Weird, that auction doesn't come up on a worldwide search for me. Ebay is so damn frustrating at times.

There was an English version played back on the set when they filmed the scene, but I've only ever heard the Huttese version in the film.
Never fear, for a certain rabbit has not been idle. And no, it's not the Easter Bunny! ;)

Maybe a Man in Black will just flashy-thing him.
See, writing this show is EASY.
Anakin was shown his future in a dark side vision during last week's episode. (It played out a lot better than his premonitions of Padme dying in ROTS.) Of course, his memory was wiped before it was over.
Just when I thought we weren't going to see any Wookiees at all, since fur is a bitch to render in CG.
So long as he isn't hanging out with Anakin and Ben over drinks at the cantina or something, I'm okay with this. There had damn well better be some arm ripping out of sockets action this time! ;)
And since when does Chewie have three scopes on his bowcaster?
There are analog to HDMI converters on the market. I use one with a flat panel whose analog inputs are screwy for my old antique video gear.
Alas, component outputs are being phased out on new Blu Ray players starting this year, in order to reduce costs and to appease Hollywood.
I wonder if HD sets will have any analog inputs at all in ten years?
I'm surprised the SE didn't have Fett rocketing out of the Sarlacc pit as Jabba's barge explodes. Fanboys would have cheered that. ;)

Wow, excellent picture quality from the print. The Chewbacca shot looks properly focused and you see how much detail there is.
I'm curious though, if the print doesn't have a leader on it from France, do you know what info was on the leader?
I'd have to arrange a screening of the print again to find out, as I don't know where the DV tapes those screencaps were originally taken from are at currently. Wish I could tell you more.
I've watched both versions of LATT side by side, and there's really only a couple shots unique to the Academy version. (The titles and one shot of a handwritten note, IIRC.)
Things are being cropped as the animation drawn for Cinemascope was reshot with 1:37 in mind, but it's skillfully done and not obvious unless you've seen the widescreen version. It's weird that the Academy version has only ever been released on Laserdisc. Making a brand new pan and scan of the Cinemascope for DVD makes no sense.
Some screencaps showing the differences here.

You would need the CAV versions of SW and ESB for this to work. The CLV versions were time compressed to fit the films on one disc, and would be impossible to synchronize with anything else.

Go outside for a bit?
Out......what?
I'm sure he means... IIIIn SPAAAAAAAACEEE!!!!!
PS: "Pain"? Really? I mean, come on, the most important and iconic scenes in those films weren't even touched. I mean, Han shot first, that stupid Mos Eisley arrival, Jedi Rocks... everything else is just nitpicking and can't be this... PAINful.
Are you sure about that? ;)
Because these were important iconic images to me!

Call me strange, but I'd actually really like it if we got a standalone release of the OOT on blu-ray without the SEs included.
I have often wished Criterion could get the rights somehow. There would be no question they would do it right.
Since they appeal to a different segment of the home video market, there wouldn't be any real crossover or cannibalization of the SE sales at Walmart or elsewhwere. ;)
I have my doubts they will be on the Blu Ray, since they're about the original untouched films.
There may also be legal issues with MOSW, as William Conrad's original narration was replaced for the late 1990's VHS release. SPFX also had some movie clips cut out for home video. It also might be expensive to clear all the movie clips in Classic Creatures for a new release.
The original USA Laserdisc pressings are notorious rotters. Only the Japanese discs are watchable today. Classic Creatures and Making of a Saga were only ever released on LD in Japan.
There may be an announcement around here with regards to MOSW and SPFX sometime in the near future. Keep your eyes open. ;)
Looks very good considering what you have to work with. :)
msycamore, I hope to get the discs out the door this weekend. Been trying to find DVD cases where the discs are less likely to bounce around loose in transit. I've had discs get mangled just in domestic mail let alone international!
In the meantime I stumbled across a recent THX reference...

You can probably guess what other famous Lucas robot made that list. ;)
P.S. On a totally unrelated note, does anyone know someone fluent in Japanese? It has to do with another LD preservation I'm thinking about...

If none of the other characters comment on the "foul stench", I will be very surprised!
Is it your understanding that Tarkin actually has an odd smell?
I was gonna say...I don't think B.O. is one of Tarkin's character traits. That was just Leia trying to take him down a few pegs.
In one old Carrie Fisher interview she discussed her "motivation" for delivering that famous line. In her mind, Tarkin did have a smell. ;)
And if he really did smell, who's going to risk summary execution by telling him?
Okay, here we go. Keep in mind this was done about five years ago, aiming a camcorder at a white sheet of paper taped to a wall! The camera focus was a bit off kilter most of the time, but you can see how nice the colors are.

Silverwook, you mention that the Derann you saw did not have the french leader. Can I ask more about this if it is in fact a wholly alternate negative?
I might have some screencaps lying around somewhere. I'll post some if I can find them. It does have a title card for the UK distributor after the closing credits.
IIRC, It also has the Episode IV crawl and the stereo sound mix. Curiously, there are no Greedo subtitles.
I've been saying Tarkin should show up for a while now. (Why should Wulf Yalaren be the only future Imperial lackey we see?) And I doubt anybody is clamoring for more episodes about Baron Papanoida and his family. ;)
This is the only guy besides the Emperor to order Vader around, and it will be interesting to see how he gets to that position of power. And find out if he and Anakin have any sort of a working relationship before ROTS.
If none of the other characters comment on the "foul stench", I will be very surprised!
The owner of the Derann print has been through this with Puggo. The aforementioned problem is the maximum reel size his workprinter can take is 400 feet. The Derann is spread across four 600 ft. reels. Short of physically cutting up the print, and potentially destroying it's value, this is likely an insurmountable problem. Unless somebody knows how to make a reel with a slightly smaller hub or something!
Ironically, the ROTJ Super 8 that was on Ebay a few months ago was spread across six 400 ft. reels.
The Criterion of Monty Python and the Holy Grail has one cool thing that didn't make it to DVD, a complete Japanese dub track. If you're a fan of the film, you've probably seen the French Knight taunting scene with subtitles translating the odd Japanese translation of Python humor on the DVD. This also first appeared on the Laserdisc.
If this hasn't already been done, I'd like to see the entire Japanese track translated and subtitled into English. I've been dying to know for years what the angry voices over the organ music at the end are yelling about. ;)
Of course, such a project is desperately going to need someone fluent in Japanese for this to even work!
What do you think, sirs?
Derann must have had two different sources for their Super 8, because the one I've seen is not from a French print, and shows some wear from the 35mm source material.
The stumbling block for any potential transfer is the reels are too big for Super 8mm telecines like the Workprinter.
I thought the AP track had been dropped for the Blu Ray in favor of a text version?
If I had a nickel for every time stop motion has been pronounced dead since Jurassic Park came out. ;)
People often don't realize Williams also has an large body of television work. Lost in Space is among his most memorable tv scores.

And how many people can say they've worked with both Irwin Allen and George Lucas?
He even scored some Gilligan's Island episodes.
