"I feel cold... [whisper]DEATH[/whisper]..."

I believe one of the Timothy Zahn novels sheds light on the Dagohbah cave. Yoda using a place heavy in darkside vibes to conceal himself from the Empire makes more sense than simply choosing a planet off the beaten path. I guess as far as official explanations go, we're always going to wonder what that place was before it was overgrown. You can clearly see a wall in one shot, so it's not a natural cave,

Info Wanted: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - a preservation?

IIRC, the CAV had more extras. Also the "special edition" scenes were present at the end of each side. Programming your Laserdisc player to play certain chapters in sequence would recreate the SE cut. (Criterion also did this with Halloween.) The CLV is pretty much the non-SE movie only. (No inside the mothership scene at least.)

So much for not making monetary gain from time travel, Doc!
There are scratch-off lottery tickets in California featuring artwork from all six movies. (Marketed along with coins that resemble the old Kenner medallions.) I'm sure some collectors were in a dilemma over whether to scratch them or put them in a display case! I guess trilogy slot machines may appear some day.

What I presume was an earlier form of Macrovision used to drive me nuts with rental tapes. (This was back in the days of a simple RF connection to the tv.) Used to happen most often with CBS/Fox titles. I would return the tape to the rental store and complain it was impossible to watch the movie, and they would pop it into their machine and it played back fine! Either it was really incompatible with several makes of VHS machines, or the sneaky bastards had a video stabalizer in their store setup.
