Interesting that the MST3K website, Sattellite News mentions it, (yes, even Mr. Williams has a cheesy movie skeleton in his closet) but not the official SW site.

IIRC, Raiders and TOD were among the "test" titles released without any mention of THX on the packaging. (The others were Apocalypse Now and Star Trek 6.) They were "unofficial" in that the final specs for THX Laserdiscs had not been decided on, but the widescreen remasters went through what became THX mastering. Not sure about Last Crusade, as it I think it came out in widescreen before the others.

Is it possible they just ran a bunch of the existing SW parodies Robot Chicken has done in a half hour slot plus commercials? Besides, I doubt Lucas is a fan of the show after that skit Mark Hamill did!

Some of that debris had to be burning up in the upper atmosphere afterward. Matter of fact I recall a fansite speculating the DS II detonation potentially did Endor a whole lot of harm!

Rebelscum has posted some parade photos. Someone was asleep at the wheel when they decided to put Chewie and most of the other OT characters on the side of the float the tv cameras don't see!

And Bob Eubanks will be lucky if some troopers don't TP his house after that "get a job" wisecrack!

It was shot open matte. I caught a screening last year, and you could faintly see the extra picture information above and below the edges of the 1:85 theatre screen.

It was a separate two hour show during parade preparations early this morning. Unless someone recorded it off KTLA or Travel Channel today, we're out of luck. There don't seem to be any repeats other than the parade itself today.

They should have had something more iconic, like a Millennium Falcon float. Remember the year a gigantic Enterprise D was in the parade? People were amazed when that came down the street. My Mom didn't even recognize the Naboo float.

The Travel Channel is rebroadcasting KTLA's pre-parade show. They interviewed Chewie!

I still see the box sets from a couple years ago lying around in several stores. I doubt the current releases will vanish overnight. Unless Lucas sends in the troopers to scoop them up.

ET ran an interview with Lucas tonight. Besides mentioning that Indy 4 is supposed to start shooting this summer, there was a glimpse of the still incomplete float and an Episode One Amidala costume. (There had better be some OT love in there!) But there was also a lot of 501st members practicing their march! Going to be a lot of Imperials in Pasadena next week!

Local L.A. newscast mentioned it, but didn't actually show it being worked on in spite of the teaser implying they would. Arrgh!
Anyway set your recording devices for New Years! And if anyone in Pasadena can take photos of the float during the parade, or in the public display in the days after the parade, please do so.

That's great news that Criterion will be doing it again, since Paramount apparently doesn't give a damn about the movie. (And there shouldn't be any problems porting over the commentary and extras.) I'd still keep the Laserdisc for the cool jacket art, and to prove animated menus were around before DVD.

It's sad that Star Wars in it's original form can't even be screened in a historical context anymore.
