Making the Obi-Wan & Anakin training session (From the Kenobi series) work in an AOTC edit.

Yeah this is the best version of the scene yet!

I think cutting the false ending is a good move and improves the action, but there’s still a bit of oddness in the original editing which this version makes even more noticeable. Specifically, the shots of Obi-wan being disarmed are too quick, with one being only a couple of frames. It isn’t too bad when these quick cuts are followed by a lull in the action, but going right into Obi-wan disarming Anakin feels like one trick too many.

I see two potential solutions, and both involve making Obi-wan’s disarmament one fluid motion.

The first would be to use only part of the shot where Anakin first strikes Obi-wan’s saber, removing the brief shot of him pulling back for the final swing and cutting the next shot to show the follow-through. This would still be several quick cuts, but it may not be as noticeable.

The second option I see would be to remove the closeup shot of Anakin’s first strike altogether, going right from the wide shot of the action to a the brief shot of Anakin pulling back for the final swing, but reversing this shot so that it appears that Anakin is swinging forward at Obi-wan’s saber. Then you could keep almost all of Obi-wan being disarmed in the wide shot, depending on the continuity between the two shots.

Anyway, those are my two cents. The scene is so close to perfect, and the music really works!

I agree, the edit at the ending ended up being a bit strange.

I liked this version. I still thought the film was weak in this edit, but I didn’t think it was bad, because the original I couldn’t even watch after seeing it at the cinema, since I thought it was so disastrous. The edit makes the film look “worthy” of being part of the collection, along with the other three Indy movies, since it turned out to be an enjoyable experience.

Thank you for sharing your edit.

I liked the new music, I thought it went well with the “introduction feeling” for Anakin in AOTC, but… As long as there isn’t a decent deepfake for Ewan McGregor, I think this scene will be hardly convincing in the sense of being able to blend in with other scenes from AOTC. Just like Hayden, Mcgregor is very old compared to his appearance in AOTC and that’s quite noticeable (I don’t understand why no one who is skilled with digital de-age and has changed Hayden’s face hasn’t tried to do something to Mcgregor’s face yet).

I liked that you cut the fat and made the flow seamless though, and the color graded matched the scene as well.

It’s a shame that the series turned out the way it did, and even with all PixelJoker’s efforts, I find it very difficult for him to “fix” the ending of Vader’s duel with Kenobi.

The original idea for the scrapped film was much better. Vader would remain a badass, nearly killing Obi-Wan, who would have luckily escaped. Vader would think that Obi-Wan had died, but still with doubts as to whether he had survived or not, as Vader would not have seen him dead, necessarily. The best ending for both, and one that would make more sense within the chronology.

Vader was pathetic at the end of the series, and Obi-Wan was a coward.

Now that it’s been announced that the third season of Bad Batch will be the last, do you consider incorporating the most central elements of the series as a kind of epilogue to your edit?

I’m commenting on this because the series has very interesting parts that show the transition from the Republic to the Empire. You could bring those more core elements together and add the Ahsoka scenes from TOTJ + the final Vader scene, and bring it all together in one final arc.

Yes. I didn’t like the show, but like you said, it gets a lot of things right. It’s the kind of story that just needs more love to get really good. The series has a lot of raw material that can be polished, and it has the potential to become something that the fans will really enjoy, especially in the hands of a person like PixelJoker, who as you mentioned, has the knowledge to make changes to the VFX, in addition to of being super dedicated to the project (just knowing that he recorded new scenes for this edit already shows the level of attention he is giving to it).

Honestly, this series is the product that Disney released that I liked the most. Not for the series itself, but for the movie it can become through the talented hands of fan editors like PixelJoker. After all, I think many fans have always wanted to see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader’s POV post ROTS. This story is more relevant to me than TPM, honestly (of course, if told correctly).

Mando EP4: Return to Mandalore 4K [RELEASED]

I’m really wondering how this fanedit will end up 😄

Maybe you could switch the first scene of the new chapter to somewhere in the beginning of the movie ? It’s a nice filler that shows well what are the mandalorians up to and how they use the stolen imperial starships.

I think it can be an enjoyable movie, you could trim a bit the 1st ep, leaving a bit of pirate stuff (it’s fun and its a nice opening for the later storyline with Mandos rescuing the capital), trim the 2nd ep, leave some bits of 3x03 (depending on how much impact it ll have on the whole story), trim heavily 3x04, trim considerably 3x05 and cut 95% of the 3x06. The 3x03 side story can serve well to make the pacing better, to fill some moments/time jumps between the quests 😉

This is the way.

