene of the droids being fitted with restraining bolts down in the dungeon.
I like having the idea of Chewie and Leia show up right on the heels of the droids, but it seemed a little forced to have Jabba trust 3PO to translate when he just got there himself. Maybe if you had a subtitle of Jabba saying something like "Protocol droid! Get up here and translate!" or something like that. 3PO replies with "Yes, I am here..." and the scene goes on.
You may want to think about restoring some of the reaction shots of when Leia reveals the thermal detonator. It doesn't seem to have the drama with out it.
The scenes from when the droids arrive to when Leia and Chewie arrive are very smoothly edited and flow nicely.

The crawl recedes into the distance.
The camera pans down (facing away from the surface of the planet) to a ring of giant blockade ships orbiting the planet. Without warning, the distant giant ships begin to shoot a battery of laser-fire directly at the camera. Suddenly, a chrome spaceship flies directly overhead of the camera, manuvering wildly as it races towards the blockade.

Agreed. Do it in a way that doesn't interfere with the game, but do it. With the sophistication of the modern viewer, sports are going to look more and more that they have something to hide if there wasn't instant replay. I am trying to give FIFA the benefit of the doubt, but they seem to fix their games. And by not being open to any review policies seems to cement this idea.

The design of the DS had changed in production. The matte painting above was scrapped, but it did find its way into the Star Wars Storybook.
By the time the design was changed, the matte paintings and models could be remade, but the DS plans schematics created by John Wash and other ILM'ers either were forgotten about or Lucas just decided not to worry about it.
