Star Wars Expanded Universe and Official Fan-Made Stuff question.
Time
Invader Jenny, the "Infinties" stories are the Star Wars version of Marvel's popular old "What If?" comic book. Showing what happens in a familiar plotline if one zigs instead of zags. I found the one where Luke's torpedo didn't stop the Death Star, and The Yavin base gets it pretty cool. I think Lucas was "inspired" by Yoda's larger role in that storyline while writing Episode III.
Ironically, Marvel SW fans back in the day begged for a "What If?" Star Wars story or two, (that and having Vader meet up with Dr. Doom!) but Lucasfilm apparently shot those ideas down.

Favorite Star Wars posters
Time
I never cease to be amazed at how many poster designs the OT had. My personal faves are the carnival style one above, and the 1st anniversary one with the birthday cake surrounded by the Kenner figures. The first time I saw that one, I realized Star Wars had become something permanent in the world.
It's weird that all the PT posters were uniformly the same artwork no matter the country.

Why I hate "The Incredibles"
Time
I only had a couple nitpicks with the movie. Wouldn't all the supervillians run amok after the supers have been forcibly "retired"? (Darn lucky thing the Underminer didn't show up earlier!) The superhero ban seems like it only was instituted in the U.S., so any supers in Europe or elsewhere would simply thumb their noses at it, even if they had to stay on their side of the pond. Still a fun movie though.

Protecting against electrical interference?
Time
I have to contend with some new medical equipment in my household that can't be switched off. I occasionally notice interference on my tv, but haven't done any video transfers as of late. Is there a surefire way to prevent any line noise or other unwanted things from potentially screwing up a video recording session? I have a surge protector and a UPS in my video setup already.

CED Discs
Time
Many are valued for their unique jacket art. (Especially the Star Trek titles.) Return of the Jedi is quite rare as it came out near the end of the format's life. The video quality is about par with VHS, but CED's have their own unique video problems when the discs wear out or get dirty. You can read more about CED here.

The Indiana Jones Project
Time
I was lucky enough to see Raiders on the big screen last year. It was a scratchy print, (presumably an old one) and nothing jumped out at me as being different from the LD and VHS versions I have.
There was an audible "ugh!" from the audience when that fly goes into Belloq's mouth and never returns! It was hard to make that out on video in the old days!

Now, none of them are reference material as far as filmmaking goes.

All of the people who were inspired and started wanting to learn how to make their own movies after seeing the original film, (and Empire) would respectfully disagree! I learned a *hell* of a lot about editing studying them on the old CAV laserdiscs. I think all the awards the OT has won, (and not just the Oscars) speak for themselves.
