^But how do you really feel about it?

Heh heh. But seriously, you're right. They always seem to do the bare minimum and neglect things in their rush to get it on the shelves by the holiday season. When they do go above and beyond, it's just to add something to get it 1% closer to 'George's original vision.' (or to fix something we know is wrong and still make stuff up about why it happened) And we all know that'll never happen unless they invent some kinda machine that can hook up to his brain and record his thoughts.

Maybe Douglas Trumbull could help him out with that? ;)

Buttercup Valley, Arizona 1982 - Pics! it did happen!

I envy the fans who were old enough to actually get out there and see this in person!

The shot of the back side is interesting. Did they build an interior barge set on location? There are a couple shots in the movie that look like real sunlight is coming through the shutters where Jabba and his guests are partying.

And what the heck are the speeder bikes are doing there?

It's not about artwork (though it would give people a chance to showcase just how easy it would be to improve on the artwork they put on the official set).

It's about downloading something (which isn't a pirated movie) and sending off something as an endorsement of an idea.

You could have spaces for missing discs (like the HD restored OUT, the theatrical PT etc).

You could even have downloadable representations of the discs themselves which could be printed onto or stuck to cardboard.

It's saying, if this exists (for real), I will pay for it.

Just like the Kenner set was a virtual Christmas present because there weren't enough figures to keep every child happy on the big day.

Actually, there were no figures on the shelves for Christmas '77.  Kenner  must have been sweating bullets Star Wars fever would not fade away by the time the figures hit shelves around March or April of '78.

The Biggs scene in the hangar was shown on TV programs over here in the UK before the movie came out just with on set audio. I remember finally getting to see the movie when it came over here and wondering why it wasn't in there. Back then i didn't have a Video recorder so i use to record everything that had any star wars material off the TV using my old hand-held tape recorder. I would listen to all these clips, interviews etc all the time and the Biggs scene was one of these.  So it is possible that you may have seen this clip on TV

Sounds like it might have been part of a presskit for tv stations. Or perhaps a BBC crew visited the set?

There have been old 16mm clips on Ebay in the past with markings indicating they were for U.S. tv stations to use for reviews of the movie.

     Speaking of bonus discs...

I watched the THX 1138 SE recently. Outstanding restoration and enhancement.

I'd like to see Amgraf and THX included in an SW saga set!

I suppose that would create problems with the different studios and lost profit on the single sales.

OTOH, it would make the saga sets even more appealing and provide vastly greater distribution and awareness for those two great films.

I think I'm going to go out and get drunk now. ;)

Agreed, Lucas destroyed Thx 1138 the same way he did star wars.  CGi lizards and monkeys, wtf.

You forgot the masturbation machine in THX's apartment...

Memories can be unreliable things sometimes. I remember Leia having her hair done up in buns the first time I saw TESB, and I remember Luke having a blue lightsaber the first time I saw ROTJ. Of course, when I saw them again later, neither Leia's TESB buns nor Luke's blue ROTJ lightsaber were present.

I think I can chalk the blue lightsaber up to being a result of the TV's tint setting being off, though.

Luke's saber was blue in the "Revenge" trailer though.

I still don't buy that explanation.  I never saw the comic or the "Making of SW".

I'm reluctantly willing to concede that I might not have seen Luke miss with the grappling hook.  Perhaps my "memory" of having seen it is based on other similar scenes in other movies, where it is customary for the protagonist to miss the first time or two.  But regardless of the lack of corroborating evidence, I am quite certain I saw the full Biggs reunion in the theater multiple times mid-1977. Unlike the hook, the Biggs scene isn't an incidental thing, but a lengthy scene with significant dialogue.  I don't expect people to believe me, but I don't mind... I'm confident my memory will be vindicated someday!

And you're sure you never heard the radio series either?

If THX-1138 had a larger fan base, there would have been plenty of debate over people remembering that lost scene I found. So your memories could very well be correct.
