WWII version?

I'm surprised TCM is only showing two Titanic related movies this weekend.
They actually ran the infamous WWII version a while back.

Casablanca 2: SAVING ILSA
Very shortly after the ending of Casablanca, the plane to Lisbon crashes, killing Victor; however, Ilsa survives but is lost in enemy territory. Rick and a rag-tag group of friends, including Sam, Renault, Ferrari, and an actually-alive Ugarte, take some weapons and go rescue her. Rick gets the girl at the end.
This movie would be made using 3D CGI models based off of photographs of all the actors.
I've read somewhere a sequel actually was proposed, but obviously never made.
There was a Casablanca tv series in the 80's, set before the events of the movie. So that counts as a prequel?
And let's not forget "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank". ;)
When are we getting a 3D special edition of "Raise the Titanic"? ;)
"A Night to Remember" is still the definitive Titanic movie in my book.
If you want to see a really good non-historical ship sinking disaster movie, track down a copy of "The Last Voyage". A real luxury liner, (destined for the scrapyard) was destroyed for the film!
It's possible the movie was shot open matte though.
His full name is "Eugene Wesley "Rod" Roddenberry Jr."
This is blatant typecasting, but I need to resize my old avatar anyway. ;)
TheThirdGathers hasn't been around here in months, so I hope he's okay.
Definitely shot on video. The exception being the film clips from Star Wars and the Boba Fett cartoon.
I'm amazed it was converted to PAL. PAL to NTSC seems to have worked pretty well back then, but the other way around seems to have been problematic well into the 80's. I read somewhere Dallas went back to editing episodes on film as the show was very popular in the UK, and the NTSC to PAL conversions looked pretty bad on tv there.
IIRC, it took a while before Star Trek TNG aired overseas for the same reason.
Perhaps heavy breathing is a turn on for some people? ;)
Sorry to hear you're still having PC issues.
The article was only put up temporarily so we could get a sneak peek.

Zombie is probably still waiting to hear back from the people quoted in the article to give their final a-ok, or he's just busy with regular life.
Google and Lucasfilm could never work together. Neither would want to be the apprentice in that evil relationship. ;)

You want to see ragged scar tissue fused with crude bionics? Well, whatever catches your fancy ...
Prior to Empire and Jedi, a lot of people presumed Vader was as physically fit as the guy who portrayed him. Vader actually had a dark mysterious sex appeal going for a while, probably to Lucas' dismay.
Dave Prowse claimed to have gotten a lot of steamy fan mail from women who wanted a personal Dark Side seduction back then. ;)
What is up with all the Scooby Doo icons?
I saw Holy Grail a couple times when it ran on A&E. IIRC, they sort of half muted every utterance of J.C. and totally muted "oral sex". They also inexplicably repeated the opening credits over the blank screen at the end!
I think the Pythons had this version pulled eventually. I probably saw the whole film uncensored when it aired on PBS in the late 70's.
One project I've been kicking around is preserving the Criterion Laserdisc Japanese audio track of Holy Grail. I'd like to get it translated and subtitled. Only two scenes have ever been presented with the lost in translation Japanese dialog subtitled on the DVD releases.

Man, I might just get the blu-ray then, if it's on there. Awesome, thanks for the help!
Somebody should rip the audio from these "censored" versions and post them someplace... just sayin' :)
As the tv version has extra scenes in it, it's a bit more complicated than merely synching up the audio to the theatrical cut.
They must have been inspired by that weird French variety show clip someone posted on Youtube a couple years back. ;)

I don't think Anthony Daniels can even raise his arms like that in the suit.
Interesting music choice. It works for me. :)
Perhaps Artoo ought to say something when Padme tells him to go back to the ship?
All the clones will have to sound the same, so win win. ;)
I'm going to be hearing that voice coming out of Jango even when I'm not watching your edit. ;)
Consider sneaking in a tiny bit of the classic Spiderman tv theme song lyric at 0:24?
The poster image is kind of ironic, since Lucas was playing down Leia's sex appeal in the movie. (The costume was once described as being like that of a nun.) Not to mention the luckiest member of the crew was taping Carrie's boobs down on George's orders! ;)

Really?
In which case why wasn't those scenes on the Jedi deleted scenes disc in the correct aspect ratio?
Maybe the negs were lost after that footage was spliced into the tv movie? Or they still haven't given us every last bit of stuff from the cutting room floor?
Do Ewoks shooting the bad guys undercut the whole "primitives overthrowing technological might" scenario? Only George knows for sure.
What I want to know is, does this little fellow make an appearance? ;)
My understanding is that it is the "melonfarmer" dub.
There are region free players out there. You probably won't find them at your local store though.
