Help: looking for... Unusual request - for the 50th Oscar Annual (1977)
Time
Kubrick was listed in the credits of 2001 as director and supervisor of visual effects, so he certainly could have gone up on stage. But I somehow doubt he attended the ceremony...
On a side note, I think I recorded the segment from the Oscars where Lucas got the honorary award from his pal Steven with a little help from the astronauts orbiting in the shuttle that night, who had a little gold passenger floating in the cabin.

HC receives Razzie© nomination for Worst Supporting Actor
Time
Hayden did the best with the script and direction he got. Whether you liked him as Vader or not, it took balls to want to put on that iconic suit and suffer the fanboy baggage that comes with it. It's certainly not at the derserving depths of a razzie award (look at the other nominees!) and it's sure as hell not a supporting role. These razzie guys just lost some credibility in my eyes.

What's the situation with Lucas saying he "forgot" to insert Temuerra Morrison's voice into the OT?
Time
The academy was not for Imperial recruits. It was training for a merchant marine kind of civilian service. Biggs had signed on as first mate of a ship called the Rand Ecliptic. In the shooting script, (and probably the cut scene) Biggs had a line about jumping ship to join the alliance *before* the Empire could draft him.

Unless somebody has a videotape of Trek recorded off NBC back in the day, it's debateable how it looked back then. People had a tendency to tweak their RCA color consoles by eye, and I doubt anyone had color bars handy!
The syndicated episodes I recall seeing back in the 70's probably had more grain, (unless you were in a major city, you probably saw 16mm prints) not to mention being all scratched up.
