STAR WARS in 3-D!
Time
Remember those Topps Star Wars 3d cards that came out in the late 90's? (Or the comic books for that matter?) It's an interesting idea to say the least. I've long wished Lucas had thought about having Viewmaster reel photos shot during the production of the original films. I have a Star Trek Viewmaster set that's amazing to look at!

Info Wanted: Is anyone doing the shrinking ANH LD? (1989's "Incredible Shrinking Ratio")
Time
That brings up a interesting question. Since the Japanese LD transfers which were used for the first domestic widescreen LD's have the letterbox riding higher on the screen to accomodate the subtitles, would zooming in on a 16:9 set lop off the top of the image?
BTW, Fox quietly corrected this goof. The jacket art is identical except for the newer "Fox Video" logo instead of "CBS/FOX"at the bottom.

Info Wanted: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - theatrical version on DVD?
Time
IIRC, the only new scene shot was the interior of the Mothership. (Richard Dreyfuss was brought back in to shoot his reactions during the production of 1941.) Everything else were scenes that didn't make it into the 1977 cut originally. The ironic thing is that the Special Edition is harder to see these days. Spielberg has disowned it, claiming the new ending was something the studio forced him to add before he could recut the film. (And he recut it again in the 90's!) The weird thing is the last couple times CE3K has been on TNT it's the special edition. Steven should have had the term copyrighted as it's been abused so much in the past decade!

The 2 Ewok Films - '<strong>Caravan Of Courage</strong>' (aka 'The Ewok Adventure'), &amp; '<strong>Battle For Endor</strong>'
Time
The poster art for both films are pretty nice. From the style I think they were done by the same artists who did the posters for the original trilogy. The artwork on the Japanese "Battle For Endor" laserdisc cracks me up though. It has a Han Solo-esque type fellow brandishing a blaster, standing with Wicket, Teek and Cindel. Someone apparently thought Wilford Brimely wasn't going to be a big draw.

Good luck trying to fit them into the larger continuity though. Wicket has learned to speak english (galactic standard?) in the second film. Therefore, it can't be set before Jedi or else he would have used it with Leia after she won his trust. And if they are set after Jedi, shouldn't there be a lot of broken Imperial hardware lying about? Not to mention trooper helmets being used as drum sets? My head hurts now...
