The old full frame Laserdisc isn't bad for it's age. (Mid 1980's) I own a non-rotted copy. It would blend well with the print ABC used.

Wow! Did you guys ever jog my memory! I clipped a few of the large ads for the movie from the L.A. Times back in '84. This was back when hit movies stuck around for six months. They are different from the original poster art. One was Gizmo in a spoof of the Coppertone Ad, ("You can't get sunburned while watching Gremlins") another featured a Gremlin dressed for back to school carrying a Gizmo lunchbox. Another had Gizmo and Stripe in tuxedos!
By some miracle, I still have these clippings, but they are a bit large and fragile to slap on my scanner. Do you think you could use them?

Just out of curiosity, are these Hardee's records cardboard?

And will you be listing all the Gremlins ripoffs?

There were no action figures to sell out back then. Kenner couldn't get them made and into stores in time for Christmas '77, hence the Earlybird Certificate thing.

I have no problem with Star Wars Pop Tarts, (I'm a Pop Tart addict!) it's theming it to one of the most gruesome scenes in the entire saga I find questionable. It would be like Hasbro making dead youngling action figures.

Some people have sealed cereal boxes in their collection. With all those preservatives, maybe they're still edible?

On a related note, I thought Episode III Pop Tarts were in kind of poor taste. Do I really want to think about Anakin burning over breakfast?

The Making of the Shining is an extra on all currently available discs of the movie.

I think the documentaries on The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth may also show bits of Elstree.

The old Gerry Anderson series UFO was shot at Elstree. Since the secret organization S.H.A.D.O. used a movie studio to conceal their base, you probably would find a lot of interesting footage in various episodes.

What's really weird is the DVD extras make absolutely no mention of the changes at all. There aren't any special edition credits added to the movie either.

When Lucas talks in the documentary about how they made clever use of real locations in 1970, it plays over a CGI cityscape shot.

HBO also used to run a short back in those days about how that bumper was made. And it's on Youtube!

One year, HBO actually spoofed themselves just for April Fool's day. The music was the same, but you saw a cheap video camera POV shot shake it's way over bits of the original model, followed by the logo dropping from above on very visible wires!

I personally miss Superbit. Sometimes, it was the only way to get a DTS track on a movie you liked.

I'm actually suffering extras burnout in my old age. Half of what passes as "extras" these days wouldn't be included on a Criterion Laserdisc!

Can't wait for the ads touting "over six months of bonus features!" on Blu-Ray.