I definitely agree with the decisions you made so far about cutting stuff from the first two eps.

Regarding the whole Luke Skywalker / Grogu thing - wouldn’t be better maybe to end Ep III with a cliffhanger (Luke giving Grogu the choice) and then reveal the choice of Grogu in this one?

Or, alternatively - use all available Luke/Grogu/training scenes in Ep III to follow Grogu’s journey there, and then start Ep IV with Mando arriving on the planet and talking to Ahsoka and then cutting to Luke offering Grogu the choice?

It’s just that putting all the Luke/Grogu content as a prologue in this movie feels a little bit off to me, but on the other hand, we ll see what this season has to offer yet 😄

Totally agree. The Grogu/Luke scenes felt a bit out of place as the beginning of the movie for me too, looking like it doesn’t belong there. Particularly I think that these scenes look better as the ending of the movie 3. The emotional punch of this moment works better with it being the ending of a movie than a start.

But, if you prefer these grogu/luke scenes to be part of movie 4, maybe you could consider edit them to be more faster paced. That scene of the robots constructing the temple for example. As important as it is for the lore, it doesn’t seem important for the story of Mando and dragged a lot the beginning of the movie. It’s an ok scene for an episode of a series, but feel too much as a deleted scene of a movie. The same goes for the rest, if it doesn’t serve the actual story you are trying to tell, even if there are cool moments in these Luke/Ahsoka/Mando/Grogu interactions, then maybe it could be better to cut out the fat for a better start.

The faster you make Grogu going back to Mando, the faster you could start the real story of movie 4 and throw away once and for all that plot point of “Grogu being separated from Mando” that didn’t go to anywhere in the show, in the end.

In fact, I think that intertwining her childhood episode with the arc where she leaves the jedi order would be the best place to “deposit” these scenes of her as a child, because there is her true farewell to the series. It’s like saying “Hey, this is the last time you’re going to see this character, so let’s show you what’s left to know about her, which is her origin”. That would increase the strength of that arc EVEN MORE, making it even more emotional, in my opinion.

But maybe it’s a little weird to do that due to the difference in CW and TOTJ styles.

Anyway, I just think that the Life and Death episode works so much better being cut as flashback segments distributed in an already established episode/arc of Clone Wars/TOTJ than an episode as itself.

Eh, could I give a suggestion?

Why not intertwine the Ahsoka childhood episode with the RESOLVE coda? In the two arcs we see her dealing with family, dealing with a threat… We have good parallels here.

I’m suggesting this because her childhood episode is super boring. But making this related to their final “clone wars” moments would improve the memories of her past a ton. Besides that, nobody gives a f*ck about Ahsoka in the beginning of the series, so showing a slow and bland introduction of her as a season zero episode don’t give much sense to me, particularly.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Improved Edition (Released)

I only watched this movie at the cinema, so I don’t really remember many details. But I remember two things that bothered me, which was the fact that Rocket and Quill started the movie sulking at each other for no reason, and the conversation scene between Gamora and her sister being too long. Did you change something about it?

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

So why does the OT have to keep the sequels in mind whatsoever now? I don’t mind at all if Ady wants to make the ending of ROTJ feel like an actual ending, with no hint one way or another toward the sequels.

Because Adywan doesn’t like the prequels and likes the sequels (look at his profile picture lol). I think the sequels are garbage, but this is Adywan’s edit, so he does what he thinks is right.

However, nothing prevents someone to take Ady’s ROTJ edit (when it’s done) and change the ending to an approach more aligned to the prequels, too.

I disagree.

Well, I believe the majority of the fanbase would prefer Anakin saying something about giving his saber to his child in Episode III. Any attempt that sucessfully manage to make this work in a fan edit is generally well received, since this increase Anakin’s character.

Besides that, the fact that this Obi-Wan line isn’t adressed in any way before or after he said it, in any movie, just make this fact weird. Why the lie about Vader killing Anakin is adressed in ROTJ and that one, not? The audience then presupposes that that one is a fact, and then after ROTS we discover that the whole story about Anakin giving his saber to his child is just one more lie from Obi-Wan. This just makes we question how many more lies Ben told in the movies, a man who was supposedly meant to be a honorable jedi…
